While she repeatedly kissed Jesus feet, a repentant woman kept weeping . This was in the hope of a Pharisee named Simon, who judged her and Jesus. As Gods Son, of course, Jesus knew the Pharisees thoughts, told a quick parable, rebuked the Pharisee, and told the woman that her sins were forgiven. That provoked much criticism of Jesus, who ignored it and went on to tell the woman, Your faith has saved you go in peace . What a great picture of Gods desire that none perish, but that all come to repentance . Its the gospel in action!
When Jesus came to raise Jairus daughter from the dead, professional mourners were weeping and wailing . Jesus rebuked them, sent them out of the house, and asked Jairus and his wife to take Him and three disciples to the girl. Jesus raised her from the dead. Again, what a great picture of our sure hope.
2. Acts
Peter comforted the friends and beneficiaries of Dorcas and raised her from the dead. Paul sought to challenge and comfort two groups while heading for arrest in Jerusalem.
3. Revelation

So the shortest verse in the Bible is John 11 verse 35. It says Jesus wept and by itself is quite intriguing. But especially when you think about the broader context of whats happening. Why did Jesus weep?
Because when you look at the context of what happened. In John 11, its powerful at the beginning of the narrative. Jesuss friend Lazarus is sick, and they call him and say, you know what Jesus come and heal him. What happens is Jesus asked away a couple of days before heading out normally Lazarus dies.
Now four days later, Jesus arrives in Bethany, and by then, its too late, so to speak, because Lazarus is dead. Hes been in the grave for two days.
Lazarus, his two sisters Mary and Martha, who are also Friends of Jesus, are winking and crying and saying, Jesus, why couldnt you come sooner? If you had come sooner, everything would have been All right.
The funny thing about the scenario is that Jesus had already said to his disciple before he arrived there that he said Lazarus was sleeping. As they went on their journey, he plainly said to them Lazarus is dead.
He not only leaves it there, but he also says something really powerful and really about he says, and for your sake, Im glad I wasnt there because hes only going to showcase and glorified God even higher.

What is the shortest verse in the New Testament? Did you respond Jesus wept? No, that is the third shortest verse in the New Testament.
Granted, Jesus wept is the shortest verse in English. In English it is 9 letters long. But in Greek it is 16 letters long .
For a long time I have known that there is a shorter verse in Greek. That is 1 Thessalonians 5:16, rejoice always, which is only 14 letters in Greek .
But a few years ago, one of my Greek students, Steven Malan, pointed out to me that there is a verse that is even shorter in Greek. That verse is Luke 20:30 and the second, which in Greek has only 12 letters . This ridiculously short verse is found in the section where Jesus is being verbally challenge by the Sadducees : Now there were seven brothers and the first took a wife and died childless 30and the second 31and the third married her and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children. 32Finally the woman died also.
So Jesus wept comes in third. And the second comes in first.
