A: Ample free parking is available onsite at all of our facilities. When parking for Sunday service at the FBCG Worship Center, we ask that you:

• Follow the direction of the police officers and parking lot attendants who will guide you on and off the property seamlessly.
• Please note there are 40 handicapped parking spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lots A, E and F.
• If youre directed to park on the overflow Lot G, we also have shuttles that provide roundtrip service to the entrance and parking lot should you choose not to walk.

John K. Jenkins Sr.Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr. has been preaching the Good News since he was licensed as a minister at 15 years old. From an early age, he developed a love for the Lord and felt a call to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.His pastoral journey began in February 1987 when he was called to serve as the senior pastor at Union Bethel Church in King George, Va. Nearly three years of pastoring at Union Bethel proved to be the training ground for his upcoming assignment. In October of 1988, Pastor Jenkins learned of the passing of his pastor and mentor, Dr. John W. Johnson, from his home church at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. In 2001, Pastor Jenkins added another credential to his resume when he received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Southern California School of Ministry in Inglewood, California. After becoming a licensed pilot in 2002, he takes great delight in flying. Even with his many obligations, Pastor Jenkins holds his role as family man as the highest treasure. He and his wife are the proud parents of six children and one granddaughter.

New Clinic Will Expand Community Access In Prince George’s County

CHEVERLY, MD Today, Governor Larry Hogan and Brigadier General Janeen Birckhead announced the State of Maryland will partner with the First Baptist Church of Glenarden and the University of Maryland Capital Region Health to establish a large, community focused-vaccination site in Prince George’s County, when fully operational, this new site will deliver 900 COVID-19 vaccine doses per day.

FBCG and UM Capital Region Health leaders comment on this announcement:

“Prince George’s County has been disproportionally impacted by this pandemic and the only way for our families, friends and neighbors to get back to normal is through vaccination, says John K. Jenkins Sr., Pastor of First Baptist Church of Glenarden. “With the support of the State and backing of county leaders, we are honored to be able to host a COVID vaccination site focused on the communities that we have been serving for decades and will continue to serve long after the pandemic has passed.”

Prince George’s County Courthouse

The courthouse has been a critical part of the town since it became the county seat in 1721. Since then, the courthouse in Upper Marlboro has seen many changes. Between 1798 and 1801, a new courthouse was constructed on the site of the old one. The courthouse was again rebuilt in the 1880s.

In 1939, the courthouse was substantially expanded and rebuilt. During this time, the building gained its famous stone . According to county historian Susan Pearl, “They wanted the neo-classic university campus building, and that’s what they got.” The total cost of the revision was $178,000.

Small additions were made in 1947 and 1969.

In the early 1990s, a new courthouse was erected behind the existing courthouse. The new courthouse, composed of the Marbury and Bourne wing, was completed in 1991. The new building occupies 360,000 square feet of space and cost $80 million. The old courthouse was then designated as the Duvall Wing and was attached to the new section by walkways.

In May 2003, the old courthouse was closed for a $25 million renovation. On November 3, 2004, two months before the building was scheduled to reopen, a fire broke out and destroyed much of the 151,000-square-foot building. The fire left only a charred skeleton of the , which had overlooked Main Street for 64 years.

On March 12, 2009, the Duvall Wing of the Prince George’s County Courthouse reopened after being closed in 2001 for renovations.
