How Do I Read The Bible In One Year

Chronological Study Bible! Read the Bible In Order!

Reading the Bible in one year can be daunting, but its definitely doable! Here are some tips on how to read through the Bible in a year.

1. Settle on a Bible translation that you deem easy to read and understand. Personally when reading the Bible, I often opt for the Christian Standard version, the English Standard version or the New King James Version.

Using the YouVersion Bible app, test drive reading different Bible translations until you find one that you enjoy. Be mindful though that while some Bible translations make it easier to understand the Bible by using modern languages, the original authors intended meaning of the passage may get lost in the process. You can learn more about Bible translations in this post on Bible translations made simple.

2. Use a Bible reading plan. This is the secret sauce to consistent time in the word. When I have a plan for Bible study, I find that my time with God is more fruitful as I know exactly what to read each day.

Reading the Bible is a great way to grow in faith and understanding. Chronological one year Bible reading plans are a great way to experience the whole breadth of the Bible in bite-sized pieces over a period of time.

A chronological order bible reading plan is popular because it helps readers get a better understanding of the big picture and context of the Bible and see how the different parts are all connected.

Schedule For Reading Through The Bible In Chronological Order Download And Print Out

One of the most important things you can do to grow in your Christian life is to read your Bible in Chronological order.

Below is a short video preview of the schedules and the journal pages.

There are schedules that are numbered and not dated, ones dated that you can use any year, and then ones that are dated. The numbered ones are useful if you start at a time other than the first of the year. The dated ones work well for starting at the beginning of the year. I personally download one of them and then like to highlight Sundays. That isnt necessary for you to do, but it helps me keep track.

In addition to full-page schedules, I made condensed schedules that are contained on two instead of four pages. If you have a printer that prints on both sides of the paper you can fit the entire schedule on one piece of paper. This works well for you to make one-page reading schedules for yourself or for your church. You can make copies of any youd like and share them.

Below is a podcast and links to a video of the reasons why I put the books in the order I did. Please take a few minutes to watch the video if you havent as yet. I think the reasons why the readings are arranged the way they are is important for you to understand. Below them is a copy of the text for both.

Another Option: Read The Bible In Chronological Order

Chronology Chart from Adam to Abraham

Another option is to read the Bible in the order that the events actually happened. This approach would be to take the books and sometimes smaller portions of the Bible and arrange them in chronological order.

The arrangements of the books in the Bible are not chronological. For example, the historical book of Ezra can be enhanced by the prophetical books of Haggai and Zechariah even though they are not in the same section. Haggai and Zechariah were prophets that encouraged the people during the time of Ezra, so itd be helpful to know what they said when you read Ezra.

As an example, if you read in the Bible in order, you would read all the historical books and then reading the prophetical books afterward. Rather than doing that, it makes more sense to read the Historical books along with the Prophetical books that happened during the same time as them.

The recommended list in the section above follows a roughly chronological order of the major events and storyline of the Bible. This second option puts the entire Bible into chronological order.

One way to read the Bible in chronological order is to find a Bible reading chart that organizes it that way. Crossway has a good Chronological Bible Reading Plan thats divided into 365 days.

What Is The Chronological Order Of The 66 Books Of The Bible

When I first started reading the Bible, I used to get confused at times, wondering why a book I was reading seemed like it came before another, even though in my mind, it should have come after.

I assumed the Bible was organized in chronological order, and it took a while for me to realize my error. For instance, the first five books of the Old Testament Genesis through Deuteronomyare in chronological order, but later, I found timelines began to weave together and overlap.

The Bible is indeed a well-organized collection of writings penned by more than two dozen authors spanning thousands of years. Instead of being organized chronologically, it is organized by literary genre. For example, books from the prophets are all together in one section, while books of history are in another.

What is the chronological order of the 66 books of the Bible? And is there a benefit to reading the Bible chronologically instead of its current order?

As with many things, the answer is yes and no.

What Is A Chronological Bible Reading Plan

A chronological Bible reading plan is a set of Scripture passages arranged in the order the events of Bible history occurred.

A chronological Bible reading plan is different from a cover-to-cover Bible book reading plan, in that it does not focus on reading through the entire Bible in book order from Genesis through Revelation. Rather, it follows the chronology of events throughout all of Scripture and allows the reader to read through the Bible following the timeline of Bible history.

In such a plan you would sometimes be reading from several different books of the Bible in one day in order to read all that the Bible records about a particular event.

What Should I Include In Bible Reading Chart

    image002.jpg 619Ã542 pixels

The most important part of the bible chart is the content. You can choose the theme for the content. For instance, it is the name of the book, the person, the event, or the sermon from the bible. Then, divide the characters into two sides, based on the old testaments and new testaments. Next, give some numbers of the verses. You can either make some circles or a list. Since this is for the sake of devotional reading, you must put the start date and the date finished of the reading.

The below list will guide you through the ideal bible reading plan, one by one, and you can take it at whatever pace you want. If thats only a chapter a day, thats fine.

Personally, I recommend more like three chapters a day, because anything less than that will take a very long time. And I do recommend you do this every day, as a daily Bible habit is a great thing to cultivate if you are a Christian. If you can read three chapters a day, you will get through the entire bible in under a year.

Side Note: Please note that Bible timeline is a labor of love and not academic research material. All dates are extremely approximate and dont necessarily represent the dates that scholars suggest these events may have occurred. But this timeline should help provide a new option for people who want to experience the Bible in chronological order. Regardless, we hope you enjoy!

What Is The Chronological Order Of Reading The Bible

In its current state, the Bible as we know it is was compiled by the type or genre of book. For example in the old testament, the first five books grouped together are known as the laws. When you read the Bible in chronological order however , you are reading the Bible in the order events are viewed to have likely happened.

Lets explore this! When reading Genesis for example, only a few chapters in you will likely move over to read Job or you might be reading the story of David and Bathsheba then find yourself reading Psalms 51 Create in me a clean heart to read the Psalms which its believed David penned during such a time.

Reading the Bible in chronological order you can easily start to feel overwhelmed, so to keep you on track a chronological bible reading plan printable would be helpful or a chronological Bible.

How Is The Bible In Chronological Order

This timeline puts all of the chapters in the Bible in chronological order. The Bible only loosely arranges its books in chronological order. It comes mostly arranged thematically. For example, the Old Testament lists the 5 books of Moses first, then the history of the Israelites, then the teachings of Israelite prophets. This is one of the few timelines that isnt based on a sci-fi/fantasy franchise. Instead, this is made up entirely of ancient text. Therefore, you will see a few difference.

If you liked this timeline, dont forget to view some of our others, especially the Bible and Book of Mormon Scripture timeline that adds the Book of Mormon and other scripture to this timeline, such as the Book of Mormon. Theres no one right order to read the Bible. Reading the Bible from cover-to-cover is also an option, especially if youre not new to the Bible. For most people, Id recommend the list above.

Dont feel limited by the order or the details. If you find something really interesting, feel free to stay there. Read the same book again. Keep reading and encountering God in His Word. Let Him lead you on this exciting journey.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Why Is The Bible Not In Chronological Order

The books of the Bible are somewhat in order chronologically. The books of the Old Testament contain the record of events before Christ came to earth. The New Testament contains the record of Jesus earthly life and ministry, His church, and His second coming.

But the books are not in order as far as when they were written or, in many cases, in order of events. Since many writers record some of the same events in their respective books, it would be impossible to arrange the Bible in chronological order without splitting up the books of the Bible.
