The books of Galatians and James are thought to be the oldest in the New Testament Canon, written by 49 A.D.Have you ever thought about which books of the New Testament were written first? Reading The Epistles With Acts
Over 25 percent of the New Testament was written by the apostle Paul, and all of his letters fit into the narrative Luke provides in Acts. Reading Pauls epistles as we read alongside his missionary journeys can give us a new appreciation for his relationship to these churches and their backstory.
In Acts 17, we read about some of the struggles Paul went through in planting the church at Thessalonica. This provides a perfect backdrop for reading his first and second letters to the Thessalonian churches.

What Is The Structure And Content Of The New Testament
There are four historical books in the New Testament, namely: The Gospel According to Mathew, The Gospel According to Mark, The Gospel According to Luke, and The gospel According to John, and the Book of Acts as well. The purpose of these chapters is to tell the story of Jesuss life and the Catholic Church.

How Were The Books Of The Bible Established
The books of the Bible were originally written on scrolls. In synagogues, keepers looked after the scrolls and stored them in the order of their choosing, or as they were instructed. Hence, no specific order of the books of the Bible was established in ancient times.
The invention of the printing press in 1440 made it possible to print Bibles and thereby make them more accessible. However, the increased circulation resulted in varying book divisions of the Bible being printed and read.
Over time, the modern-day Bible with the book divisions that we are familiar with has emerged as the most common version of the Bible to be printed and is used as a standard reference for most Bibles today.
Another Option: Read The Bible In Chronological Order
Another option is to read the Bible in the order that the events actually happened. This approach would be to take the books and sometimes smaller portions of the Bible and arrange them in chronological order.
The arrangements of the books in the Bible are not chronological. For example, the historical book of Ezra can be enhanced by the prophetical books of Haggai and Zechariah even though they are not in the same section. Haggai and Zechariah were prophets that encouraged the people during the time of Ezra, so itd be helpful to know what they said when you read Ezra.
As an example, if you read in the Bible in order, you would read all the historical books and then reading the prophetical books afterward. Rather than doing that, it makes more sense to read the Historical books along with the Prophetical books that happened during the same time as them.
The recommended list in the section above follows a roughly chronological order of the major events and storyline of the Bible. This second option puts the entire Bible into chronological order.

Why Is The Bible So Important To Christians
The Bible is the Word of God and the ultimate declaration of His love, mercy, and ultimately, the gift of Salvation to mankind.
In 2 Timothy 3:16, it states that the Bible is God-breathed, in order to teach, train, rebuke, and correct us in our faith walk.
The Bible contains truths and commandments that, at times, prove challenging for us to obey however, they are written in order that we, as Christians, may live an abundant life, free from the bondage of sin, and filled with spiritual victory .
Why Is The Bible Not In Chronological Order
The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by approximately 40 authors over about 1,500 years. Each author, inspired by God, was writing for a specific purpose.
SamuelKings and ChroniclesEzraNehemiah are good examples. The first tells a covenant history, how the kings who led Israel kept violating the covenant God made with his people. This helped the Jews in exile in Babylon understand why they were in exile. The second tells a royal history, how certain kings took care of the temple and the worship of God before the people were sent into exile. This account barely mentions the evil kings, but it still faithfully and completely tells the story of Israel for its purpose: it encouraged the exiles that they would return to their land and a king would rule them again. So taking whole accounts such as Kings and Chronicles and merging them into chronological order would destroy the specific narrative they are trying to tell.
When the printing press was invented, the number of Bibles available greatly increased. For a while, the biblical books were printed in several different orders. Gradually, the order we know today became more and more common until virtually all editions used that specific order.

What Are The First Five In The Bible
Pentateuch means five rolls, from Greek pénte, five, and teuchos, rolls. It is formed by the first five books of the Old Testament:
- Genesis: the origins.
- Exodus: the departure from Egypt.
- Leviticus: the Levites, priests of the tribe of Levi.
- Numbers:the censuses of the people of Israel.
- Deuteronomy: the second law.
The Pentateuch is the key to understanding the whole Bible, because it presents the beginnings of the revelation of God to the chosen people, and in it we find the first experiences and reflections on Gods plan of love with humanity.

These books start with Genesis and continue with Abraham’s story and the journey of the Hebrews out of Egypt.
There are 27 books in the New Testament, starting with the Gospels. , followed by the Acts of the Apostles, then letters or epistles. The final section is the Book of Revelation.
You can develop a reading plan, which introduces you to the key characters in the Bible, starting with Creation and Genesis. You can use this reading plan to customize your reading of the Bible so that on day one, you read John 1 and move through Genesis on subsequent days.
If you want to develop a reading plan based on the chronological order of the New Testament, start with the books of Galatians and James on the first day. The birth of Jesus appears in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. From here, you’ll work through to the Book of Revelation by day 27.

Its important to remember that the Bible is a collection of writings. No one sat down and said, Lets write the Bible from start to finish. The scrolls that make up the books of the Bible were written by more than 30 authors and accumulated over thousands of years.
These books were laid out by literary genre:

At the beginning, the Bible is in chronological order. If you read the books of Moses in the order that they appear, youre reading biblical history in its proper sequence. And of course, the Old Testament is chronologically before the New Testament. But eventually youll come to places where timelines weave together or overlap. And there is benefit to this arrangement, as for example stopping to read a prophet can give you insight into a historical narrative, and reading one of Pauls epistles can clarify events in the story of Acts.

The books of the Bible are not listed in chronological order, as they are divided by different forms of literature. What matters most is that we, as Christians, familiarize ourselves with the entire Word of God, regardless of the order in which we read the books.

Christians have a special relationship with the Bible. Its not a just book we read once and set aside. Its one that we hopefully come back to regularly for knowledge, inspiration, and guidance.
The challenge we face is in maintaining constant exposure to Scripture without developing a been-there-read-that mentality. Finding new ways to approach the Bible prevents us from the kind of familiarity that makes reading it a chore.
Reading the Bible chronologically can be a refreshing way to see it through new eyes. We might think that because the Bible starts with creation and ends with Revelation its already laid out sequentially, but its not. Reading it in the order that events occurred can equip us to understand its narrative more clearly, and see it from a fresh perspective.

How Is The Bible In Chronological Order
This timeline puts all of the chapters in the Bible in chronological order. The Bible only loosely arranges its books in chronological order. It comes mostly arranged thematically. For example, the Old Testament lists the 5 books of Moses first, then the history of the Israelites, then the teachings of Israelite prophets. This is one of the few timelines that isnt based on a sci-fi/fantasy franchise. Instead, this is made up entirely of ancient text. Therefore, you will see a few difference.
