What The Bible Says About Trusting God

Gods Command To Fear Not

Object Lesson About Trusting God

God says Do not fear hundreds of times throughout the Bible. But what does that mean? Was my 7th-grade-self sinning? Are you wrong to feel fear when youre not sure how to pay next months rent or when you get that dire health diagnosis or when your job is on the line?

No. Youre not wrong. God wired our brains to experience fear. It is a primary emotion. There is a reason and purpose for our fear as we respond to triggering stimuli. When God says, Do not fear he is not commanding us to shut off a part of our brain. His model citizen isnt an emotionless and stoic robot.

The real issue God wants us to wrestle with is where we go when we fear. Where do you go with your fears? How do you deal with them?

Simply put, God wants us to come to him. Fear can paralyze us. Yet when we fear in the presence of God, God help us take the next step of faith even in the midst of our fear! Unfortunately, no one will be able to escape fear in this sinful and broken world. It is real. It can be paralyzing. It is powerful.

But God is more powerful.

He has the power and desire to be with us in the midst of our fears. Remembering this will enable to us to take the next step of faithfulness in our lives. How? Because God is with us. We can continue to fight to believe Jesus is more in and through our fears thanks to his presence with us.

Bible Verses About Trusting Gods Will

Sometimes people get confused about Gods sovereignty. They think everything that happens is Gods will. But it is not. Things that happen around us and to us have a lot to do with your free will, your choices, the fallen world we live in, and more.

To know Gods will you have to study the bible and you have to develop a personal relationship with Him. Only then you will know who God is and how He operates.

One thing is sure: Gods will is perfect, He is a loving Father, and He is always for us , and never against us.

Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:15-17

In everything, give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men

1 Peter 2:15

For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise

Hebrews 10:36

What Does Jesus Say About Trusting God

In Mark 5:21-43, we encounter a story of Jesus healing Jairus daughter. Jairus, one of the synagogue leaders, comes to find Jesus because his daughter is sick and dying. Before Jesus arrives at Jairus house, some people come to them and tell Jairus that his daughter has died. By bother the teacher anymore? they ask.

Jesus responds by saying, Dont be afraid just believe. In others words, Jesus tells Jairus: Trust me.

When it comes to trusting God, Jesus has a few things to say: First, trust God to provide for your needs. We see this in Matthew 6, 25 and 26. God cares for you he will provide for you. Second, trust Jesus: believe in him trust him. In the story of Jairus daughter, Jesus implies that we should trust him to make things right, and trust him to defeat even death itself.

In John 10:10, Jesus assures his hearers that he comes to give them life. We should trust Jesus with our lives, and we should trust him to give us life, and to give it abundantly.

In John 14:1, Jesus tells his hearers to believe in God, and believe also in him. Here, Jesus is making a connection between the identity of God the Father and himself. In retrospect, we know this is because Jesus not only fulfills the Jewish expectation of the coming Messiah Jesus himself is divine, equal to the Father. Jesus also tells us that when we trust God the Father, and we trust Jesus, it is like a balm for our troubled hearts.

Trusting In God Day To Day

And listen, my friend, dont just wait for the big, tragic, overwhelming times to trust God.

Trust Him in your daily life.

Trust Him as you parent, as you care for your home, as you work, as you answer your kids questions and seek answers for your own, and for grace to cover every moment.Recently, for me, that meant that I had to trust God to help us find a plumber when our upstairs shower was leaking into our downstairs living room. I had to rely on Him for joy when all I really wanted to do was cry and ask Him to help me be thankful when all I was feeling was downright ticked at the guy who installed our relatively new shower. And I had to obey Him to not grumble or complain, but in everything to give thanks. You know what I learned? I learned that trusting God in the mundane, daily things can be harder than with the big things.

But He is every bit as faithful. My circumstances didnt miraculously change I still had to call around, wait, get estimates, and deal with the construction and repairs. But my heart and mind? There was definitely a miracle worked on the inside! Im learning, day by day, to trust God more.

A Prayer To Trust That God Goes Before You

Thank you, Lord, that you have been sending us your promises from the very beginning of time. Thank you for your faithfulness, as you give the definition of faithful a true meaning. You have never and will never break a promise. Time and time again throughout all Scripture, you promise to lead us and guide us, to never leave us, nor forsake us. Thank you that you have already paved a way and wherever we are sitting in this very moment, you are near us and one step ahead of us.

Whatever we are facing, Lord, we can trust that you know whats next and are protecting us along the way. We ask that in those moments where doubt creeps in, that you would remind of us todays verse. When fear creeps in of what is going to happen, remind us that you are in total control and that you have already gone before us, youll be with us during it, and youll go behind us. Thank you that you are trustworthy for these beautiful promises to help navigate us through this life.

In your mighty name we pray, Amen – Alisha Headley

It’s More Than Not Trusting God

I don’t know about you, but that is a grievous thought to me, and it convicts me thinking about all the times I have trusted in something or someone else besides Him for my well-being, my hope, and my life. We do it unknowingly, or we think it is not that big of a deal, but we don’t understands that by doing so, we are leaving God. It is more than ‘not trusting’ it is departing from Him. You may say, ‘That sounds a bit extreme, surely God understands.’ But the Word says that we are departing.

It is not pleasing to God when we do not trust in the Lord it is a sin against Him. I don’t want to sin against God I don’t want to displease Him.

And we all must face the reality that when we don’t trust in God, we are departing from Him. This verb departing in verse 5 in the Hebrew is an imperfect tense, meaning that there is not necessarily a completed act, but one that simply is ongoing. By continuing to not trust in God, we are continually departing from Him further and further. The result is a heart that is slowly being hardened.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end Hebrews 3:12-14 KJV

Why Does God Want Us To Trust

What Does the Bible Say About Trusting God?

When we look at what the Bible says about trusting God, we discover that God wants us to trust him instead of trusting in ourselves, other people, or worldly circumstances.

Trusting God reinforces his sovereignty in our lives, and it gives us a firm foundation. Placing our trust in worldly things a paycheck, our career, or even our own skill set, means that we are trusting in things that dont last. Trusting in God gives us a firm foundation. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. This is true of God the Father and the Holy Spirit as well. God doesnt change. He is trustworthy, and he is eternal. In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus tells the parable of the wise and foolish builders. The foolish builder builds his house on sand, and when a storm comes, the entire house falls because the foundation was unstable. Trust God by building your life on a foundation of his word, and a relationship with him.

By trusting God to lead us, to help us in times of trouble, and to walk with us through our lives, we are saying that it is him that we trust above all other things. God wants us to rely on him because he created the whole universe: he knows how it works best he knows what hes doing and he knows how it all ends.
