Her Strength: Hannah Was Fervent In Prayer And Had A Strong Faith In God

Powerful Women of the Bible: The Mother of Samson

Hannah made a vow to God that if He remembered her and gave her a son, then she would give him back to God. I’m so excited to tell you that, Hannah gave birth to a boy and called him Samuel. The name Samuel means ‘heard of God’ or ‘asked of God’. And Hannah kept her promise and dedicated her son to God.

We will be learning through our bible verses about Hannah, about God’s faithfulness, and Hannah’s perseverance! We will discuss praying fervently and keeping promises in our daily devotionals this month.

You can learn more about what Hannah in the Bible can teach you about being fervent in prayer HERE in our devotionals on these strong women in the Bible.

Simple Story Of Esther:

âSo Queen Esther, daughter of Abihail, along with Mordecai the Jew, wrote with full authority to confirm this second letter concerning Purim. And Mordecai sent letters to all the Jews in the 127 provinces of Xerxesâ kingdomâwords of goodwill and assuranceâto establish these days of Purim at their designated times, as Mordecai the Jew and Queen Esther had decreed for them, and as they had established for themselves and their descendants in regard to their times of fasting and lamentationâ .

Great Women Of The Bible: Deborah

Among strong women in the Bible, who we’d be remiss not to include, is Deborah, a female Israeli judge the only one in fact. We find Deborah’s story in Judges 4-5.

It is in those chapters that we learn of her leadership coming during a time of trial for Israel, yet Deborah was used by the Lord to set her people free and to defeat Canaan’s king, as GotQuestions.org noted.

Deborah’s story shows us some powerful lessons about God and His ability to use any of us for His plans. She’s one of the powerful women in the Bible who shows us what’s truly possible when we listen to the Lord. Here’s a bit more from GotQuestions.org:

“We can see that Gods power is what matters, regardless of the instrument He chooses to use. Man or woman, strong or weak, confident or hesitant all are strong when they are moved by Gods Spirit and filled with His strength. We can also see in Deborah a picture of Gods tender care for His people.”

2 It was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men from the sons of Israel have come here tonight to search out the land.”

3 And the king of Jericho sent word to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the land.”

4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them, and she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.

5 “It came about when it was time to shut the gate at dark, that the men went out I do not know where the men went. Pursue them quickly, for you will overtake them.”

6 But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them in the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.

7 So the men pursued them on the road to the Jordan to the fords and as soon as those who were pursuing them had gone out, they shut the gate.

17 The men said to her, “We shall be free from this oath to you which you have made us swear,

*Mom, I know you dont like swearing, but heres what I mean by the word badass. Its not being contrary, a rebel for rebels sake, or bucking the system. Its actually not about rebelliousness at all. Its someone willing to confront injustice and hardship with integrity and faithfulness. Honestly, most people dont do that. So if someone does, theyre a badass in my book.

With all due respect to Gal Gadot , shes not the original Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter, star of the 1970s TV show, isnt either . If youre looking for the OG wonder women, you gotta go way back to the pages of the Bible. There are no lassos of truth or invisible jets, but there is superhero-sized faith, bold choices, a well-placed tent spike, and a compassionate generosity that turned the world on its head.

With so many incredible female figures to celebrate during Womens History Month, lets not forget the exemplary women of scripture. Ive found an encouraging and challenging call to pursue God with reckless abandon in their stories of strong faith. The stories of these women have had a deep impact on my life. And, for the record, Im a dude.

Guys: Impact isnt gender-specific. If you dont have a female hero to look up to, youre not looking in the right place. Stick with me. Were about to do something about that.

Through an elaborate trick, Rebekah helped influence the dying Isaac into giving his blessing to Jacob instead of Esau. Like Sarah, her action led to division. Even though Rebekah was a loyal wife and loving mother, her favoritism created problems. Thankfully, God can take our mistakes and make good come from them.

Esther An Influential Woman Of The Bible

Strong Women In The Bible: 12 Female Biblical Figures

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your fathers family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this? .

This Scripture has as much weight and resonance today as it did back then. Because you have been born for such a time as this. Your voice matters. You matter. And never let anyone tell you different.

A young Jewish woman in the Persian empire, Esther was beautiful and won the favour of everyone who saw her. But this queen was never meant to be simply ornamental she is one of the most prominent women of the Bible. Faced with the possibility of death, Esther chose to act despite fear when the people she loved were placed in danger. She was a prayerful woman praying and fasting to God, waiting upon His timing. And through her influence, she was able to prevent the genocide of the Jews in her kingdom. How amazing is that!

Eve – The Ezer ImageThe first woman, created by the very hands of God, gets a bad rap. She gets blamed for the tragic choice with the fruit in the Garden, but she wasnt the only guilty party involved. In fact, given a choice, Im pretty sure we all would have done the same. But what many dont realize is that buried in Eves design is a deeply meaningful truth. In Genesis 2:18, God recognizes that Adam isnt faring well alone, so He moves to make a helper for him. The original Hebrew word we translated as helper is actually ezer. This isnt someone to do his laundry and dishes. Its much more profound than that. You see, ezer is only used 21 times in the Hebrew portion of the Bible. Twice its used to describe women, three times to describe help in battle , and the remaining 16 times to describe Gods help to humanity . Far from demeaning, ezer is an empowering and powerful description of how women reflect the very nature of God Himself .

Strong Women In The Bible ~ What Made Esther So Strong

Strong Women of the Bible (Week 1) | PCW

The first thing is that despite all of the consequences that she could have faced such as being parted with her head she still was brave to come before the queen unannounced. AND THEN. When he extended his royal scepter to her she was smart about saving the Jews. She did not burst into court demanding things and causing a scene. Instead she chose to feed him over the course of several nights, get into his favor, and then asked for what she wanted.

On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace, in front of the kings hall. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the hall, facing the entrance. When he saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was pleased with her and held out to her the gold scepter that was in his hand. Esther 7: 1-5

Although Esther was a queen, she had direct influence over the king and was the one behind the scene calling all of the shots AND somehow made him think that he came up with the idea when really it was Esthers plan all along.

So the king and Haman went to Queen Esthers banquet, and as they were drinking wine on the second day, the king again asked, Queen Esther, what is your petition? It will be given you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be granted. Then Queen Esther answered, If I have found favor with you, Your Majesty, and if it pleases you, grant me my lifethis is my petition. And spare my peoplethis is my request. Esther 7: 1-3

Rahab became the ancestress of King David, and from David’s line came Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Rahab played a key role in God’s plan of salvation for the world.

Strong Women In The Bible ~ What Makes Leah Strong

I included Leah as one of the strong women of the Bible because her strength comes from within. She went from being depressed with no sparkle in her eye, to being joyful even though her husband did not really love her. She decided that she was going to be happy and whatever was going on with Jacob and Rachel was no longer going to matter to her. And it really takes a really strong woman to put a smile on their face, even though things in their life are going wrong.

Here are the 7 strong women in the Bible. All displaying and showing their strength in many different ways. A wife, mother, widow, judge, disciple, assassin, a savior of nations, . This shows that as women we are multidimensional and can use our strengths in many different ways and in some cases even more so then men.

If you love this blog post and you know a strong Christian woman then go ahead and share it with her.
