Six Month New Testament Bible Reading Plan

How’s my Bible Reading Going in 2022? a FREE New Testament Bible Reading Plan

Finding a New Testament Bible Reading plan that wasnt dated proved to be a lot harder than I thought. Most of the 6-Month New Testament reading plans were written to be started on the 1st of the year, but since I didnt want to wait until January 1 to start, I quickly made one without the dates.

The reading plan will take you 180-days if you read one selection a day starting at the beginning of the New Testament.

Hopefully you find it helpful as well

When a snowball is starting to roll down a hill full of snow, is it easier to stop it at the top? Or as it gets bigger towards the bottom? Of course, its easier to stop at the top. And that is exactly where Satan likes to come into play.

Hed like to stop us from growing closer to God before we become full of His word, grow in our faith and become unphased by sin. This is why its so important to read the New Testament.

Read The Whole Bible At Your Own Pace

I developed this Bible reading chart for those who want to read the whole Bible but dont want the stress of keeping up with a dated plan. You can read the whole Bible at your own pace. You can mark off each chapter as you go and go in any order you please. You can get this free Bible reading chart here. If you are already an email subscriber to Read the Hard Parts, you can find this chart in every email I send so that you can start reading through the whole Bible at anytime.

Three Chapters A Day Not In A Year

In this Bible reading plan by Sarah Frazer, you read one chapter from the Old Testament, one Psalm or Proverbs, and one chapter from the New Testament a day. This a no-stress plan since its undated and not intended to be finished in a year. It will help you read the whole Bible though and I like the inclusion of the Psalm or Proverb a day.

Pauls Chains Advance The Gospel

4 month New Testament reading plan

12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Happy 2020 I’ve Put Together A Bible Study Plan For Myself To Study Through The New Testament Throughout The Year And I Thought I’d Share It With You This Isn’t A Traditional Reading Plan That Covers A Portion Of Each Book Of The Bible Instead This Is A Study Plan That Will Cover One Chapter Each Day With A Few Breaks Spread Out For Good Measure Helping You Read The Entire New Testament In One Year

Last summer, I created the Foundations of the Bible reading plan. While I love that reading plan and think its great for someone who needs a broad overview of the Bible as a whole, it leaves a lot of the scriptures out in order to cover the surface level in nine short weeks.

I followed my own Foundations reading plan, and I kept finding myself reading the verses and chapters between the recommended reading. I wanted to go deeper!

If youre ready to dig a little deeper into scripture, I want to encourage you to spend the year studying the entire New Testament with me.

Responses To Six Month New Testament Bible Reading Plan

  • Thanks for the questions Amy, but no, I have not put together a six month plan for the old testament. Sounds like something to work on this year though

  • I am looking into a new project to go along with the 6-month New Testiment Bible Reading plan that I put together. That plan has been downloaded almost 3000 times and Ive received some

Basically, I just take my Bible of choice and divide its number of pages by 180. For example, if that Bible has 1440 pages then that is 8 pages per day. The average OT has 1080 pages & is about 3 x longer than the NT with on average 360 pages. OT 1080 / 180 = 6 pages per day. NT 360 / 180 = 2 per day. Easier yet. I calculate how many pages that is per week 7 days x 8 pages = 56 pages per week. That way If there is a long chapter or break or if I miss or am hurried I can stay on track and not be overwhelmed. God bless!!

The plan expects believers to read chapter a day for 5 days each week, with an allowance for weekends off. The 2 off-days a week are built in so you may catch up on days where youre unable to read In order to digest more of the Word. The F-260 encourages believers to read less and to keep a H.E.A.R. Journal. Here is a sample H.E.A.R. entry.

Laura Jane Barber realized she would finish reading the New Testament in six months and went looking for an Old Testament six month plan so she could read the whole Bible in one year. She couldnt find one, so she created one and shares it on her blog for you to use, too. In this Old Testament in six months plan, you read about five chapters a day, seven days a week.

Im not entirely sure why this is titled the way it is. There is still a lot of reading for everyday of this seven day a week plan. But I like the way you are reading different genres of literature on each day of the week. Sunday is Old Testament poetry, Monday is the Pentatuch, Tuesday is Old Testament history, etc. You should have a good grasp of the storyline of Scripture for this plan since youll be jumping around a bit. But I imagine you will see great insights you havent seen before since you are all over the Bible at the same time.

It Is Ok To Not Understand Everything Youre Reading

When you receive salvation, the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of you. Meaning, you have God living in you. I know, a strange concept yet its a reminder that He is always with you.

The Holy Spirit interprets the Bible for you. I dont know if you ever read the Bible before knowing Christ, but it doesnt make much sense without Him.

    Bible New Testament Reading Plan

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

I like the way Rachel Green Miller, author of Beyond Authority and Submission, arranged her personal Bible reading plan. She kept the Bible books together, except for the Old Testament poetic books which she keeps for the weekends. She also alternates between the Old and New Testament. Her plan mixes up the readings without making it confusing to finish the whole Bible in one year.

Its Totally Normal To Have More Questions

The Bible is literally full of the works of God. And as the Bible says His ways are higher than our ways so some of it may be hard to understand.

If youd like to dive deeper or have a person to ask questions, reach out to your church and ask for someone to disciple you. Discipleship is important in any Christians walk. To get someone that is a little further in their walk than you to come alongside you and help you on your journey.

3 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who isour life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. 29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.

Find The Right Plan For You

The source of much spiritual dryness in the Christian life can be traced to one simple fact: many Christians do not have a systematic plan of reading through the Bible. In fact, many do not read the Bible at all, unless it is done in a hit or miss fashion. We have found that our ability to be faithful in our reading is enhanced if we have a guide, a chart where we can keep track of what weve read and where we are in the process.

Below we have several options: you can read through the Bible in one, two, or three years, read through the New Testament in a year, or read one chapter each day365 of the most important chapters in the Bible. Whichever you choose, be faithful in follow-through. Always read the selection intended for any given day if you miss a day make that reading up at a later time. Expect to be changed by the faithful and systematic reading of Gods Word!

Why Read The New Testament First With This Bible Reading Plan

If youre going to start reading your bible or if you want to dive back in, the New Testament is the best place to start. If you look at the Bible as a whole, the testaments -new and old- are covenants between God and us.

There is the old covenant which is the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, most of what is written does not apply to us, that doesnt mean its not worth reading.

The Old Testament is amazing for understanding who God is. His character and how He loves us. Among a million other things.

However, if youre just starting out or if you want to know what applies to us as Christians, you need to start in the new covenant- the New Testament. And it is totally possible to read the New Testament in a month.

Once Jesus came to Earth, lived a sinless life, was crucified and raised from the dead, we began a new covenant with God. A covenant wrapped in love and freedom in Christ. The New Testament is the best order to read the Bible for new believers.
