What is the Catholic Faith Appeal and for what are its proceeds used? The Catholic Faith Appeal is a Diocesan-wide fundraising effort to support programs such as: Pastoral Outreach & Ministries missions, poor parishes and convents Catholic Charities Evangelization Worship Respect Life Peace & Social Justice Vocations & Seminarians Catholic Education Diocesan administrative support services etc. On an annual basis, parishes in the Diocese of Venice make a required contribution to financially support these efforts. The Catholic Faith Appeal is a means by which all parishioners can take part in helping their Parish to meet its contribution. A Parish Catholic Faith Appeal goal is determined by the income of the Parish and is not based on the number of registered families because our population grows in the winter months from northern visitors. This greatly adds to the success of the Appeal.

How does the CFA benefit my parish and me?Thousands of Catholics in the Diocese are directly or indirectly served through Diocesan agencies and programs funded through the Catholic Faith Appeal. In addition, a portion of the money that is pledged over goal will be returned to your Parish for its own programs and services.

Fort Myers Parish Checks On Health Safety Of Church And School Families Following Ian

Debris lines a street in the historic downtown riverfront district of Fort Myers, Fla., Oct. 5, 2022, following Hurricane Ian.

John Gulley, principal of St. Francis Xavier School in Fort Myers, Fla., and Peter Routsis-Arroyo, CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, visit the school Oct. 5, 2022, following Hurricane Ian.

FORT MYERS, Fla. | If it’s all about timing, then historic St. Francis Xavier Church in downtown Fort Myers got it just right with the completion of a much-needed new roof last February.

“More than likely that saved our church from complete devastation, said Father Anthony Hewitt, pastor at St. Francis Xavier.

Founded in 1910, the church is just a few blocks from the city’s downtown riverfront area, which suffered heavy flooding and is thought of as ground zero for the Hurricane Ian catastrophe in southwest Florida.

The parish community has withstood more than a few hurricanes over the years, but in particular 2017’s Hurricane Irma and now Ian are on people’s minds now.

“This is the second hurricane in five years impacting us directly in downtown in Lee County and both have been extraordinarily challenging in terms of the damages and recovery,” the priest said Oct 5.

His church’s campus and school has electricity once again but the parish was still waiting for water pressure to be restored, grounds cleanup and repairs to a security fence necessary for the church and school to safely function.

Frequently Asked Questions And Answers

What are people saying about churches in Fort Myers, FL?

This is a review for churches in Fort Myers, FL:

“One of the nicest Roman Catholic churches I’ve ever visited . I don’t know how long ago it was built, but it appears to be brand new, and it was obviously designed by an architect. Huge interior and very well constructed. This church has 5:00 PM Saturday and 12:00 AM Sunday masses, as well as Latin masses which is something that is very rare to find. They have elaborate masses for special days like Easter. There are even violinists playing at all masses.”

We Are A Spiritual Family United In Christ Nourished And Strengthened By His Body And Blood We Continue To Respond To His Invitation Of Love And Service To The Other

We are first and foremost a family through Jesus Christ our Lord and our entire beings are fed by His Body and Blood. This is not a symbol or a representation, but a reality in which we receive. The Church, Our Church, began with Jesus giving the Keys of the Kingdom to Peter. We continue the same mission that was given to us over 2000 years ago, Baptize All Nations in the Name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. All Saints continues to strive to live in the fullness of who we are and who we are created to be: through surrender, receptivity, and being vulnerable with the Lord. As we live out our true, authentic identity as a beloved son or daughter, we no longer just live in our minds, but rather seek to live with our minds and hearts united as one.
