Uk Athletics Director Speaks To Church On 234th Anniversary
UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart was the speaker on the anniversary Sunday at Forks of Elkhorn.
A crowd of more than 500 celebrated the 234th anniversary of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church on Sunday.
FRANKFORT, Ky. It was 234 years ago that Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church was constituted. The church no longer situated at the forks of Elkhorn Creek had plenty to celebrate on its historic anniversary Sunday.
Pastor Todd Lester, who has pastored there since 1998, said the churchs story is one of Gods faithful people keeping Gods church open through some mean, lean and difficult days. To see what God has done, we cannot praise Him and thank Him enough for His faithfulness.
Doug Hamblin, associational mission strategist for the Franklin Baptist Association, highlighted significant advancements for the gospel by the church in recent years. In the last 10 years, the church has baptized 511 people thats an average of 50-plus a year, and youve just baptized three today, Hamblin told the congregation. He noted that more than $100,000 has been given to missions each year for the last five years. Forks of Elkhorn, while carrying a Midway mailing address, is located closer to Frankfort and is only about a mile from Buck Run Baptist Church. Those are the two largest churches in the association, Hamblin noted.

Our Christmas Sunday and Christmas Eve services will feature a blend of modern and traditional music with an inspiring, spirit-filled message from our Pastor, Todd Lester. On Sunday, we offer two times for worship, each lasting about an hour. These two Sunday services are identical. Our Christmas Eve service will be a bit shorter and different from our Sunday service.
