Peace Of Mind Through God

We have no idea what the future holds. If it brings hard times, God can be there for us. If it brings easy times, we will still need God to fill that inner void we have and to give our lives meaning.

When all is said and done, what matters most? What really matters is that we are not separated from God. Do we know God? Does he know us? Have we shut him out of our lives? Or have we let him in? Through knowing him, he produces in us a changing perspective and gives us hope. Through being in a relationship with him, we can have peace in the midst of all circumstances.

Why must God be central to our lives? Because there is no real peace or hope apart from knowing him. He is God and we are not. He does not depend on us, but we must depend upon him. He created us to need his presence in our lives. We can try to make life work without him, but it will be futile.

God wants us to seek him. He wants us to know him and to have him involved in our lives. But there is a problem: we’ve all shut him out. The Bible describes it this way: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way.”14 We’ve all tried to make our lives work without God. That’s what the Bible calls “sin.”

Finding Peace When Feeling Anxious

The apostle Paul certainly had plenty of reasons to feel anxious. Sitting in a Roman prison, he didnt know if he would be released or put to death. Writing to the believers in Philippi, however, he urged them, Do not be anxious about anything .

Anxiety and its companion, worry, do their best to immobilize believers. People are anxious about the future they are anxious about events that havent happened but could happen. Anxiety causes physical problems. Anxiety makes people fearful and distressed.

So, what can believers do about their anxiety? Paul gave the answer: In every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. When we give our anxiety to God, he replaces it with his peace which transcends all understanding . Gods peace is beyond comprehension because it makes no sense the circumstances seem to require anxiety, but instead we feel Gods peace. When we feel anxiety rising, we should turn to God in prayer. He will give us the peace he promised.

Top 9 Bible Verses

The true peace of God is one that surpasses anything that we could ever dream of. As we search for peace in other places in the world, it is possible to find bits of peace here and there. We may find peace in other things, but the peace we find will be fleeting. It wont be a godly kind of peace or one that truly satisfies or lasts. With God, through Christ Jesus, we can find a peace that surpasses all of our comprehension. Gods peace of mind is so great that we cannot even understand it.

The Lord is called the Lord of peace here because when He is with us, we have peace. His very presence brings peace and comfort all the days of our lives. If you want that peace, James 4:8 tells us that we must simply draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. If His presence brings peace, we must simply place ourselves in it and we will live lives of peace with Him.

Life Group Personal View: What Does The Bible Say About Peace

Recently during my Lifegroup meeting, the question was asked, when you are meditating about God what do you see, hear, and feel?

I must say one of the things for me would have to be envisioning Jesus welcoming me at Heavens gate wrapping his arms around me saying

Well Done my Good and Faithful Servant

CAN YOU SENSE GODS PEACE IN THIS TOO?

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

I can feel even now such a sweet peace about it! I can not describe the feeling I have and do it justice. This morning as I was getting ready for work a song came on Spotify App that I havent heard before.

I started swaying back and forth in a dance with my Savior and My Goodness beloved I started envisioning that and I felt the Holy Spirits presence so strong within me and I long for that day to be a reality.

Another mentioned while praying to God its as if hes sheltering them from all sides.

What Does The Scripture Say About Peace

Eirene is the primary Greek word used in the New Testament for Peace and it means tranquility. The advent of Jesus Christ happens to be the key focus of peace in the New Testament, as announced by the angels in Luke 2:14 Peace on earth . . . God opened the eyes of Prophet Isaiah who wrote part of the Scriptures predicting that the Messiah would be the Prince of Peace . Apostle Paul refers to Him as the Lord of Peace in 2 Thessalonians 3:16. Today, we can enjoy peace with God thanks to Christs work of justification . In Christ, peace keeps our hearts and minds secured . God Almighty in His sovereign authority and reign over Heaven and Earth commanded us to seek and maintain peace .

Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans calls on the Christians to make every effort to do what leads to peace . Although there are some people who do not desire peace, we are still called by the Scriptures to do everything in our power to be at peace with them . It is an obligation for all followers of Christ or believers to let the peace of God rule in their hearts . This spiritual truth is pointing to the fact that we have the choice either to have faith or trust Gods promises or to merely rely on ourselves as we reject His peace and dwell in lives of worries, doubts, and fear of the unknown.

Peace Of Mind Through Trust In God

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Many times the reason we are not walking in peace is that we have our focus on the problem and not on the one who has the solution.

When you keep your focus on Jesus and His ability in any situation, you have peace. When you look at the problem, you have fear.

Learning how to trust in God is not always easy.

However, I have learned after 33 years that He is more secure than the stock market, my job, or the promises that others have made me. He will never leave me, nor forsake me. He always sees me through and He will do the same for you.

We Are Called To Seek Peace

Not only is peace a good thing but we are actually told to pursue peace.

Psalm 34:14

Depart from evil and do good l Seek peace and pursue it.

And again we are told in the Book of Hebrews the same thing as well.

Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

Every Christian is called to pursue peace with other people. We are to do our best to get along with one another.

Strife, envy and quarreling are things that let the enemy enter our midst.

In fact, the Bible says that the pursuit of peace is so important that we need to be willing to suffer for it.

1 Peter 3:11 Let him turn away from evil and do good Let him seek peace and pursue it.

1 Peter 3:13

And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousnessâ sake, you are blessed.

Peace In The New Testament

The writers of the Old Testament were not the only ones who lived in turbulent times. Early Christian gospel authors lived under the fear of death almost daily. The Roman soldiers did not accept Christianity, nor did the Israelite leaders. Finding peace when only a handful of people supported what you did would have been tough.

Peter wrote, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” . Remember, this was the man who denied Jesus after he was arrested. Peter was still entrusted with the care of the church.

Paul, who was persecuted by both the Romans and the Jews, wrote, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” . In another letter, he told the Thessalonians, “May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you” .

A third apostle wrote, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” . Historians believe John was plunged into boiling oil in Rome and protected from its effects. John might be the only one of the original disciples who died of natural causes, but he suffered for his beliefs.

What Other Scriptures Echo This Theme Of God

Jesus, Himself, offers similar words to His disciples in the Gospel of John, when He says, Peace I leave with you My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid .

This seems to be the same sort of peace Paul is referring to in Philippians a peace we humans cannot possibly understand, as it is unlike the world, but one that has the ability both to drive out fear and free us from our worries.

That same notion is reflected in Romans 8:28, where Paul reminds us, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

God will work it all out, Paul is saying He will handle our problems and our terrors if we only believe and turn them over to Him.

In return, we receive a supernatural peace, unexplainable, and perhaps not even comprehensible, with the potential to calm us and enable us to experience joy.

In case we missed the point, Paul reflects more on this in his second letter to the early church in Corinth. He writes,

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God .
