The Beautiful Idea Of Hannahs Prayer Of Praise

The Most Powerful Prayers in the Bible

In 1 Samuel 2:1-10, after Hannah brought Samuel to the temple to live with the priests, she prayed to the Lord. She praised God for his answer for a son. Her prayer showed her confidence in Gods sovereignty and her thankfulness for everything He had done. She acknowledged God for being her stronghold and thanked Him for His unchanging grace. Despite all the unfortunate events that happened in her life, she put her hope in God. As she declared in 1 Samuel 2:2, there is no other rock like our God. He will never fail.

In 1 Samuel 2:3, Hannah most recalled Penninahs arrogance and chiding against her. Instead of wanting revenge, she surrendered everything to God. She knew that God is all-knowing, and nothing can be hidden from him. He will judge all sin and pride. She let go and let God handle the judgment for all the wrong actions Peninnah made.

Hannahs prayer manifested Gods sovereignty over the things she doesnt control. She saw God as a rock and an all-knowing God. She also knew that God is sovereign over all affairs of his people and the Supreme Judge that administer perfect justice. Hannah praised Gods unique holiness, justice, and faithfulness. And she believed that God hears and answers prayers. He is in control of our lives. And those people who are oppressed and afflicted can turn to Him for refuge.

Bible Verses About Hope

When all seems hopeless, Gods message about our future can deeply encourage us. The Bible is full of scripture about hope and its good to be reminded from time to time of the hope that God offers to us.

  • Psalm 62:5-8 Yes, my soul, find rest in God my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation he is my fortress, I shall not be shaken. My salvation and my honour depend on God he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
  • Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
  • Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
  • Romans 12:9-12 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
  • Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
  • Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Tax Collectors Humble Prayer Before The Lord

The story of the tax collector is one of the famous parables Jesus told. During biblical times, the people who lived near Jerusalem went to the temple to pray. It was the center of their worship. Two men, a Pharisee, and a despised tax collector went to the temple to pray. In Luke 18:11, the Pharisee stood proudly by himself in front of many people. He prayed, God, I thank you that I am not like other peoplerobbers, evildoers, adulterersor even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.

The Pharisee didnt go to the temple to pray but to announce to the public how righteous he was. His prayer focused on the good things he made for God. On the other hand, the tax collector couldnt even lift his eyes to heaven and stood at the distance. He beat his chest in sorrow as he prayed to God recognizing his sin and begging for mercy. He humbly asked for Gods forgiveness. Here, Jesus explained that the tax collector and not the Pharisee went home justified before God . God will humble those who exalted themselves and exalt those who humbled themselves before God.

The Background Of Jonahs Prayer Of Repentance

Pin on Promises of God

Jonah acknowledged his sin and turned to God in repentance. During his lowest low, he uttered a prayer that attributes to Gods power and glory. He started his prayer before God by comparing his situation as crying out from Sheol, the place of the dead. At that moment, he knew that he needed salvation. And God heard his plea.

Jonah saw Gods sovereign hand over his troubles. As he conveyed his thoughts and fears during his horrific experience, he acknowledged God as the all-powerful Creator. He understood that this was Gods judgment for his disobedience to follow Gods call for him to prophesize to Nineveh. Regardless, he turned back to God, admitting that he has no hope without Him. During his hopeless time, Jonah saw the fish as Gods way of intervening and saving him from drowning. There was no assurance of what might happen, but he used the unexpected extension of his life to praise God.

In his prayer, he reiterated how his cry from beneath the earth still reached God. Despite having sinned, Gods mercy rescued him. He acknowledged that it is impossible to put his trust in other things other than God. In Gods presence, he found redemption. As he ended his prayer, he committed himself again to the Lord. He promised obedience and surrendered his fate completely into Gods hands.

Jesus Prayer In The Garden Of Gethsemane

Image from Wikimedia Commons

Our sins separate us from God, who is holy and righteous. The Scripture teaches that no amount of human goodness, works, or activity can earn us the acceptance of God. We all fall short of the glory of God . But God loves us so much that he sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save us from our sins. God is perfect love and full of grace and mercy. Therefore, with His love and grace, He hasnt left us without hope and a solution. He made a perfect plan to save us and connect with him, through his Son, Jesus Christ.

Before Jesus fulfilled Gods plan of salvation, he prayed to God in the garden of Gethsemane. He was in great anguish over his approaching physical pain and separation from God. Though Jesus knew his crucifixion was inevitable and of Gods will, His human nature still struggled. His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane showed his humble submission to God regardless of his suffering.

Matthew 26:39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.

Jesus not only prayed once but twice that Gods will be done. Many people dont understand the reason for their suffering, but Jesus knew His future would hold suffering. Yet, Jesus still prayed let your will be done. This shows Jesus had firm trust in Gods plans, and He willingly obeyed.

Short Bible Verses For Everyday Life

John 11:35

Jesus wept.

Of all the short Bible verses, this is the shortest. And what a great thing to know! Jesus showed emotion just like we do. He wasnt a mechanical robot disinterested in the lives of people. Jesus cared for others and empathized with their pain. He understood what it meant to be sad and expressed those emotions himself. In this instance, he was sad over the death of his close friend Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha.

I Thessalonians 5:16

Rejoice always.

Here the Apostle Paul is challenging his readers to demonstrate an attitude of joy at all times. Even though life is hard, we have so much to rejoice about. We may not be happy about our life circumstances just like the early Christians werent happy about being persecuted for their faith. But they still had an inner joy because they remembered all that God had done for them.

I Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing.

Paul wasnt done with writing short Bible verses. In his very next one he encourages the Thessalonians to pray, pray and pray some more. But what did he mean to pray without ceasing. Does that mean literally 24-hrs. a day? Probably not.

The emphasis here is on having a continual attitude of seeking God in prayer at all times, no matter what the circumstances. We can pray anytime, anywhere and should always be looking to do so. God wants us to routinely seek him in prayer.

I Thessalonians 5:22

Abstain from every form of evil.

John 3:30

He must increase I must decrease.

. Consequently, who was the strongest in the Bible?

Samson was said to be so strong that he could uplift two mountains and rub them together like two clods of earth, yet his superhuman strength, like Goliath’s, brought woe upon its possessor.

Likewise, what does the Bible say about renewing your strength? The Good News: It takes strength to be forgiving and understanding, but we must take a lesson from God and do it too. “But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint.”

You Are Worth More Than Many Sparrows

âAre not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Donât be afraid you are worth more than many sparrows.â

Sparrowsâ lives were of so little value that each was worth less than a penny. In fact, the parallel passage from Matthewâs gospel tells us that two were sold for a penny, and so Luke is revealing here that if you purchased four, one was thrown in for free. But God knows every single sparrow, no matter how little value they hold to humans.

And you are worth more than many of them.

God knows you better than you know yourself . And while that might seem like a trivial piece of information, the point Jesus is making is this: God knows you so well that no one can harm a hair on your head without him knowing. You are so valuable to the God who created you that he has taken the time to become intimately familiar with every detail about you.

God Will Provide A Way Out

âNo temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.â

Sin often makes us feel as though weâre alone in our struggles. Shame lets us believe we are uniquely wicked for the temptations we face in our hearts and minds. But when Paul wrote to the church in Corinthâan ancient Greek city which had a reputation for depravityâhe told them their temptation was simply part of being human.

He also told them a secret about temptation: it will never be more than you can bear, and thereâs always a way out.

When youâre in the middle of being tempted to sin, it can feel like itâs inevitable that youâre going to mess up. But thatâs not the reality. Thereâs always a way out. It may not be easy. It might come with consequences. But if you look, itâs there, and you can overcome the temptation youâre facing.

Jesus Agonizes In The Garden

Jesus prayer in the garden reveals his terrible suffering. He knew what lay ahead of him, and the reason he needed to do it. The anguish he felt was worse than death, but he still paid for our sins by dying on the cross. However, though there was pain, Jesus reaffirmed his desire to accomplish Gods will by saying Gods will to be done. He firmly trusted Gods plan and obeyed him regardless of all his struggles. Jesus relationship with God the Father gave him the strength to obey. Jesus took our sins upon himself to save us from suffering and separation from God.

Inspiration From The Books Of Poetry

The Bible is full of poems, but Psalms, Song of Songs, and Lamentations are distinct works of beautiful poetry.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures,he leads me beside quiet waters,he refreshes my soul.He guides me along the right pathsfor his names sakeEven though I walkI will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me.You prepare a table before mein the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil my cup overflows.Surely your goodness and love will follow meall the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LordForever.

Davids words in Psalm 23 are some of the most inspiring ever penned. It makes sense that this specific Psalm is used to bring comfort to people who are walking through the most trying and difficult times.

Why are these verses inspirational? The image of God as a shepherd protecting and guiding his sheep is evocative and beautiful. To truly understand that he can be trusted to provide for us and protect us from our enemies has a way of completely transforming the way we look at our lives.

Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love.

Why is this verse inspirational? If you take this book at face value as an ode to love, this is an inspiring reminder of the importance of love and relationship. If you also see this as a metaphor for Gods relationship with you, its a graphic reminder that Gods love is what drives him to pursue you.
