Center Point Church Lead Pastor In Icu With Covid

Church leaders expressed thanks to the doctors taking care of him and to those continuing to pray for him.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Leaders of a Lexington church are continuing to ask for prayers after their lead pastor was hospitalized with COVID-19.

Center Point Church Lead Pastor Tim Parsons tested positive on Monday, congregation member Tyson Steelman shared in a virtual service on Sunday morning. In-person services were canceled.

On Friday the conditions worsened, Steelman says. He was taken to the emergency room and as of right now, he is being intubated at the hospital.

Associate pastor Graham Withers released the following statement:

We recognize and deeply appreciate our communitys concern regarding our pastor and our church. We are incredibly thankful that Tim is being treated by the excellent medical professionals that we have in our city. Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to move our worship experience online only this week. Church leadership will continue to monitor the situation and adjust accordingly.

Center Point leadership continues to work closely together to care for the Parsons family and our entire church congregation during this time. We appreciate ongoing prayers for our pastor and our church.

Throughout the pandemic, churches have had to adapt to changing conditions regarding community transmission of the coronavirus. Many opted for virtual services even after the governors restrictions were lifted.

Center Point Grieves Loss Of Staff Members But Holds Hope And Joy

Welcome to Center Point Church

LEXINGTON, Ky. The Center Point Church family has an aching heart and for good reason. It has been an unthinkable week with the passing of two staff leaders – Senior Pastor Tim Parsons and Executive Director Chuck Vellios – coming only days apart.

The church is grieving the loss of two outstanding spiritual leaders, men who impacted countless lives for the kingdom, men who led well and discipled hundreds for Jesus Christ, men who put the gospel in the forefront of their lives and led many of these members to a profession of faith.

And now theyre gone, both dying from COVID-related symptoms. It has been a shattering time for the church whose focus was on how these men lived and the impact they made on so many.

Its a stinging loss that wont heal quickly, but they have hope and joy for the days ahead because of Jesus Christ, said associate pastor Graham Withers.

Theres a realism that we have in grief, he said. We dont want people to act like its no big deal. But were not grieving as those who dont have hope. We have hope Jesus wrapped His arms around both Tim and Chuck, we have hope well see them again one day and we have hope that God has not forgotten or forsaken us.

The celebration service for Parsons, a beloved pastor, on Monday was uplifting and encouraging. News came on the same day after the service that Vellios, another loved staff member, had passed away. His Life Celebration service will be Wednesday at the church.
