The concept of the law in this epistle is said to differ from what might be expected from James.

The writer of this epistle seems to view the Law in regard to its ethical obligations rather than in its ritual. There is a curious silence regarding the burning question of circumcision with which James was so deeply involved.10 however by viewing the Law in this light, James is emulating Jesus’ teaching .
