How Many Times Is Be Not Afraid In The Bible

Bible Verses For Anxiety And Worry

Do not Fear nor be Afraid, Isaiah 44 September 30th, 2021

I read words – of life – of truth. Soaking them in, over and over, praying them out loud. Until they became so familiar, they replaced the other things in my mind that Id battled against. Theres nothing magical about words and verses, but there is power through them because theyre Gods words.

Change happened. Anxious thoughts began to diminish. Worry let go of its constant grip. And though fear is sometimes still there, it no longer wields control, holding me back, paralyzing me in its grasp.

His words are life words, soothing to our soul, calming to our spirits, giving power to our days.

Its not always easy, and it often comes down to a choice:

  • Choosing not to allow fear and anxiety to control your life.
  • Choosing to guard your heart.
  • Choosing to focus your mind on what is true in the midst of uncertain times.

We might still feel afraid, but we can believe that God is with us. We may not be in control, but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future, but we can know the God who does.

He and his wife have no children they are barren. Their deepest desire has been denied them. But then, there in the Temple, an angel of God comes to him and said, Do not be afraid. The angel said this because Zechariah was terrified, and fear overwhelmed him. Be not afraid, Zechariah, for your prayers have been heard. Does God Command Us To Love Him

God has instructed us to love him, not for Gods sake, but for our own. If we love God for this reason, it is because God first loved us, and we are grateful for that. That God initially loved us for the very same reason namely, that we could find our greatest good and happiness in him is a fascinating topic to consider.

Fear has a way of sneaking up on us when were not looking.Of course, theres a certain amount of horror we can expect when we take that yearly trip through one of the most haunted sites in America on Halloween or when we settle in with some popcorn to watch a frightening movie on Halloween night. When it comes to the other, more serious anxieties that we have, we are stuck.Watching a loved one through cancer treatment, or the possibility of losing a job, suffering a miscarriage, or being involved in a vehicle accident are all examples of stressors.

    Does God Speak Through Anxiety

It is possible to pray to God and ask him to guide us through a difficult situation when we are anxious, upset, or afraid. God does not employ terror tactics, despite the fact that he may be extremely clear in his responses at times. Our hearts and thoughts will be filled with Gods words when he speaks to us. He expresses himself in terms of tranquility rather than tension.

Many people say, Its a nice thought to say that there are 365 Fear nots in the Bible, but its not true. Indeed, there is not a version of the Bible that 365 times says, quote unquote, Fear not. For instance, the King James Version says Fear not or Be not afraid 103 times, but not 365 times.

Fear Nots From David In The Psalms

Among the most famous fear nots in the Psalms is the last one in verse 22. This assurance from the Lord says that those who seek refuge in Him will not be condemned. This is an assurance that the righteous will be saved from evil, while the wicked will perish. But if youre afraid of evil, you still need to pray. By practicing the watch and pray technique with Jesus, you will prepare your heart for temptation and overcome your fears.

The phrase fear not appears more than 100 times in the Old Testament and 44 times in the New Testament. The exact number depends on the word used to translate fear, but its a significant number. There are several synonyms for fear, including frightened, cowardly, and anxious. But, the real meaning of fear is the opposite of fear. Instead of being afraid of evil, we should fear God and trust Him.

The Psalms contain many examples of fear nots. In the Old Testament, the phrase occurs more than a hundred times, while the New Testament contains forty-four times. The exact count depends on the Hebrew and Greek words used to translate it. The word fear has multiple synonyms, including anxious, afraid, and dismayed. As Davids own life was threatened, he became frightened and sought Gods deliverance.

Do not be afraid, for I am with you do not be discouraged, for I am your God I will strengthen you, I will assist you, and I will uphold you with my righteous right hand, says the Lord. Do not be frightened of the king of Babylon, whom you are terrified of. I am with you to save you and save you from his grasp, says the LORD. Do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD.

How Many Times Does The Bible Tell Us Not To Fear

A common saying among Christians today is, Fear not is in the Bible 365 times. I saw this on a Facebook post and was surprised at how many Christians agreed with the statement. The Bible does tell us not to fear, but not 365 times. Lets see how many times I can come up with.

Doing a search for fear not in my King James Pure Bible software, I came up with 63 occurrences, but two of those occurrences are not telling us not to fear.

Psalms 55:19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

I also removed Judges 4:18 because Jael is telling Sisera not to fear so she can catch him off guard and kill him!

Judges 4:18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.

And I removed from the list 2 Samuel 13:28 because evil Absalom is telling his servants not to fear to kill his brother Ammon!

2 Samuel 13:28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnons heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

And 2 Kings 17:34 was removed because its talking about people who do not fear the Lord.

Faith vs Fear – What Does The Bible Say? – Fear Not God is With Us – Jesus Christ

The King James Version of the Bible is one such book. The writer of this passage emphasized that it is a warning for us. When we are afraid, we must remind ourselves that God is Omnipotent. He is the only one who is Omniscient, omnipotent, and the source of our strength. The implication is clear: when we are scared, we should turn to God and trust in Him.

The phrase fear not is used more than one hundred times in the Bible: in the Old Testament it appears more than 100 times, and in the New Testament it is used 44 times. The number of instances depends on the Greek and Hebrew words used. It has synonyms like cowardly, dismayed, anxious, and worried. While this is an encouraging passage, it is also important to note that it is not intended to be interpreted as a command to fear.

The word fear not is found in the Old Testament over 100 times and in the New Testament 44 times. Although the exact count is difficult to calculate, it is clear that the phrase is a call to fear, and that God does not want anyone to be afraid. The expression can mean many different things, including cowardly, worried, anxious, and dismayed. Regardless of the original language, it is a clear and encouraging reminder that God is on the side of those who are afraid.
