St Paul AME Church Live Worship Service

St. Paul AMEC Ministerial Staff and Leaders are excited for our return to the sanctuary. We recognize the pandemic has changed how we experience worship as a church. Please utilize this section to determine how you can participate each week in worship service. Several church procedures and protocols have been altered to support a safe and healthy service for all who attend during the pandemic. All congregants should read the FAQ section that outlines how members can participate in live worship services. Our weekly participant registration is located in this section. About Our Pastor Reverend Robert L Hodges Sr

Rev. Hodges accepted his call into the ministry under the Leadership of Rev. William R. Porter in1982.He served faithfully at Hemingway Memorial A.M.E Church as youth minister. He taughtSunday school and was instrumental in developing the youth. E.g. taking trips, coaching andconducting leadership training. He was ordained an itinerant elder in 1988 and remainedfaithful to Hemingway until he was appointed as Pastor of Faith A.M.E Church in Laurel,Maryland in 1988. There the journey began as Pastor of a mission church in a school to a full-fledged church.

With an educational background in finance, Rev Hodges decided to give up a lucrative career asDirector of Finance for a large non-profit organization to pursue full time ministry.In the spring of 1992, Faith purchased a synagogue and soon became one of the fastestgrowing congregations of the Northeast regions in the A.M.E Church. It grew from a 10member church to well over 700 members. During his tenure at Faith, they fed the homeless,attended to the needs of the homeless through Elizabeth House and started a hospital ministryat Laurel Hospital. He was a founding member of Concerned citizens of Laurel and served onthe Beltsville Md. Police Department advisory Board.

Then in 2004 He was appointed to Allen A.M.E Church in Baltimore Md. There he was belovedby the congregation. He continued to develop the Church and youth. He served on the advisoryboard of Excel Academy School in Baltimore, Md.

At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved: that is, to seek and save the lost, and serve the needy through a continuing programs of:

With this in mind, St. Paul AME Worship Center will be doing the following:

Canton Outside Of Canton Honoring Warren ‘speedy’ Pyles With Food Giveaway

CANTON Canton Outside of Canton a group of former local athletes, scholars and business leaders is renaming its annual food giveaway to honor Warren “Speedy” Pyles.

The group will hold the Warren “Speedy” Pyles Food Giveaway starting at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul AME Church, 1800 Tuscarawas St. E. The third annual event will go until all the food is given away.

“Since Warren passed away, we are honoring him for his work and the example he was to our community,” said Ray Ellis, one of the leaders of Canton Outside of Canton. “We all feel strongly about supporting our Canton community and this is just one way that we are doing it.”

Pyles, who helped launch the giveaway, died in September in Washington, D.C. He was 69. After his school days at McKinley, while attending Ohio State University, Pyles was among the first African Americans to serve as a page in the Ohio General Assembly. He became a businessman, family man, Shiloh Baptist Church deacon and lifelong leader of the Zeta Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

Canton Outside of Canton will hand out turkeys, hams, perishable and non-perishable items, and gift cards during the giveaway. The Greater Stark County Urban League, city of Canton, Stark County Moving Forward, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, Absolute Health Services, Aultman Health Foundation and the Hall of Fame Village are helping with event.
