Example #: The Rich Young Ruler

16 And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 Then he said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder You shall not commit adultery You shall not steal You shall not bear false witness 19 Honor your father and mother and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept what am I still lacking?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven and come, follow Me.” 22 But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving for he was one who owned much property.- Matthew 19:16-22

Note the change facing this wealthy man. He had to change his value system. He valued the Law and one’s ability to obey it. He valued money and the security and prestige that it gave him. Jesus meets this man and challenges him to change his core values.

Pauls Transition From Persecutor To Preacher

The conversion of Saul who later on became Paul in Acts 9:1-30 is one of the most profound Bible stories of change and transition. While it took David years from his anointing to become a king to actually taking the role, Paul changed almost immediately when he encountered Jesus. Sometimes change is sudden and sometimes it takes years and we have to learn to wait on the Lord.

Paul changed from a persecutor of Jesus disciples to becoming an Apostle, a preacher and prisoner of the Gospel and the writer of most of the New Testament. This is what happens when we embrace change!

What the Bible Says about Healthy Living: Three Biblical Principles ...

Is it possible that God can change in His promises or in His character? Can the laws that God has set down be changed? Can we be assured that God will never change?

There Is No Change In God

When one changes they usually change for better or worse. Since God is absolute perfection no change for the better is possible since you cannot improve upon perfection. The same holds true for changing for the worst. Change is not possible with God. He does not develop or grow. He always remains the same. Consequently there is no inconsistency in Him.

The Scripture makes it clear that God does not change in His character, purpose, His fairness toward humankind, or in His promises. The technical term for this is immutability. The Bible says.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom .

God’s Character Is Unchanged

The Bible insists that the basic character of God is not subject to change. The psalmist said of God:

You are the same, and your years will have no end .

This promise is with respect to the guarantee of Israel’s preservation.

In the Book of Malachi God declares:

For I am the Lord, I do not change .

In the context of Malachi, God is guaranteeing the preservation of the nation Israel.

The New Testament also says God does not change:

God’s Nature Is Unchanged

The Apostle Paul said of God:

God’s Purpose Does Not Change

Paul wrote.

The Challenge Of Change

Video Audio Slides Notes

Change is very difficult. Whether it’s changing a habit or attitude or job or city – change is always a challenge, and change is even more difficult when it’s imposed on us suddenly or without our approval.

For example, change in health, or change in a relationship because of death or divorce. There is always an element of pain in change – even when the change is for good. Like when a new and better job in a new city means leaving friends and familiar places behind, and this is painful. It’s for this reason people naturally avoid or put off change because they want to avoid the pain that usually accompanies change.

Of course we know that not all change is good. There are many changes in life that are both painful and sad because the change that takes place is for the worse, not better. And then there are changes that change nothing like people changing careers only to find out that their new jobs don’t make them any happier than their old ones or couples divorce thinking that this change will solve their problems and they find out that the divorce only brings them new problems to solve.

But my lesson is not about these kinds of changes. My lesson is about the challenges that positive changes create and how we can meet and overcome them.

God Can Change Your Past And Your Future

  • Staff

Some may say, now wait a minute, God may be able to change the future, but no one can change the past, because what is done is done, the dye is cast and it cannot be changed.

This is probably the way most people would respond to this statement, but when one is talking about God, our great and mighty God, we must realize that the Bible says in Luke 1:37, “For nothing is impossible for God.”

He can heal our bodies, our minds and even change the events of our life, for nothing is impossible for Him. There are so many places in the Bible where God actually changed the past. Consider all those whom He raised from the dead, the most famous and well-known was Jesus Christ Himself, in the glorious resurrection.

Isaiah spoke of Jesus in Isaiah 52:13, “He will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.” Also in Acts 2:32, Peter preached, “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we all are witnesses of the fact.”

Jesus raised His friend, Lazarus, from the dead in John 11:38. In verse 40, He said to Martha, the sister of Lazarus, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” Jesus called Lazarus, and he came out of the tomb, “The dead man came out .”

Would you not say that his past had been changed, since he was dead but then raised to life?

When I say God can change your past and your future, I sincerely believe He can, if you put your faith and trust in Him. Remember Jesus said: “If you believe.”

Change Is From The Heart

Imagine a life where the moment we think of change, our lives would change. At first, we might think this is a good thing, but consider how much our minds change. At one point your mind might be settled, the next moment it is in total chaos. The truth is, our minds can go all over the place, and we wouldnt want our lives to be like this.

Would you want a life that changes as much as your thoughts?

The important thing to understand here is that, mere thoughts cannot change us. When a thought goes through our minds, it doesnt mean we are what our thoughts imply.

One of my favourite recreational activities is going by the river side to meditate. As I do this, I often imagine all the beautiful things I can do with my life, and all the things I want to achieve. When I leave the riverside however, I do not necessarily leave a changed person. This is because mere thoughts cannot change us.

As we look at the importance of change, lets consider that in order for us to change, we must change in our hearts. As we change in our hearts, the life we live will follow. A thought will be merely a thought if it doesnt get inside our hearts. When our thoughts gets into our hearts, thats when they gain the power to change us.

In proverbs 27:3 the Bible explains this very well

For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 27:3

Climate Change: What Does the Bible Say?

Here are 5 stories from the Bible to read when youre facing change.

Anxious about Nothing

Its so easy to be anxious about everything in lifeespecially those things we have no control over, but were admonished to not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus . Once youve made it known to God, you work is finished.

Give it to God

Jesus tells everyone who has a burden or are heavy laden to come to Him and theyll get rest , but that begins by Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you . The word casting means to throw at a distance, so we through all our anxieties about our uncertain future way over to Him, and we do this because he cares for you more than anyone else does. Hes got big hands for a big load, so cast every anxiety over to Him.

A Future and Hope

Even though Jeremiah was writing to the tribe of Judah who were being held in captivity, he wanted them to have hope for a future. He wanted them to know that God is not finished with them yet, and wrote, I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope . If there was a future, thats the first bit of good news they needed to hear. That means God will bring them back to the land someday, and He did.

Jesus Transition From Heaven To Earth

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14

Jesus is the Word of God who was there since the creation of the world. The biggest transition in the Bible is Jesus taking on the form of flesh and coming to stay on earth for 33 years. This makes me see how amazing change can be.

If Jesus hadnt come we wouldnt have salvation. So while we may feel uncomfortable about seasons of change, looking at the life of Jesus will make us want to embrace change.

We can look at this Bible verse on change in two ways: physically or about life in general. As we grow older, our bodies will start to wither. This physical change is something many people fear and resent on a daily basis.

The Lord reminds us in 2 Corinthians that this life is only temporary. Anything we are experiencing, whether old age or general life changes, we should always remember that they are only temporary. Through our faith in God, we will experience an eternal joy far greater than any momentary suffering.

Bible Verses About Change And Growth

1-What does the Bible say about climate change?

which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth

For there is hope for a tree,When it is cut down, that it will sprout again,And its shoots will not fail.

When the grass disappears, the new growth is seen,And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in,

They will perish, but You remain And they all will become old like a garment,

The grass withers, the flower fades,But the word of our God stands forever.

And with the choice yield of the sun,And with the choice produce of the months.

A generation goes and a generation comes,But the earth remains forever.

Drip down, O heavens, from above,And let the clouds pour down righteousness Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit,And righteousness spring up with it.I, the Lord, have created it.

That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born,That they may arise and tell them to their children,

You visit the earth and cause it to overflow You greatly enrich it The stream of God is full of water You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth.
