Centennial Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A Spacious Place | Jeff Vines

On January 18, President Angie Richey, Ph.D. co-hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Mayor Emmett Badar of San Dimas and members of the City Council and Chamber to officially launch the 100th year of Life Pacific University.

Proclamations and certificates of recognition for our Centennial were presented from the U.S. House of Representatives and Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, the California State Senate and Senator Anthony Portantino, the California State Assembly and Assemblymember Chris Holden, the County of Los Angeles and Supervisor Kathryn Barger, the City of San Dimas, the San Dimas Chamber of Commerce, and the San Dimas Historical Society.

President Richey responded, As the 11th President of this institution, please accept my sincere thanks and deepest gratitude for your leadership, sacrifice, and vision for our neighbors, our city, our region, and beyond. You and I are divinely placed in our role at this time together. And I am proud and humbled to stand with you.

More than 200 guests including LPU members of the Board of Trustees, alumni, donors, pastors, faculty, staff, and students joined our honored dignitaries with expressions of gratitude, love, and hope for the University. The Ribbon Cutting celebrates the universitys rich heritage, todays LPU community and leadership, and the promises for the future as we remain dedicated to the transformational development of students into leaders prepared to serve God in the Church, the workplace, and the world.

More Than Just A Name Change

Until recently, ONE& ALL Church was known as Christs Church of the Valley. The church changed its name when it began expanding its multisite model outside of Southern Californias San Gabriel Valley. Today, ONE& ALL Church has campuses as far away as Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, and Pakistan. Its worship services are also broadcast daily on Christian radio into many other countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Indonesia.

Through partnerships with various Christian radio networks, ONE& ALL Church is transmitting the gospel to remote parts of the globewhat senior pastor Jeff Vines calls unreachable places. Vines explained that in many parts of the world, especially those without high-speed internet access, radio is still the primary medium of choice for most residents.

ONE& ALL Church established its international radio ministry because of Viness history as a missionary. Prior to his ministry in Southern California, he spent 10 years as a missionary in Africa and 10 years in New Zealand. Though he has now lived in California for more than a decade, Viness sermons are heard around the world on Christian radio every day. Many countries carry the original English broadcast of ONE& ALLs weekly service, and some services are translated into local languages.

People are really hurting there, he said. COVID has taken it to another level.

A congregation in New Zealand hopes to be the next one to implement the model.
