Eternal Benefits Of The Fear Of The Lord

What does the bible say about being scared???

So, rather than a paralyzing terror, the positive fear of the Lord taught in the Bible is a key element in change. It helps us have a proper, humble perspective of ourselves in relation to our awesome God; it helps us in times of temptation when we need to remember the serious consequences of disobeying God; and it motivates us to become more like our loving Creator.

  • Do not let your heart envy sinners, but be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day; for surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off .
  • The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death .
  • The fear of the LORD leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; he will not be visited with evil .

Bible Verses For Anxiety And Worry

I read words – of life – of truth. Soaking them in, over and over, praying them out loud. Until they became so familiar, they replaced the other things in my mind that Id battled against. Theres nothing magical about words and verses, but there is power through them because theyre Gods words.;

Change happened. Anxious thoughts began to diminish. Worry let go of its constant grip. And though fear is sometimes still there, it no longer wields control, holding me back, paralyzing me in its grasp.;

His words are life words, soothing to our soul, calming to our spirits, giving power to our days. ;

Its not always easy, and it often comes down to a choice:;

  • Choosing not to allow fear and anxiety to control your life.;
  • Choosing to guard your heart.;
  • Choosing to focus your mind on what is true in the midst of uncertain times.

We might still feel afraid, but we can believe that God is with us. We may not be in control, but we can trust the One who is.;We may not know the future, but we can know the God who does.

How To Fight Against Fear Of The Unknown

The 25+ best Fear scriptures ideas on Pinterest

When you struggle with worry , try this instead:

Pray and bring petitions and requests to God.

Instead of letting your worry weigh you down, tell God the things you are worried about. Tell Him boldly, honestly, holding nothing back. He may not give you what you ask for, but He does promise a peace that passes understanding.

If you are worried about finances, ask God for provision. If you are worried about your health or the health of a loved one, ask God for healing or protection. If you are worried about COVID-19, ask God for deliverance and mercy.

Be thankful.

Gratitude does wonders for an anxious heart. Find something to thank God for amid your worry. It will not take long to consider how He has taken care of you in the past.

Let the peace of God guard your heart.

When fear of the unknown weighs down your heart, rest on the peace that God promises when you pray. Lean on that peace, and let it guard your heart against more worry and anxiety. Hold onto it like an anchor that can keep you grounded. That peace can protect you from the debilitating effects of anxiety.

Focus on what is good and true instead.

This is the last passage of this article of Bible verses about anxiety because the message is simple. God does not want his people to worry because He takes care of his people. He asks you to trust Him to take care of you, to give you what you need, to be with you and comfort you when suffering comes.

    Yes Fear God If He Exists

    Kenneth G. Lucey, philosophy/religion professor emeritus, University of Nevada

    Assume God, as traditionally conceived, exists. Should a rational person fear God? My answer is definitely yes. Drawing upon the traditional texts, there is ample reason to fear God.

    Consider, for example, His sending the angel of death to kill the first-born children of the Egyptians, after having hardened the heart of the pharaoh, so that he would not release the children of Israel from bondage. Or consider the story of Job and the horrors to which he was subjected to test his faith. Or consider Noahs story, where God willingly wiped out most of Earths life, because he was displeased with his creation. Or consider all the natural horrors of earthquakes, plagues, etc. God allows to ravage humanity.

    So, yes, if this God exists, He should definitely be feared. Yet those very stories are the basis for the atheists denial that an omnibenevolent God exists to begin with.

    What Does The Bible Say About Anxiety

    What does the Bible say about being anxious?

    Anxiety in a persons heart weighs it down, but a good word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25

    If you struggle with feelings of anxiety or fear of the unknown, then you know this is true. It does weigh a heart down with thoughts of worry about finances, health, occupation, relationships, social situations, and others.

    When anxiety is present, it is as if you cannot think about anything else but only what is worrying you. You struggle to focus on what is true and focus instead on the what ifs. Anxiety keeps you paralyzed at times, unable to live fully.

    Casting all your cares on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

    Here is where the good word comes in. Peter encourages his readers to not just tell God in prayer about how you feel when you are anxious but to throw your anxiety at his feet. You may not want to burden God by telling him your worries, but he wants you to because he cares deeply for you.

    He does not want your heart weighed down by fear. He wants you to live in freedom. He wants to carry your burdens so that you dont have to. So be honest with God in prayer. Tell him that you are scared and uncertain. Tell him the thoughts running through your mind.

    There is much to unpack here, and it is one of the most widely quoted Bible verses about worry. It is worth looking at a bit closer because it is also a good word that can lift you from the heaviness of anxiety.

    Temptation Is Not Sin; Yielding To Temptation Is

    With that background, Paul exhorted believers not to make the same choices the Israelites madenot to provoke Gods discipline by willfully sinning. None of us is above Gods discipline if we engage in sin. We must look for and take the way of escape God provides in every situation where temptation is found . To think our temptation is unique is to believe a lie. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man . There are no new temptations in life.

    The apostle James argued that if temptation becomes serious, it is because we have allowed it to do so. Our own desires entice us away from God and desire gives birth to sin . God doesnt tempt us, but He may allow temptation to enter our lives in order to give us opportunities to make obedient and mature choices.

    Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, and He took the same means of escape that is available to usobedience to Gods Word . Temptation is not sin; yielding to temptation is. There is always a righteous choice to be made if we are willing to seek it.

    Fear With Love And Hope

    Sherif A. Elfass, president, Northern Nevada Muslim Community

    Allah says in the Quran: Fear Allah as He should be feared . However, this fear is not like fearing anything or anyone. It is fear combined with love and hope. Fearing God precludes us from committing sins to avert punishment, but only loving God makes us perform many acts of worship and kindness to draw us closer to Him.

    Ibn Al Qayyim, a prominent Muslim scholar, said,;The heart on its journey towards Allah, the Exalted, is like that of a bird. Love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings. When the head is healthy, then the two wings will fly well. When the head is cut off, the bird will die. When either of two wings is damaged, the bird becomes vulnerable to every hunter and predator. Thus, without love, fear and hope, ones relationship with God would not be stable.

    What Prayer Has No Fear

    Joyce Meyer Quote: âThe Bible says to âfear not,â but this ...

    Praise God, I pray for the strength to be thankful for today and the moment, to enjoy the now in the midst of challenges, and to thank God for his favor and grace. Praise God, I am not alone in my fight against fear; I have the Holy Spirit and the angels. The Holy Spirit and the angels are standing with me and in me.

    God Is God And We Are Not

    Steve Bond, co-lead pastor, Summit Christian Church, Sparks

    The Bible urges us to fear God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge . Having an appropriate reverence and holy respect for God is the beginning point for all true knowledge about spiritual realities.

    It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God . God is God and we are not. Recognizing this keeps us sober-minded and humble. Eternity is at stake; our choices matter and God is not to be trifled with.

    When the Apostle John saw the Risen Jesus in his heavenly splendor as God himself, he “fell at his feet as though dead .

    I believe one of the great tragedies today is that people have lost all fear of God. However, the day will come when this will change and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that the Lord is God.
