Anna In The Bible The Testimony Of Two Witnesses
Anna and Simeon didnt just happen to be at the right place at the right time. They were there for such a time as this. They were there to be a witness. A witness to the coming of the Messiah. The hope for the people of Israel. The hope of the world through him. The Biblical law was clear that there must be two or three witnesses legally to prove that something occurred as we can see,

Out of every woman born at that time, Anna in the Bible was chosen to be a witness to the redemption of Israel and the world. She and Simeon are the first two to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Lord. That He was the promise realized by the prophets of old. He was their salvation.
Lessons We Can Learn From Anna The Prophetess
1. Dont Ever Give Up
Im sure there are many times that you and I have wanted to give up.
We can get lonely, sick, and exhausted. But Anna continued to pray for her prayers to be answered the Redeemer.
We may have others who come alongside to encourage us and may experience some positive outcomes, but Anna praying for 60 years must have been difficult, and I wonder if she didnt even consider giving up.
However, she didnt and continued to with many people.
Gods timing is truly perfect. Think about it. If Christ had come the first day she was widowed, how many people would have never heard the message of salvation. We must never give up.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.onsider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

2. Always Obey What God Tells You to
Anna was told by God what to do! She listened and obeyed, and her life was changed. How about you? Has he told you something but you are afraid, maybe lazy or simply disobedient? The blessings of being obedient far outweigh any of our fears or concerns.

What I’ve Learned From Anna
I would have love to have been a fly on the wall to watch Anna through her 84 years. How she might have shared her pain of losing her husband, being single, and relying on others financially. To also see her share her joy, hope and security in Jesus Christ.
1. She didn’t give up.There have been times in my ministry that I have wanted to give up. Being on the road can get hard. You miss your friends, your church and your community. Sometimes churches cancel, leaving you without finances and resources. Sometimes you get lonely, sick and exhausted. But like Anna, I have also experienced many positives that far outweigh the negatives. I have met so many people who have encouraged me. I have also witnessed many come to Christ and recommit to him. Just think of Anna and how for at least 60 or more years she was able to share her faith with so many people. God’s timing is truly perfect. Think about it. If Christ had come the first day she was widowed, how many people would have never heard the message of salvation. We must never give up.
2. She did what God told her to do.Anna was told by God what to do and she did it. How about you? Has God told you to do something but you are afraid? Lazy? Being disobedient? The blessings of being obedient far outweigh the blessings of staying safe.

What Does The Bible Say About Anna
Anna is first mentioned in Luke 2 when Mary and Joseph took baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, . She and a righteous and devout man named Simon each bore witness to the child, Jesus, being Gods promised Messiah .
The Holy Spirit nudged Simon to go towards the temple courts where Jesus was. When Simon saw the child, he praised God:
Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel .
Anna was right there as a witness.

Anna Endured Through Lifes Challenges
The first lesson Anna teaches us is that we can endure lifes challenges. The Bible points out that Anna became a widow after being married only seven years, yet lived until the age of 84 unmarried. Not only that, through the rest of her life she remained committed to serving God.
During a time when women were highly dependent on a husband, Annas endurance without one for all those years should not be taken lightly. We dont see her begging God for a new husband nor blaming God for her short marriage. She chose to tell them the news of the Savior that was coming, no matter how long it might be before he came. She knew her purpose and she didn’t let anyone’s opinions or comments keep her from it. God Gives Us Reason For Thanksgiving
The first thing Anna did, when she came across Simeon and Jesus, was to give thanks to God for his Son. She understood what Jesus meant for the people of Jerusalem, for she told everyone who was waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem that the Redeemer had arrived.
What a day this must have been for Anna! She had been worshiping and praying for most of her days, and she had been in the company of God Almighty on a regular basis. On this day she was given the great honor of being in the company of the One who came to redeem Jerusalem and the world.
Anna gave thanks.
To read that she gave thanks seems a bit underwhelming for such an immense privilege. Anna knew Who she had seen, and she knew the One to whom she had to express her gratitude. Perhaps a simple thank you was enough between Anna and God, for they were close.
Anna then shared the good news with others who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. And Luke shared Annas story in his gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, the One who was born for the Redemption of the world.

Saint Anna the prophetess was the daughter of Phanuil, of the line of Asher. She lived this way of life untiringly and was able to see the Lord when He was taken to the Temple, forty days after His birth in the flesh, by His Most Holy Mother, and by Joseph the Right.
Anna the prophetess is one of the biblical prophets. The Evangelist Luke calls her a prophetess because she had the Holy Spirit. The vision of the Christ Child was also enjoyed by the prophetess Anna. It has been hypothesized that she was a cultic prophetess, in the sense that she offered sacrifice for those who were wronged and needed Gods help.

Anna In The Bible A Fulfillment Of Ancient Prophecy
Some may ask how Anna in the Bible recognized Jesus, the answer is found in John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice I know them, and they follow me. Because of the fact that Anna lived her life devoted to God, she was able to recognize her shepherd when He arrived and through her witness ancient prophecy is fulfilled.
Malachi 3:1-5 Is fulfilled regarding the coming of the Messiah in their presence.
Behold, I send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me. And the Lord , Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple the Messenger or Angel of the covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He shall come, says the Lord of hosts.

Age Is Of No Consequence To God
Anna had been a widow for the better part of her 84 years during a time when widows had no means of support besides their children or charity. Were not told whether Anna had any children, but my guess is that she was alone in the world. It is possible that she lived at the temple because she had no place else to live.
No matter, she made the best of her years by worshiping, praising, and honoring God all of her days.
Age is of no consequence to God. He can use any of us at any age. Dont count yourself out because you are too young or too old.
