After Moses encounters God on a mountain he asks God what he can tell the Isrealites about Him after he returns. Gods begins His reply with I AM THAT I AM. Other versions of the Bible use the I AM WHO I AM wording. This comes from the ancient Hebrew word meaning to exist, be or become.

Jesus Is The Light Of The World
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
Some religious people had just finished accusing a woman caught in adultery. They wanted to ensnare Jesus as well, so they asked Him what should be done with her.
Surprisingly, Jesus responded, He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first .
The womans accusers left one by one because none of them were without sin themselves. Jesus told her that He wouldnt condemn her either, so she should go and sin no more.
Jesus then declared that He was the light of the world. He wanted His followers to know that they didnt have to live in darkness, hopelessness and bondage to sin. If they would follow Him, then He would bring His light of life into their lives, transforming them and restoring them with His power.
What A Name Signifies
The reason knowing the names of God will help us trust him with our daily affairs and with our eternal destinies is that in Scripture a persons name often signifies his character or ability or mission especially when the name is given by God. Adam names his wife Eve, because she is mother of all the living . God changes Abrams name to Abraham to show that he had made him the father of many nations . God changed Sarais name to Sarah . He changed Jacobs name to Israel . And when the Son of God came into the world, his name was not left to chance: You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins .

Who You Say Who I Am
Lauren Daigle has written a beautiful song called, You Say that has been able to crossover from Christian radio to the pop and rock stations. She is traveling the world singing for people to hear who God says I am. What a wonderful message and song.
Her lyrics remind the listener

Jesus Is The Bread Of Life
Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
Jesus had just fed several thousand people with only a few loaves of bread, yet some people were asking for a sign from Jesus to prove He was from God. They reminded Jesus that God gave their ancestors manna from heaven while they wandered in the desert so they wouldnt die .
Jesuss response surprised them: Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Like in many cultures, bread was a staple in the diet of the Jewish people, and when Jesus said that He was the bread of life, He was saying that, as bread sustains them physically, He would sustain them spiritually. They didnt need to look elsewhere for spiritual food, for nourishment, for sustenance HE was their life! All they needed to do was believe in Him.
The Truth Will Set You Free
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.33 They answered him, We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, You will become free?
34 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.35 The slave does not remain in the house forever the son remains forever.36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.

3:14 And God said – Two names God would now be known by. A name that speaks what he is in himself, I am that I am – This explains his name Jehovah, and signifies, 1st, That he is self – existent he has his being of himself, and has no dependence upon any other. And being self – existent he cannot but be self – sufficient, and therefore all – sufficient, and the inexhaustible fountain of being and bliss. 2dly, That he is eternal and unchangeable, always the same, yesterday to – day, and for ever: he will be what he will be, and what he is. 3dly. That he is faithful and true to all his promises, unchangeable in his word as well as in his nature, and not a man that he should lie. Let Israel know this, I am hath sent me unto you. A name that speaks what he is to his people. Lest that name I am should puzzle them, he is farther directed to make use of another name of God, more familiar.

People Who Know Gods Name Trust In Him
The aim of all my ministry is the advancement and joy of your faith to the glory of God . Preaching is one means to that end, and therefore when I ponder what to preach, I look for things that will stir you up to trust God with all your heart. Psalm 9:10 says that people who know Gods name will trust him. It seemed to me therefore that the Lord would strengthen our confidence in him for the future of our life together if I could help you know the name of God better. Those who know your name put their trust in you. So for seven weeks, leading to a climax during our missions conference, I hope to unfold a different name of God each week.
