The only issue with Matthew 25 is that there must be millions of people in the world who have never even met a JW so have not had the opportunity to help or deny them help!

According to wt theology, thats their death sentence. JWs on the other hand will usually work this out Im their minds and say that God reads hearts and theyll be saved as well, or resurrected again, but this isnt in line with what the GB teaches.

Im doing a quick research into the online library with the help of JWFacts for these reference points.

This page has a ton of publication links to the direct quotes where they claim that salvation is only possible through the WT organization.

Great thread.

To add some additional comments I often wonder about the fact that to become part of this organisation, a lot needs to be achieved:

But what Christian examples do we have in the bible that show how it’s really done?

The criminal murdered alongside Jesus simply said to him “remember me” and that was it, he was accepted into paradise.

And Paul – went to a town, gave a sermon and 5000 got baptised.

How Do They Practise Their Faith

Jehovahs Witnesses are known for their missionary activities witnessing for Jehovah usually through the distribution of literature, either going door to door in their neighbourhood or, in more recent years, operating literature stands in public places such as railway stations and shopping centres. Their main magazines are The Watchtower and Awake!

If a member of the public expresses interest, Jehovahs Witnesses will attempt to establish regular home visits for free Bible study courses. Baptised JWs engage in this practice and they are known as publishers.

Jehovahs Witnesses practise baptism by immersion of adults and older children .

Congregational life is very important to Jehovahs Witnesses. Members meet together in Kingdom Halls for a weekend meeting and a meeting on one weekday evening. The weekend meeting includes a public service followed by the study of a passage outlined in the study edition of The Watchtower magazine. All congregations study the same passage on the same day.

Jehovahs Witnesses do not celebrate religious festivals usually marked by other Christian traditions, such as Christmas or Easter, because of their Pagan undertones. Instead, they have only one annual festival the Memorial of Christs Death or the Lords Evening Meal, which is the commemoration of Jesuss death and ransom sacrifice on behalf of humankind.

Some Final Thoughts On The Deity Of Christ

Multiple biblical figures all viewed Jesus as God; Isaiah, John, Thomas and Paul. We have seen that the doctrine of Christs deity carried from the biblical writers to their successors, the Apostolic Fathers such as Polycarp who knew the apostles and Ignatius who probably did. The doctrine did not stop there, but continued through the Church Fathers who succeeded them such as Justin, Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Origen, and Hippolytus.

Although Jesus is never recorded as coming right out and saying, I am God, his actions and claims spoke very loud. He accepted worship . Yet he knew worship was for God alone . His disciples also recognized worship was for God alone . Yet they worshipped him . In addition, he claimed to have authority over the Sabbath day that God had instituted , something it would seem was reserved for God alone. Finally, he taught with an authority that none of the prophets claimed. The prophets would say, Thus says the Lord …. Jesus, on the other hand, said, Truly, truly, I say to you. It will not do to say that Jesus had the authority to forgive sins, since he granted this right to his disciples .

The question we need to ask then is Did Jesus do anything that would indicate that he thought of himself as God? When we consider that he accepted worship that he knew was only for God, claimed to have authority over Gods Law, and spoke using his own authority, it seems clear that Jesus did think of himself as God.;

What Do Jehovahs Witnesses Believe

As Jehovahs Witnesses, we strive to adhere to the form of Christianity that Jesus taught and that his apostles practiced. This article summarizes our basic beliefs.

  • God. We worship the one true and Almighty God, the Creator, whose name is Jehovah. He is the God of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.Exodus 3:6; 32:11; John 20:17.

  • Bible. We recognize the Bible as Gods inspired message to humans. We base our beliefs on all 66 of its books, which include both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Professor Jason D. BeDuhn aptly described it when he wrote that Jehovahs Witnesses built their system of belief and practice from the raw material of the Bible without predetermining what was to be found there.;*

While we accept the entire Bible, we are not fundamentalists. We recognize that parts of the Bible are written in figurative or symbolic language and are not to be understood literally.Revelation 1:1.

  • Jesus. We follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and honor him as our Savior and as the Son of God. Thus, we are Christians. However, we have learned from the Bible that Jesus is not Almighty God and that there is no Scriptural basis for the Trinity doctrine.John 14:28.

  • Heaven. Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and the faithful angels reside in the spirit realm.;* A relatively small number of people144,000will be resurrected to life in heaven to rule with Jesus in the Kingdom.Daniel 7:27; 2;Timothy 2:12; Revelation 5:9, 10; 14:1,;3.

  • Where Did Jehovah’s Witnesses Get Their Name

    Yes. 1973

Jehovah’s Witnesses focus on God the Father, so their name is taken from the Tetragrammaton, written as YHWH or JHVH and articulated either as Yahweh or Jehovah. The group was originally called the Watch Tower Society because founder Charles Taze Russell published a magazine called Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.

Main Differences Between Christian Bible And Jehovah Witness Bible

  • The first and foremost difference between the Christian Bible and Jehovahs Witness Bible lies in the ideologies of their Witnesses and Believers. The former regards Jesus as God. While the latter considers Jesus the son or the messenger of God.
  • Christian Bible is written considering old and new Testaments, whereas the Jehovah Witness Bible is based on New World Technologies .
  • The Christian Bible believers think Jesus is the only messenger of God, but the witnesses of the latter one worship Jehovah as their God.
  • As per the Witnesses, Jesus is believed to be the son of their God, Jehovah. In the Christian Bible case, they believe in the supreme power of Jesus as their God.
  • Jehovahs Witnesses consider Jesus as a savior but not a God. Whereas the believers of the Christian Bible think the opposite in terms of their God.
  • Excerpts From An Email Exchange I Had With A Jehovah’s Witnessover A Period Of Severalmonths

Watchtower Society interchange: Recently a member of the Jehovah’sWitnesses initiated an exchange of email messages about beliefs and doctrines. Here arequestions he asked and responses I gave. These pages can be considered a blog of ourconversations.

One of the sad things about our email conversation is that my Jehovah’sWitness friend rarely asked me a follow-up question. He would ask me a question and I wouldanswer. Without responding to what I wrote either to ask for clarification or rebut what I wrote,he would then ask a question on a different topic. Thus, we had very few real “conversations” inwhich we discussed anything in-depth.

“As usual, Paul entered there and . . . discussed the Scriptures with them.” –Acts 17:2

    1. When were the Jehovah’s Witnesses founded?

Jehovah’s Witnesses got their start in 1870 when a man named Charles Taze Russell started leading Bible studies in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Jehovah’s Witnesses movement came out of the Bible Student movement, which was also founded by Taze. When Taze began disputing some of the traditional views within Christianity, the Jehovah’s Witnesses were born.

    3. Do Jehovah’s Witnesses use the same Bible as Christians?

Jehovah’s Witnesses use a Bible translation called the New World Translation. Before this translation was released specifically by and for Jehovah’s Witnesses, most relied on the King James Version. According to TowerWatch.com:

“The New World Translation of the Bible is Jehovah’s Witnesses own translation, no other religious group uses this Bible and Jehovah’s Witnesses make very little use of other Bibles.

The translators of The New World Translation were: Nathan Knorr, Albert Schroeder, George Gangas, Fred Franz, M. Henschel.”

    Do Jehovah Witnesses Have Funerals

The Jehovahs Witnesses funeral service is similar to other Christian faiths, but lasts only 15 or 30 minutes. The funeral usually takes place within a week after death. At the service, men wear a suit and tie, and women are expected to dress modestly, but neither needs a head covering.

How Did The Jehovahs Witnesses Begin

Jehovahs Witnesses originated in the United States in the latter half of the 19th century with the teachings of Charles Taze Russell . In the early 1870s, Russell established a Bible study movement which heralded the International Bible Students Association in his home town of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This was a Bible study group in the Adventist tradition, although Russell claimed never to have been an Adventist and was not a part of Ellen G. Whites Seventh-day Adventist tradition.

In 1879, Russell published the magazine Zions Watch Tower and Herald of Christs Presence, which would become the Jehovahs Witnesses main publication, The Watchtower. In the early 1880s, Russell established the Zions Watch Tower Tract Society.

In 1909, the headquarters moved from Pittsburgh to Brooklyn, New York, where it remained until it moved to Warwick, New York, in 2017.

Russell was succeeded by a lawyer, Joseph Franklin Rutherford , who became the second president of the Watch Tower Society and who coined the name Jehovahs Witnesses in 1931. Rutherford introduced many of the distinctive features of JWs including the acceleration of house-to-house evangelism, not participating in politics and military service, and not celebrating Christmas.

    History Of The Watch Tower

    Defend Jehovah

One of the most aggressive and fastest growing cults is the Jehovahs Witnesses. Today they have a worldwide organization that numbers about 3.5 million members operating in 205 countries. Several factors account for this rapid growth. The first is their zealous door-to-door evangelism. Second, we Christians have failed to make a solid defense of our faith against their attacks when they have come to our door. The result is the Witnesses continue unchallenged in the propagation of their organization and deceive many. Third, the rise of the cults are a fulfillment of the prophetic warnings given by Jesus and the Apostles.

In this essay I want to look at the beliefs of the Witnesses and then give the reader practical witnessing strategies. The history of the Jehovahs Witnesses begins with the founder of the organization Charles Taze Russell. He was a member of the Congregational Church who came to reject the doctrine of hell and eternal punishment. In 1870, with no formal education, he began a Bible society which eventually named him pastor. In 1884, he founded Zions Watchtower and Tract Society in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is now the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. Since then they have mushroomed into an organization which produces more literature in one year than the Christian and Catholic churches combined. And, of all the cults, their missionary forces are the most well trained in evangelism.

What Countries Have Banned Jehovahs Witnesses

Activities of Jehovahs Witnesses have previously been banned in the Soviet Union and in Spain, partly due to their refusal to perform military service. Their religious activities are currently banned or restricted in some countries, for example in Singapore, China, Vietnam, Russia and many Muslim-majority countries.

    What Is Christian Bible

Christian Bible explains the orthodox scriptures and ideas of the Roman Catholic version. It is a combination of old and new testaments from the 2nd to the 17th generation. Since it is a collection of books, it discusses everything, ranging from the origin of Earth to the meaning of God. The initials of the Christian Bible started as melodies and were verbally conveyed to further generations.

The Christian Bible drives back to the time of Jews scriptures during 200 BCE. After few generations, the stories and songs were framed down on papyrus manuscripts. Considered to be a source of spiritual motivation by the devotees, it also comprises hymns, prayers, proverbs, parables, didactic letters, poetry, etc. It is often said that the Christian Bible has done a lot to frame and shape the literature and history from the beginning.

This set of books from the Christian Bible is regarded as divinely inspirited scriptures by a Christian creed. There are different versions of the Christian Bible in New Testaments viz. Douay -Rheims Bible, the Revised Version, the American Standard Version, New King James Version, and many others.

Jehovah‘s Witnesses hold the controversial view of rejecting blood transfusions, even in life or death situations. Recently, Russia banned Jehovah’s Witnesses and this issue was one of the reasons stated for their doing so. “Some treatments conflict with Bible principles, though, and we reject these. For example, we dont accept blood transfusions because the Bible forbids taking in blood to sustain the body. Likewise, the Bible prohibits health treatments or procedures that include occult practices.Galatians 5:19-21,” explains JW.org.

Week 3: Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Use of Bible Passages

The answer to this is no. It is one of the more major ways in which Jehovah‘s Witnesses differ from various Christian denominations. See the next couple points for more details on this. Jehovah’s Witnesses refer to the fact that the Bible never explicitly mentions the term “trinity.” They claim this “doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies.”

    Death Heaven And Hell

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that when a person dies, their existence completely stops.

This is because the Bible makes it clear that human beings do not have an immortal soul that survives when the body dies.

The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all … for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in , the place to which you are going.

    Ecclesiastes 9: 5, 10

Witnesses believe that Hell does not exist. There is no place where sinners are tormented after death – since their existence is over, nothing can be done to them or for them. Witnesses also argue that it would be completely against God’s nature to torture humans for eternity.

However, death is not the end of everything: each person can be remembered by God and eventually be resurrected.

Witnesses say that this is clearly stated by Jesus:

The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

Genesis 1:13In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and desolate, and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep, and God’s active force was moving about over the surface of the waters. And God said: “Let there be light.” Then there was light.

The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures is a translation of the Bible published by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. The New Testament portion was released in 1950, as The New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures, with the complete Bible released in 1961; it is used and distributed by Jehovah’s Witnesses. Though it is not the first Bible to be published by the group, it is their first original translation of ancient Classical Hebrew, Koine Greek, and Old Aramaic biblical texts. As of March 2, 2020, the Watch Tower Society has published more than 220 million copies of the New World Translation in whole or in part in 200 languages. Though commentators have said a scholarly effort went into the translation, critics have described it as biased.
