You may dream of eating or drinking, but when you awake you are still empty. It may have appeared real, but it was not.

If we gather information about snakes or serpents and look at the law of first mention we see the story of the serpent in the Garden of Eden .
The Law of First Mention:Some Bible students use the law of first mention as a guideline of study in which they find the first time a word, idea, or doctrine is introduced in Scripture to better understand the other references. The idea is that the first time it is mentioned will be the simplest, most understandable reference from which the others build.
We see that Satan uses the snake to lie tempt, and bring forth the fall of man.

In essence, the dream had a purpose to foretell the future.
- Daniel : Like Joseph, he often interprets dreams rather than has them, but in Daniel 7 he witnesses a terrifying dream of four beasts. Theologians have attributed each beast to a certain kingdom . The dreams served to show events and kingdoms to come.
- Joseph :Joseph, Jesus father, sees an angel in a dream who warns him to flee to Egypt before Herod can take the life of his son . This dream served as a warning.
- Pontius Pilates wife :When Jesus stands at trial with Pontius Pilate, his wife warns Pilate against having anything to do with him, because she knows of his innocence . The dream informed her about the true nature of Jesus.
