Critics have also made note of serious injury that has resulted from falsely labelled “healings”, where patients erroneously consider themselves cured and cease or withdraw from treatment. For example, at least six people have died after faith healing by their church and being told they had been healed of HIV and could stop taking their medications. It is the stated position of the AMA that “prayer as therapy should not delay access to traditional medical care”. Choosing faith healing while rejecting modern medicine can and does cause people to die needlessly.

That Was Then This Is Now
Today, some parts of the Church teach that the gifts of the Spirit, including healing, were withdrawn after the time of the Apostolic Church, using 1 Cor. 13:8-10 below as their justification. In my opinion this an incorrect position, based on a misinterpretation of the passage. Lets read it.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease where there are tongues, they will be stilled where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears .
Those who deny the gifts are still being given say that these verses refer to the completion of the New Testament canon. They say the gifts were for the time when the Church didnt have the completed word of God and the apostles had to rely on their Spiritual gifts to build the Church.
But Paul went on to say that now we see only a poor reflection, then we shall see face to face. Now we know in part, then we shall know fully even as we are fully known . The first time this statement will be true is just after the rapture when well be standing before the Lord in our perfected bodies. Thats the time when John said well be like the Lord for we shall see Him as He is . Thats when perfection will come and, since well no longer need them, thats when the gifts will cease. Until then, they are ours to use.

While there are attempts of scientific narratives in explaining how faith healing works, the Bible has a more simplified answer to this. First, the Bible does touch the subject of faith healing. This is seen mostly in the time of Jesus and yes, God can heal anyone anytime. For example, in Matthew 9:18-26, a woman who was bleeding for twelve years had faith that if she could only touch Jesus cloak, her healing would be guaranteed. So, when she did touch His cloak, Jesus looked at her and said that she has been healed by her faith. At that very moment, the woman was healed. The lesson taught here is that when we simply reach to God in faith, he will respond.
As Christians, a sick person should also offer their prayers in faith so they can be healed . In the New Testament alone, faith healing has been done numerous times by Jesus. He lived and healed, addressing different severe ailments from different people. But, if we take a good look at all these people Jesus healed, their process all began with faith and none of them failed in getting healed by Jesus. Although the act of healing is usually associated with the time of Jesus in the New Testament, faith healing was already around before He was born! Even during the era of Ancient Egypt, evidence of its popularity was found in the Ebers Papyrus around 1552 BC. But, faith healing wasnt found just in Egypt. Indeed, every time we find someone exercising the gift of healing in the New Testament it is always in the context of proclaiming and furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ. Indeed, there is never healing for healing sake. Healing was merely a means to an end. The message was Jesus Christ and eternal life not temporary physical health.
The Spiritual Condition of the Person Is the Most Important
What is stressed in the New Testament is not ones physical condition but rather ones spiritual condition. The physical condition is only temporary while the spiritual condition has eternal consequences. Any physical healing is, at best, temporary. It is the nature of the human body to grow old, deteriorate, and eventually die. Sin is the real problem, sickness is merely a symptom.

In his show, he was able to experience what it was like to spearhead a similar flow. In a Youtube video from Big Think, he explains that when someone is being healed, their adrenaline rushes and increases greatly.
