We have more than 4,000 registered families but a small community feel. We offer over 60 ministries and groups to grow your faith, give back, and connect with your community. We have a preschool and school on campus in addition to our traditional faith formation programs. We have a vibrant Hispanic Ministry and bilingual worship opportunities.

Mentions In The Tridentine Liturgy
In editions of the Roman Missal before 1970, Saint Michael was mentioned in the Confiteor as recited by the priest and again in the altar server‘s response at Mass. He was mentioned also in celebrations of Solemn Mass when the priest put incense in the thurible, reciting the prayer: Per intercessionem beati Michaelis Archangeli, stantis a dextris altaris incensi, et omnium electorum suorum, incensum istud dignetur Dominus benedicere, et in odorem suavitatis accipere. Per Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen. .
Until Pope John XXIII revised it in 1960, the General Roman Calendar had not one but two feasts of Saint Michael, one on 29 September, the other on 8 May.

Earlier COVID restrictions on the number of attendees at religious celebrations in British Columbia have been lifted, and we are pleased to be able to welcome all parishioners and visitors to our regular 11AM Saturday morning Divine Liturgy. Masks are now optional. Due to the age and vulnerability of some of our parishioners we ask that you sit with your family members or household. Communal singing is now permitted. Father Yuriy will continue to administer holy communion using the disposable wooden spoons, and will wear a mask while doing so.

St Michael The Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel isn’t a saint, but rather he is an angel, and the leader of all angels and of the army of God. This is what the title “Archangel” means, that he is above all the others in rank.
St. Michael has four main responsibilities or offices, as we know from scripture and Christian tradition.
- The first is to combat Satan.
- The second is to escort the faithful to heaven at their hour of death.
- The third is to be a champion of all Christians, and the Church itself.
- And the fourth is to call men from life on Earth to their heavenly judgment.
Very little is known about St Michael other than what we know from scriptures, which themselves are sparse.
In Daniel, St. Michael is mentioned twice. The first time as one who helped Daniel, and the second time he is mentioned with regard to the end times of the world when he will stand for the “children of thy people.”
His next mention comes in the Epistle of St. Jude, where St. Michael is said to guard the tombs of Moses and Eve and has contended with Satan over the body of Moses.
The final mention is in Revelation, where St. Michael and his angels, do battle with the dragon.
There are other scriptures where St. Michael is implied, but not mentioned by name, such as the angel who defends the gate to Paradise, who defends against Balaam, and “who routed the army of Sennacherib.”

Catholic tradition calls Michael, Gabriel and Raphaelarchangels. The word archangel comes from the Greek words arche and angelos . Michael means “Who is like God?” , Gabriel means “Power of God” or “Strong One of God” and Raphael means “God has healed“. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael are named in the Bible as angels. Only Michael is called an archangel in the Bible. The feast of these angels is celebrated on September 29. In addition to these three Archangels, the Eastern Catholic Churches also venerate Uriel, Selaphiel, Jegudiel, Barachiel and Jerahmeel. The Synaxis of the Holy Archangels is on November 8.
Traditionally, seven Angels were considered to be of special significance, who stand before the Throne of God. Within the hierarchy of the angels, at the highest level, St. Michael is a princely seraph, an angel of supreme power and the leader of God’s army.
Christian art often portrays archangels together. Archangels Michael and Gabriel are jointly depicted on Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary that has been the subject of widespread Catholic devotions for centuries.

Saint Michael is viewed as the commander of the Army of God. From the time of the apostles, he has been invoked and honored as the protector of the Church. Scripture describes him as “one of the chief princes” and the leader of heaven’s forces in their triumph over the powers of hell.
Saint Michael defeats Satan on two occasions, first when he ejects him from Paradise, and secondly in the final battle of the end times when the Antichrist will be defeated by him. Noted hagiographer Alban Butler, defined the role of Saint Michael: “Who is like God?” was the cry of Archangel Michael when he smote the rebel Lucifer in the conflict of the heavenly hosts. And when Antichrist shall have set up his kingdom on earth, it is St Michael who will unfurl once more the standard of the cross, sound the last trumpet, bind together the false prophet and the beast and hurl them for all eternity into the burning pool.
Saint Michael is the traditional prototype of the spiritual warrior, a paradigm extended to other warrior saints. This conflict against evil may at times be viewed as an interior battle. The concept of the warrior saint has extended to other Catholic saints, beginning with examples such as Saint George and Saint Theodore of Amasea.

The Diocese of Dallas continues its preparations for the Dallas Synod that will take place in 2024 by holding 10 public listening sessions in 2022 and 2023. These conversations are an integral part of the synodal process. The discussions at these sessions will follow a different format than our previously concluded Catechetical Sessions.

St. Padre Pio was born Francesco Forgione, on May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcina, Italy. His parents were peasant farmers. He had an older brother and three younger sisters, as well as two other siblings who died in infancy. As a child, he was very religious and by the age of five he reportedly made the decision to dedicate his life to God.

Very few people associate Montreals Irish community with Mile End. All the same, one of its most imposing symbols was originally an Irish church. St. Michael the Archangel Church, built 1914-1915, renamed St. Michaels and St. Anthonys in 1969, is one of the most unusual churches in Montreal. Its Byzantine Revival architecture, its tower resembling a minaret , its mysterious floral stained-glass windows, its frescoes painted by celebrated church decorator Guido Nincheri and its assortment of Irish, Polish and Italian saints make this house of worship a repository of stories of a neighbourhood where cultures overlap and intermingle.
You have to make your way a bit further north, near Jean-Talon Market, to find other reminders of the early migration of the Irish northward from the waterfront. Shamrock Avenue owes its name to the Irish lacrosse team, the Shamrocks. In 1895, the team moved from Sainte-Catherine Street West to a stadium built where Jean-Talon Market now stands, in what was then a rural part of Saint-Louis du Mile End. The clubs exile to the outer reaches of the suburbs coincided with the early days of Saint-Louis du Mile Ends urbanization and the beginning of electric streetcar service. Starting in 1894, a first streetcar line connected the club grounds to central Montreal a second began service in 1895.

Guardian Of The Church
The tradition of Michael as prince-protector of the Jewish people was adopted by the Christian Church. Saint Michael has long been recognized as the protector and guardian of the Church itself and the angel of the Blessed Sacrament. In a 2007 address Pope Benedict XVI urged the bishops he was ordaining to take Michael as a model in making room in the world for God, countering denials of him and thus defending humankind’s greatness, and in acting as “true guardian angels” of the Church. Saint Michael is also the guardian angel of the pope and has been invoked as the patron and guardian angel of many countries as well as specific professions.
