However, officials from the church have disputed the authorities claim, stating that they do not believe the suspect was able to take that much money from the church.

According to Rev. Alyn E. Waller, senior pastor of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, the safe that was broken into by the suspect encased a tithe offering box that had already been emptied prior to the suspects arrival.

We are very confident that what is being reported is not what has come out, said Waller during a livestream on Facebook. We have every reason to believe that is not a real number because the box had been emptied.

According to reports and surveillance video released by authorities, the suspect broke into the church on Nov. 12 around 11:15 p.m. dressed in all black clothing. The suspect got into the church by breaking a glass door and then headed directly to the room where the safe was located.

There are at least 10 people who have announced a run for mayor of Philadelphia this year, and theyll all get a chance to talk to the congregants at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church.

The congregation, located in Mt. Airy and Germantown, has started carving out time during its virtual Saturday prayer sessions for conversations with mayoral candidates.

The conversations are shared on the churchs social media accounts, or people can call in. Pastor Alyn Waller estimates about 4,000 people tune in to each session.

I think an informed citizenry is whats best, Waller said. And I think the role of the pastor, preacher, prophet is to kind of sit in the middle and call balls and strikes.

Its important to have a space where Black Philadelphians can voice their concerns which largely revolve around public safety, he said. There were 516 homicides in Philadelphia last year, and nearly 80% of victims were Black, according to an analysis from the Office of the Controller. Thats more than twice as many homicides as the city saw in 2016, according to Philadelphia Police Department data.

It comes up somewhere in everyones top three, he said.

Find out about upcoming conversations through Enons Facebook page.

Predicting What 3 Starting Lineups Doc Rivers Will Turn To For Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers were able to come away with a 113-112 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday to improve to 2-0 on their road trip, but the focus is now on the starting lineup when it comes to this group.

Coach Doc Rivers made a switch to the lineup on Sunday as he inserted DeAnthony Melton into the unit despite having Tyrese Maxey and everybody healthy. Considering Maxey has had some defensive issues since returning from a left foot fracture, one had to have seen this coming for Philadelphia.

After the win, Rivers revealed that there will be three starting lineups the Sixers will turn to for the foreseeable future. With that being said, its time to predict which lineups Philadelphia will turn to.

    Regular lineup

Lineup: James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, PJ Tucker, Joel Embiid

This will still be a lineup Rivers will turn to for Philadelphia. The Sixers will want to grow this unit and have them continue to play together and grow chemistry for the future when the playoffs come around. The talent with this group is immense and it would be beneficial for Philadelphia if they rolled this lineup out on a semi-regular basis.

After Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church Break

We can give you more than you can ever take from us, the Rev. Alyn Waller said to the suspect in a video message

After a break-in at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in East Mount Airy earlier this month, the Rev. Alyn Waller is offering to help the culprit, who he imagined was likely struggling if he resorted to robbing a tithe box.

Our heart towards you is to help you, he said in a Facebook Live to his congregation Tuesday. To help you with this Thanksgiving, to help you with Christmas, to help you however we can help you get back on your feet. Im not interested in you going to jail.

In a video shared by police Tuesday, the suspect is seen walking through the church parking lot straight to the building where he broke a glass door to get inside. The man, who wore all black, carried a backpack, and used black and yellow gloves, then headed to the tithe box, which he opened with a flat tool. Video shows the man then calmly walking out of the church.

Going off police reports, initial news stories Tuesday estimated the amount the thief took at about $20,000 a total Waller was quick to dispute.

In his message to congregants, Waller encouraged the suspect to turn himself in. Alternatively, Waller told anyone who might recognize the person in the video to encourage him to come to the church.

We can give you more than you can ever take from us, Waller said to the suspect, adding he intended to focus on the holiday for now.
