The best app Ive run across is the Bible app. Its the most popular app and for good reason. Not only does it give you multiple options for reading through the Bible in a year, 90 days, 30 days, etc. but it also gives you special devotions. It offers quite a few versions of the Bible and so much more.
Bible.is is my favorite app for listening to the Bible. You can listen to the Bible dramatized which Ive found makes the stories come alive. This app is also great for listening to the Bible with your whole family.
Audible is another great app option for reading the Bible that you can listen to while youre doing other tasks. Daily Bible Verse is an app I have enjoyed as well.

That, in itself, may not be a compelling reason to read the Bible. But more compelling is this: The Bible is where you can encounter God.
Literally speaking, the Bible is a collection of 66 separate books 39 books under the Old Testament, and 27 books under the New Testament. These books are ancient scripts of different writing styles, including narrative, poetry, songs, and prose, in forms ranging from letters to laws. They were originally written in Hebrew and Greek, but have since been translated into a multitude of languages.;
You will find timeless wisdom in the Bible for living, and a treasure trove of truths about God and the world we live in, both seen and unseen.

Explore Different Learning Styles
Instead of always reading the Bible while your children listen, consider having older kids dramatically read the words of those who speak while you narrate the passage. Or pass the book around and have each person read one verse or one line or even one word, if your children are able to connect to the Word in that way.;
When you are able, take the next step and begin a more thorough examination of Scripture together. But even when you dont have a formal study, you can connect with each other and God by encouraging a full range of creativity, whether illustrating, retelling or acting out a Bible story. Or if your family needs to relax, play Pictionary together, taking turns drawing and guessing familiar Bible verses. When you encourage everyones participation, you give family members active roles and help them connect directly to the Word while reinforcing their value and unique contribution to your familys Bible time.

Read Right From The Bible
Some families choose to supplement their devotional time with resources that keep everyone interested and engaged. Although there is value in these books, its also important to read directly from Gods Word. To begin, especially with young children, work through one book of the Bible, and start with just a few verses a day. Since young children like repetition, you can repeat the selected verses many times during a single day once in the morning, at lunch, after school, at dinner and then at bedtime. If its a short selection, your children may be able to repeat it with you.
Keep Track Of Your Bible Reading
Its good to keep track of what youve read, and there are many ways to do so. You can mark the date you finish a chapter or book in your physical Bible. You can check off each book in the table of contents as you read it. You can also tally the number of times youve read the entire Old and New Testaments.
Keeping track of our progress encourages us in developing a Bible reading habit. For example, you may think youre going too slowly if you read one chapter per day. But youll finish the whole New Testament in less than a year by reading just one chapter every day. After five years, you might look at your record and find youve read through the New Testament seven times! Seeing this kind of progress encourages us to continue on.

Is The Bible Meant To Be Read In Order
The Bible is not arranged in the order to be read, but by the type or genre of the books.
In the Old Testament, all of the books of the Law are grouped together the first 5 books, from Genesis to Deuteronomy. Then there are the books of History. After that are the 5 books of Poetry. Finally, there are the Prophets.
The New Testament starts with 4 accounts of the Gospel, the life of Jesus Christ. Then there is one book of history, the book of Acts. Its followed by many Letters or Epistles. The last book is the book of Revelation, which is the genre of Prophecy.

Many people start out doing well through Genesis and Exodus, but get bogged down somewhere near the third book, Leviticus. Leviticus goes into the details of the Law that you can come back to at a later time. Instead of reading in order, you can skip to Joshua, the first book of History, to pick up the major storyline of the Bible for now.
Then when you get to 1 & 2 Kings, skip over 1 & 2 Chronicles for now because they cover much of the same history. The slightly different perspectives and different purposes of those sets of books can be explored later.
The recommended order below takes a sampling from each of the types of books in the Bible.

How To Start Reading The Bible: Come With A Humble Heart
Before we talk about the nitty-gritty details of where to start and how much to read every day and all that jazz, lets talk about how you should read the Bible.
In other words, the sort of attitude you should have when you open the pages of Scripture.
The primary attitude you should when you read the Bible is one of humility. The Bible is no ordinary book. It is not a novel. Its not even a great work of antiquity.
No, its far more than that. The Bible is the word of God. It is Gods very words to you. When you read the Bible, God speaks to you.
2 Timothy 3:16 says, All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness

All Scripture is breathed out by God. In other words, its from the living, holy, all-powerful, righteous God. The words of the Bible are not ordinary, human words. They are the words of God.

It is true that Jesus taught us to pray to God, and that He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. Without theBible, though, it is impossible to know Gods true nature. Yes! I would always encourage you spend even just a few minutes each day in Gods Word. Reading the Bible every day can greatly impact your day for the better. God speaks to us through His Word.
It gives us strength, helps us remember or find our purpose, gives us encouragement, etc. Think about that one person that always makes you feel better. When you feel awful, you go to them and feel so much better. Thats what reading the Bible does on a daily basis. Reading it every day fuels you to take on whatever might come our way.
Reading the Bible doesnt have to be challenging and once you get started reading the Bible youll find its not nearly as intimidating as you may have once thought.
How Long Does It Take to Read a Chapter a Day?
It takes around 10 minutes to read a chapter of the Bible per day. If youre a slower reader, it could take up to 15-20 minutes. Some chapters are longer than others but, this is the average based on most chapters.
How Long Does It Take to Read the Bible in One Year?
If you read about 3-4 chapters a day, youll be able to read the entire Bible in a year. For the average person, this is about 30-40 minutes of reading a day. Im going to share with you 2 simple application steps that you can take to know where to start reading in your B ible .
Genesis: Where It All Began
In the Old Testament, Genesis, which means origin, is a good starting point too. Reading this narrative about the beginning of the world, how sin came to be and the impact it had on the world, gives us a reference point to start understanding the context of the New Testament.
Many famous Bible stories like Adam and Eve, Noahs ark, and the story of Joseph are found in Genesis.
Introduction to the book: The Book of;Genesis;tells us how everything began from humanitys history to become the world we know today. It reveals a dramatic prologue of Gods love for us, the tragedies of sin and the human race, and God initiating a brilliant plan to win us back from the clutches of darkness.
He does this by passing down a covenant blessing through Abraham and his family, including Isaac, Jacob, and other individuals, in order to bless all the families of the earth.
These descendants will become the foundation for the nation of Israel and Jesus the Messiah, who brings salvation for all of humanity.

Continue In The New Testament
Once you finish reading a couple of the gospels, then I would recommend you move on to more books in the new testament of your B ible . You can choose to go in order, which would bring you to Acts and just read until the end of the Bible. Acts will explain more of what happened after Jesus died and rose from the grave. Or you can choose any of the books in the New Testament like Galatians or James and go in any order youd like.
Tip:
If youre struggling to know which gospel to read, or where to start reading in the New Testament after youve read any of the gospels, ask God where He would like you to read. It may not be an audible answer you receive but listen to your heart and trust that God is guiding you. He will speak to you no matter where you decide to start reading.
