Why Do Some People End Up Heartbroken

WHAT IS LOVE according to the BIBLE??

Brother Bob: As the Bible explained that showing love is like feeding or taking care of yourself. We all know that getting fed once a year, February 14. Thats not going to work. No matter how much food you eat on February 14, on that one day, its not going to keep a person alive. Likewise, the love of a couple will not thrive or even survive if they will focus on proving their love to each other just on one of the most commercialized days of the year: Valentines Day. You want proof? Lets take a look at this for a moment.

Look at these statistics. People spend an average of $161, nearly $162 and Valentines Day, and it totals about $20.7 billion. Imagine that number. $20.7 billion in total.

Now you think spending that much would fix any kind of problem. That would make love just flourish in every relationship on planet Earth, right? Well, the divorce industry is worth $50 billion annually. Valentines Day is not fixing that. There are those that hope for Gods blessing in the form of a spouse, form of a partner in life. Those who are hoping for blessing their existing marriage, existing family, but seem to always end up disappointed in love. Why is that? Instead of finding true love, as described in the Holy Bible, their actions have led them to heartbreak. The Bible teaches us this in Proverbs 19. Lets listen together to verse 3:

Some people ruin themselves by their own stupid actions and then blame the Lord.

When Will I Find True Love

Many men and women would like to know who their spouse and true love will be. In other words, who will love us, really love us? Knowing this answer would make it easier to search for that person. But thats not how life works.

God normally doesnt predestine who we will marry. Instead, He wants people to prepare themselves for marriage. And we have to make good, informed choices about our relationships and marriage. Thankfully, the Bible has a lot to say about marriage. The following biblical articles can help:

Studying these traits also helps us to know what we have to work on to be the kind of person a godly man or woman will be looking for.

Gods Love For His Son

In the Old Testament we saw that God loves his own glory and delights to display it in creation and redemption. A deeper dimension of this self-love becomes clear in the New Testament. It is still true that God aims in all his works to display his glory for men to enjoy and praise . But what we learn now is that Christ reflects the very glory of God and bears the stamp of his nature . In him dwells all the fullness of deity . In short, Christ is God and has eternally existed in a mysterious union with his Father . Therefore, Gods self-love, or his love for his own glory, can now be seen as a love for the glory of Christ who is the likeness of God . The love that God the Father has for the Son is expressed often in the Gospel of John and occasionally elsewhere . This love within the Trinity itself is important for Christians for two reasons: First, the costly beauty of the incarnation and death of Christ cannot be understood without it. Second, it is the very love of the Father for the Son which the Father pours into the hearts of believers . The ultimate hope of the Christian is to see the glory of God in Christ , to be with him and to delight in him as much as his Father does .

What Is The True Definition Of Love

Contrary to what many believe, the Bible reveals that love is much more than just an emotion or a feeling. We read that God is love , meaning this is the defining characteristic of His nature. His selfless love was demonstrated to us most dramatically when He gave up His Son in death for our salvation. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life .

Gods example throughout the Bible provides the perfect definition of this outgoing care and concern for othersthis way of giving. He further shows us how to love Him and others through the two great commandments and the 10 Commandments .

Godly love is also defined by 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:

The godly love described in 1 Corinthians 13:8 never fails, but the type of superficial love we see portrayed in the media often does.Love suffers long and is kind love does not envy love does not parade itself, is not puffed up does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Is The Truth About Love Being Taught

Pin on Bible Verses

No, it is not! That’s why nobody knows what LOVE is. It’s a mystery and the best kept secret!

But it’s no surprise that nobody teaches the Truth about Love. Have you ever heard anyone else bringing these Scriptures to your attention and pushing you to think outside the “church box”?

Have you ever heard anyone telling you there is no love without the Law? Have you ever heard anyone saying: you are not a disciple of Jesus without obedience?

Look closely at what Jesus said about the Last Days.

Matthew 24:11-12“Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the LOVE of many will grow cold.”

1 Many false prophets will deceive many Christians

2 And because nobody cares anymore about keeping God’s Law

3 The LOVE of many Christians will grow cold!

In this order!

Yet, if you ask these Christians if they keep God’s Law, with one voice, they will all answer “No, this is the New Testament and we are saved by Faith through Grace”.

And, if you ask them if they love God, with one voice, they will all answer “Yes”.

According to the Bible, this is a contradiction. You can’t have one without the other.

These are the Last Days, and there’s no one left to tell you these things, except us, and our hope and prayer is always the same:

Philippians 1:9“This I pray, that your LOVE may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.”

How Should Christians Talk About Love

Faith is an individual journey with God, and we arent always privy to the details. What we dont know, is exactly who well see on the other side. We dont know everybodys story.

We do know that Christ is Love. Christians should model His kindness, forgiveness, and inclusionary grace. Regarding every human being as the creation of God that they are and treating them with the unconditional love of Christ.

By His very character, God is love, and to know Him is to extend His love to those around us. However, we must also be careful to walk in His truth, acknowledging that: Jesus Christ the righteousis the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world .” Dr. Charles Stanley, Life Principles Bible Notes

By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.John 13:35

Just months before the 9/11 tragedy hit American soil, Billy Graham preached,

As we see a war-torn world-a world that is sick, pained confused and bewildered- we believe the this is the hour for the church to speak out. This is the hour for the church to show for the love and grace of God. This is the hour for the old to hear Christ saying through the church, I am the way, the truth , and the life.

Angel Number 111 Meaning In Love

Because 111 is a number of manifestation, it’s important to keep a positive mindset when it comes to your love life and relationships. When you begin to think good thoughts about your love life, that is what you manifest and welcome.

Number 111 is giving you the chance to let go of that which no longer serves you, leaving room for something new, whether it be a relationship, a fresh start at dating, or time to focus on expressing your desires in love. To let go of the negative may mean ending a toxic relationship or leaving a bad situation.

If you are single, your angels are giving you a chance to manifest true love, while those in relationships may find that they are not in the correct partnership.

Just remember that number 111 in love is optimistic and is encouraging you to find a fresh outlook in matters of the heart.

Objects Of Mans Love:

Nor should it be overlooked that our Lord commanded His children to love their enemies, those who spoke evil of them, and despitefully used them . They were not to render evil for evil, but contrariwise, blessing. The love of the disciple of Christ must manifest itself in supplying the necessities, not of our friends only , but also of our enemies .

Our love should be without hypocrisy there should be no pretense about it it should not be a thing of mere word or tongue, but a real experience manifesting itself in deed and truth . True love will find its expression in service to man: Through love be servants one to another . What more wonderful illustration can be found of ministering love than that set forth by our Lord in the ministry of foot-washing as found in Joh 13:1-38? Love bears the infirmities of the weak, does not please itself, but seeks the welfare of others it surrenders things which may be innocent in themselves but which nevertheless may become a stumbling-block to others it gladly forgives injuries , and gives the place of honor to another . What, then, is more vital than to possess such love? It is the fulfillment of the royal law , and is to be put above everything else it is the binder that holds all the other graces of the Christian life in place by the possession of such love we know that we have passed from death unto life , and it is the supreme test of our abiding in God and God in us .

Why Is Obeying God’s Commandments Love

What are the 4 types of Love in Biblical Greek | The Bible Explain

Because obeying God’s Law means to live in righteousness and respect towards our neighbors and the Lord. Sin is not Love, as sin always hurts someone, as plainly stated in:

Romans 13:8“Owe no one anything except to LOVE one another, for he who LOVES another has fulfilled the Law.”

Romans 13:9“The Commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet’, and whatever other Commandment there may be, are summed up in this statement: ‘You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself’.”

Romans 13:10“LOVE does no harm to a neighbor therefore LOVE is the fulfillment of the Law.”

Here we find the same definition for Love that we find in 2 John 1:6, expressed with different words, but both passages have the same exact meaning.

Sin, ultimately, creates a breach in relationships and separates us from others and God, but when we keep God’s Law, we conform to the image and likeness of Jesus, who was sinless. We manifest His character and, therefore, His sinless Love, thus, repairing the breach originally created by sin.

1 John 4:7-8“Beloved, let us LOVE one another, for LOVE is of God and everyone who LOVES is born of God and knows God. He who does not LOVE does not know God, for God is LOVE.”

How Do We Love

I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me and the life which I know live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20 NASB

The Greek word for live and lives in the above verse is zao. It means to enjoy real life living water, having vital power in itself and exerting the same upon the soul. It goes on to further define this type of life as fresh, strong, efficient, active, and powerful. Gods agape love, fleshed out for us in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is alive and active in all those who believe in Him. We love by letting it flow back out of and through us to others.

Love In The Old Testament

Jesus said that the greatest commandment in the Old Testament was, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind . The second commandment was, Love your neighbor as yourself . Then he said, On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets . This must mean that if a person understood and obeyed these two commandments, he would understand and fulfill what the whole Old Testament was trying to teach. Everything in the Old Testament, when properly understood, aims basically to transform men and women into people who fervently love God and their neighbor.

Key Lessons From 1 John : 1719

Definition Of Love According To The Bible

âGod is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.â

Remember these words when you encounter temptation and when you are confronted with sin. Godâs love is powerful enough to dissuade us from the influence of evil and preserve our spiritual purity until the Day of Judgment.

âHe who fears is not perfected in love.â

Those who are constantly fraught with the fear of Godâs judgment are, by Johnâs teachings, preoccupied with the fear of punishment, and therefore not accepting of His perfect love.

Open yourself up to Godâs perfect love and carry it with you. Spread it throughout your family and your community.

Only then will you be free from fear of judgment and able to face the Day of Reckoning with the brazen confidence that John describes.

Definitions Of Love In The Bible & Dictionary

Live a life of love. – Ephesians 5:2

Im not afraid anymore, Kevin declared as he bounded triumphantly into the frostbit air with his newfound courage in the movie Home Alone. Did you hear me? Im not afraid anymore! In an instant, he found himself face-to-face with an entirely different fear than the one he had prepared to face, and took off screaming into his house.

How are we supposed to live out the words Paul penned to the Ephesians when there is a new fear, anxiety, pain, or problem lurking around every corner of our lives?

There is no fear in love. – 1 John 4:18 NIV

God is love. Through Christ, we have access to His wisdom through the living Word of Scripture, providing us wisdom to live out a life of love over fear. Love is always bigger.

Since we are His children, we must walk in His unconditional love. Love is more than just words it requires action. Gods unconditional love should characterize our lives. As people who have His love living within us, we need to represent Christs authentic kindness and forgiveness to others. -Dr. Charles Stanley, Life Prinicples Bible Notes

According to Merriam-Webster, similar to what C.S. Lewis noted in The Four Loves, the word “love” has multiple meanings in different contexts as outlined below:

With Discipline And Punishment

My son, do not despise the Lords discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.Proverbs 3:11-12

Because of Gods love for us, He does not hesitate to discipline us when we go astray and sin in our lives. He would allow us to suffer pain, brokenness, and hardship so that we could learn to trust Him and achieve genuine faith. The stubborn Israelites were often punished by God so that they could learn to forsake idolatry and revere only Him as their true God.

What Is Love God Is Love

Humanity has always struggled to define love, and is constantly redefining it, but Gods definition is clear and will never change:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails .

God is love .
