Twice As Nice: Immanuel Unanimous In Bringing Back Ron Edmondson
- May 22, 2022
LEXINGTON, Ky. Immanuel Baptist Churchs membership was unanimous in calling Ron Edmondson to be the senior pastor for the second time on Sunday.
Cheryl and I are humbled to be returning to Immanuel Baptist Church. We certainly did not see this coming in our life, but I consider it one of the highest honors to be called twice as pastor of this great, historic church, Edmondson said.
He was senior pastor of Immanuel for six years before leaving in 2018 after leading the church through a revitalization period to become one of the 100 fastest-growing churches, according to Outreach magazine.
Since leaving Immanuel, Edmondson has served in multiple high-capacity leadership roles throughout the country. He was CEO of Leadership Network in Dallas, an organization that convenes innovative leaders and churches in collaborative conversations to accelerate growth and innovation, and also at Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, all the while continuing to coach and consult businesses and business leaders around the country.
Dale Suttles, a member at IBC and the president of Sunrise Chldren’s Services, said Edmonson and his wife were always popular at the church.
For his part, the 57-year-old Edmondson is looking forward to returning as senior pastor at Immanuel and furthering kingdom impact in Lexington.
Now, hes ready to roll up his sleeves and continue to keep Immanuel growing as a church that does great things for the Lord.

Immanuel Baptist Church Relaunches New Campus On Armstrong Mill
LEXINGTON, Ky. After months of planning, Immanuel Baptist Church is opening a new campus on Sunday, Feb. 4, on Armstrong Mill Road. IBCs main campus will remain on Tates Creek Road.
Immanuel is partnering with the congregation at Victory Baptist Church to form IBCs new branch campus, Immanuel Baptist at Armstrong Mill. Victory Baptist originally began as a church plant of Immanuel 25 years ago, but has struggled in recent years with resources and sustainability.
Immanuel Baptist at Armstrong Mill will offer another venue for those seeking community, truth, and grace in their lives, said Ron Edmondson, senior pastor of IBC. Can we do church in a different way? A way which revitalizes congregations, restores buildings and grows the kingdom of God?
According to Edmondson, IBC at Tates Creek has grown quickly over the past few years, giving the church an opportunity to pursue new ways to better serve the city.
Rather than starting another campus from scratch, we began to explore the idea of restarting existing churches, said Edmondson. When Victory Baptist first contacted us, we just knew God had to be in this.
Edmondson plans to teach live at both campuses.
Immanuel Baptist Church at Armstrong Mill will be holding its main service at 10 a.m. on Sundays and is located at 2261 Armstrong Mill Road.
