How Can I Reduce Stress

To decrease stress levels, try taking some time for self-care. This might mean:

  • eating breakfast before work
  • going outside at lunchtime to get some fresh air indoors
  • reading aloud from a book that makes you happy instead of watching television until bedtime

Anxiety can be overwhelming and it is easy to get lost in worries. The best way to keep your anxiety levels low, however, is by taking control of your thoughts and remembering Scripture when you start feeling anxious.

What The Bible Says About Worrying

Bible verses for worry and fear

Background Text: Matthew 6:25-34

Devotional Text: Luke 12:25

Are you a person who worries about circumstances in your life? There certainly seems to be plenty of difficulties for us to face individually, as well as fearful events that take place in the world.

Things happen to us, to our loved ones, to people we know, to strangers. We hear about it on the news. We hear about it through other people, family members, friends.

Worry is a natural part of our psyches, and when we get overwhelmed with worry it can lead to devastating health problems. Worry in abundance is just not good for us, and it does no good for the ones we worry about.

In Luke 12:25, we read this: Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?

Not only will it not add anything to your life, but medical data tells us it is more prone to decrease our lives by increasing illness.

What about this word, worry? What makes it so harmful to us? Doesnt everyone worry about something?

From the Oxford Dictionary, worry is defined as anxiety, dwelling on difficulties, and even getting ourselves into a panicky emotion.

While everyone worries about something at one time or another, it is when the worry or worries take over ones daily life that it becomes harmful to the worrier. The word itself is known as a negative word.

Cast all your cares upon the Lord, for he cares for you, is a well-known verse from 1 Peter 5:7. Peter shows us the comfort that comes from God when we are upset.

Luke : 37 Dont Worry Nothing Is Impossible With God

For nothing will be impossible with God. Luke 1:37

God owns everything he created both the things we see and cannot see. We dont need to worry about the cares of life because it is not impossible with God.

All things were made by him. so you dont need to worry about tomorrow or what the future holds for you.

Bible Verses For Anxiety And Worry

I read words – of life – of truth. Soaking them in, over and over, praying them out loud. Until they became so familiar, they replaced the other things in my mind that Id battled against. Theres nothing magical about words and verses, but there is power through them because theyre Gods words.

Change happened. Anxious thoughts began to diminish. Worry let go of its constant grip. And though fear is sometimes still there, it no longer wields control, holding me back, paralyzing me in its grasp.

His words are life words, soothing to our soul, calming to our spirits, giving power to our days.

Its not always easy, and it often comes down to a choice:

  • Choosing not to allow fear and anxiety to control your life.
  • Choosing to guard your heart.
  • Choosing to focus your mind on what is true in the midst of uncertain times.

We might still feel afraid, but we can believe that God is with us. We may not be in control, but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future, but we can know the God who does.

Does Worry Accomplish Anything

Many of us waste lots of time worrying about what might happen, but never does. Or we have the mistaken idea that worry somehow prevents what we fear from happening. Here’s what the Bible says:

  • “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”
  • “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
  • “But make up your mind not to worry ahead of time about how to stand up for yourselves.”

Can Any One Of You By Worrying Add A Single Hour To Your Life Matthew : 27

I heard a story about a husband who got fed up with his wifes constant worrying. Finally, one day he asked her, Why are you always worrying when it doesn’t do any good? She quickly yelled back, Oh, yes, it does do some good 90% of the things I worry about never happen!

Well, the wife is absolutely correct that 90% of the stuff we worry about never happens. But her worry didnt do a darned thing to stop bad stuff from coming her way, did it?

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes it clear he doesnt want us to worry. In fact, he tells us so five times in Matthew 6:25-34: Do not worry about your life . Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? . Why do you worry about clothes? . Do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? . Do not worry about tomorrow . So, Jesus doesnt want us to worry. But why not?

Well, just before he shifts to the topic of worry, Jesus spoke of money, telling us, No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money .

Keep that in mind as you read verse 25: Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
