A History Of Learning Guided By Gods Word

Traditional Worship | 8:30am, October 2, 2022

At our Christian Academy, the Word of God guides us in every aspect and is our lens for learning. First Presbyterian Academy was originally two different schools, founded in 1953 and 1968 respectively and then united in 2019. Our faculty and staff have years of experience and the knowledge to give your students the attention they deserve.

Our highly experienced teachers are passionate about helping our students excel. We understand that each child is unique and has different needs, which is why we do our best to address the specific needs and interests of each individual. With Honors level courses and a STEM Program, you can be confident that your student is receiving the best education possible.

With two locations for preschool and elementary-aged children, both of our campuses are designed to create an environment that fosters a love of learning in each child. A serene garden between the Lower and Preschool buildings on the Garlington Road campus serves as the perfect spot for kids to learn about nature or quietly read.

We are committed to helping our students thrive in whatever comes next for them. Invest in their future today by calling to enroll your children in a Christian school that cares about their success.

First Presbyterian Church Breaks Ground On $33 Million Campus Addition

First Presbyterian Church broke ground on a $33 million campus expansion in downtown Greenville on Sunday, Oct. 4, kicking off a project that has been years in the making.

The 77,000-square-foot campus addition, designed by Greenville-based architectural firm Craig Gaulden Davis, will add a 1,100-seat Worship and Arts Center, a new gymnasium, state-of-the-art childrens facilities, a central gathering space, a new youth floor and additional adult classrooms.

Senior Pastor Rev. Richard Gibbons said the project aims to be a key aspect of the citys extensive growth with a campus that will serve the area for many years to come.

As part of our Transforming the Heart of the City campaign, the congregation has prayerfully and sacrificially committed to raising $33 million to help create a campus geared to welcoming the music and arts community of Greenville, Gibbons said. It would be difficult to exaggerate how excited we are about the future of our rapidly growing city.

The groundbreaking was attended by members of the congregation, church representatives and members of city and county council.

Greenville-based Triangle Construction Company, which has been chosen to complete the work on the project, is expected to finish construction by January 2022, with an opening celebration planned for February 2022.

GREENVILLE CO., S.C.

According to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Richard Gibbons, 97 percent of the congregation of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville voted in favor of transferring into the ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians.

In an interview with WYFF4 on April 30, Gibbons said the downtown Greenville church wanted to switch denominations following a decision by the National Governing Body of Presbyterian Church USA that allows gay clergy.

“Changing the definition of marriage, changing ordination standards away from what we believe to be a Christian stance is not a healthy thing,” Gibbons said.

In a press release sent to WYFF4, Gibbons describes ECO as “committed to a historic reformed faith while seeking to make vibrant disciples of Jesus Christ in a 21st century cultural context.”

The press release also says ECO is a new denomination that has attracted more than 47 congregations as far apart as Washington state and Florida.

The transfer must be approved by Foothills Presbytery, which is a governing body of PC.

In a statement sent to WYFF4, Executive Presbyter George Wilkes said in part, “In accordance with the Gracious Dismissal Policy of Foothills Presbytery, the Task Force will make a recommendation regarding the church’s dismissal to the Committee on Ministry of Foothills Presbytery. The Committee on Ministry will then bring a recommendation to the stated meeting of Foothills Presbytery on August 18, 2012.”

Small Groups: An Essential Aspect Of Discipleship And Evangelism

So far we have looked at half of our eight core values. And whether you have noticed it or not, there is a flow to how these core values are structured. We tried to envision the way a person would engage with our church from their first time as a visitor through, Lord willing, many years as a member. So our first core value is the first thing we want people to notice our commitment to the Bible as the ultimate authority. Next, we hope people will see that our commitment to Christ as Lord of our life is reflected in how we preach through books of the Bible. From there we want to make sure people see an intentional focus on church membership,
