Skits And Childrens Stories

I have written more skits and puppet plays for Easter than I can count, and the goal of all of them is to get people feeling the joy of Easter Sunday. Three examples:

And by the way, for Easter keep the kids in! Having the whole family together makes the service special and exciting! It also means no teachers need to miss celebrating Easter, either.

There’s More To Easter Thanbunnies Baskets & Eggs

Ready to start a NEW Easter tradition this year?

I feel strongly that kids need to learn that there’s more to Easter than bunnies, baskets, and jellybeans.

Don’t you agree?

But Easter can be tricky.

The story of Easter centers around a Death & Resurrection- which are challenging concepts to present to children at an age-appropriate level.

I struggled for many years trying to figure out the best way to introduce children to the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

I wanted them to know the TRUTH, but I certainly did NOT want parents telling me “Easter Nightmares” kept their children awake at night.

So for the past 12 years, I’ve done something a big DIFFERENT with the kids on Easter.

Top 20 Church Outreach Ideas For Easter Sunday

The substance of our faith and our very salvation depends on the resurrection of Christ. Apart from it, our faith is futile, we are still dead in our sins, we have no hope in our own resurrection, and as the Apostle Paul put it, we are of all people most pitied. But Jesus did rise again and His resurrection proved victory over every ruler, authority, and power, including death. Invite your community to hear this important message. Here are the top 20 church outreach ideas for Easter Sunday:

Easter Program Ideas For Church

Sunday Worship, November 20, 2022 Christ the King Sunday, Ardmore Presbyterian Church

Unlike other events like Christmas or New Year’s, Easter is a time for spiritual celebration and worship rather than feel-good festivities. Therefore, your Easter program should focus on the meaning of the holiday and how it applies to our lives today: “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. The death He died, He died to sin once for all but the life He lives, He lives to God” .

Here are some Easter programs ideas for the church to celebrate this momentous occasion. In all these activities, the main goal should be to focus on the significance of Easter and what it means for our lives today. Doing so will help create a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

Keep in mind that this requires in-person services. If your church hasnât resumed face-to-face worship, you can check out our guide to Easter ideas during the COVID pandemic.

The Story Of The Empty Tomb/ The Empty Tomb

These two Easter Skits for Children are taken, almost directly, from the scripture verses found in John 20:1-18

The majority of the story is told by the Narrator, as thechildren act out the parts of the various people portrayed. Pre-readerswill enjoy repeating their lines after the Narrator in The Story of the Empty Tomb. While Early Readers will enjoy the simple lines found in the skit written just for them, The Empty Tomb.

In both skits the setting is the area in front of and around the Empty Tomb on Easter Sunday morning. In all cases, staging is something that can be done in collaboration with the students!

If time permits, allow the children to do the skit more thanonce, trying out different parts each time. This will help them learnthe story better.

Be sure to start and end your class, or lesson, with prayer, thanking God the Father for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on thecross for us. Thank Him, also, that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter morning, and that He is alive now and forever!

For Young Readers tryThe Empty Tomb.

Happy Easter!

  • Done balloon drops
  • Dropped small Jesuses attached to parachutes that say He is Risen!
  • Another year, people had a chance to take hymns from old hymnals that were ready to be tossed, and created flags from them with straws and tape. We talked about God turning old things into new. We waved the flags.

Ideas To Celebrate Easter With Your Small Group

I didnt grow up observing Lent. We barely attended Easter services. And today, I still dont attend a liturgical church. But my views on observing Lent and celebrating Easter have changed. Over the last few years, Ive made an effort to celebrate the season, and Ive learned a lot about God in the process. Regardless of your background or the type of church you attend, there is great benefit in observing the church calendar this time of yearespecially with your small group.

Lent is a season of fasting, waiting, and reflecting. It prepares our hearts by casting out the excess and focusing solely on God. As were convinced of his goodness and greatness over the 40 days of Lent, we are able to celebrate Easter in a new way: fully, freely, and fervently.

Here are some simple ideas you can incorporate into your small group to celebrate the season together:

Read a Lent Devotional. Encourage your group members to read a Lent devotional this season. I highly recommend Lent Meditations for its short, simple readings and daily questions. For something a little more in-depth, yet still very accessible, check out Lent For Everyone by N.T. Wright available in the YouVersion Bible app. Group members can read these plans on their own and discuss what theyre learning with the group each week.

Celebrating The Hope In Christ’s Resurrection

We celebrate the hope that we have in Christ’s resurrection. This miracle reminds us of God’s love for us and gives us a reason to hold onto hope and joy, even in sadness and sorrow. As we reflect on what Christ has done for us, let us also remember to put our faith in Him, making the most of this new life we have in Christ.

As Scripture tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” . There’s no better time than Easter Sunday to celebrate and commemorate this new life Christians have in the risen Christ, being a witness to Godâs sovereignty and unfailing love for mankind.
