What Does The Bible Say About Being Weary

We will become weary and tired. Accordingly, there are many Bible verses for the weary. I love that these two weary bible verses speak to that reality.

From Proverbs, we learn that we need to trust in Gods power and goodness. We may not know how Gods plans are going to play out, but we do know that it will all work for Gods glory and for our good. Take heart that if we wait for the Lord, He shall renew our strength.

  • The man declares, I am weary, O God I am weary, O God, and worn out. Surely I am too stupid to be a man. I have not the understanding of a man. I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One. Proverbs 30:1-3
  • Even youths shall faith and be weary, and young me shall fall exhausted but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
  • Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you he will never leave you nor forsake you.
  • Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
  • Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

God Is Able To Restore Your Weary Soul

Its been a tough week. Im tired and struggling with a cold. But beyond that, my soul is weary.

While God has called me to wear many hats, Im not the multi-tasker I used to think I was. Navigating this multi-faceted, multi-called life Hes given me, is thrilling at times exhausting at others.

Ive really tried to accept this winter ailment as a gift, and taken the last few days to rest and relax. But this morning, important obligations scream for my attention.

Gratefully, I feel better so Im trying to catch up, but to be honestIm struggling with overwhelm.

Perhaps you are as well.

My sweet assistant, Rachel Krahn, put together this beautiful set of scriptures and reflections that enouraged me today, and I believe theyll encourage you as well. For the best part of being a Christian is the fact we dont do this life alone.

Galatians : 9 Let Us Not Become Weary In Doing Good For At The Proper Time We Will Reap A Harvest If We Do Not Give Up

Sometimes I counsel so many people and listen to so many peoples burdens that I feel like I have been a drink offering thats been poured out onto the ground. I feel emptied of all my strength. Often I have no one to fill me up. Thats why this verse is so important to me. I do become weary in doing good for others. In pouring myself out to help others, I sometimes simply collapse on the floor filling completely emptied like a glass that has all of its contents spilled out so I need to remember that the harvest of the labor of love is not reaped in this life but in the life to come.

Encouraging Scripture Verses For When You Are Exhausted

Bible Verses To Strengthen The Weary And Tired – Scriptures For the Weak

When I was a university student, I remember those late nights cramming for exams. subsisting on coffee to keep me awake and just running on caffeine and adrenalin to get me through the next day. I remember when I was a new mom and as much as I loved those late night feedings, holding my tiny newborn and rocking her gently, our nightly routine was leaving me more and more sleep deprived and exhausted. I thought it would improve a bit when the children got older, but then it was the rush of life and keeping up with schedules, not to mention worries of the day weighing me down more often than not. Exhaustion, weariness, sleeplessness, constant tirednessweve all experienced it. Even in the empty-nesting years, I find myself tired at times, especially if Ive overtaxed my muscles doing tasks that are better left for a woman half my age. Isnt it encouraging to know that when I have nothing left to give physically and mentally, that God never tires and He gives me strength when I need it? Let these verses encourage you when you are exhausted.

Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Psalm 62:1 Truly my soul finds rest in God my salvation comes from him.

Psalm 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Bible Verses When You Feel Stressed

  • Emily MasseyContributor

A few weeks ago, Marcus from Psysci.co, reached out to me and asked if he would be able to share some encouragement on emilyrosemassey.com for my readers, especially regarding his expertise in psychology. He decided to write a blog about 5 Bible verses when you are feeling stressed out. Please welcome Marcus!

Whether you consider yourself to be religious or not, Bible verses hold basic humanistic truths that apply to various situations. The following Bible verses are especially comforting in times of stress and remind us that being anxious and worrying about things will do nothing to put you in a better state mentally, physically or spiritually.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This verse is a constant reminder that the peace of God is freely accessible to everyone and can be so easily obtained through a simple prayer devoting your worries to God. To let your requests be made known to God through thanksgiving is a way to humble yourself and realize that God is bigger than any stressful situation that you might be going through. Keeping a gratitude journal is also a great exercise to help you reflect on the things in your life for which you are thankful.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lords holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledgethat you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Overcome Weariness By Focusing On Jesus

We are healed when we look upon Jesus. Jesus walked this earth and dealt first-hand with sin and brokenness.

When His death approached and He was praying for the cup of suffering to be removed from Him, His closest friends could not stay awake and pray with Him. One of His friends even betrayed Him.

Our Lord knows loneliness and betrayal. He too feels the ache for how this world is from what God desires it to be.

It can be easy to lose hope when we are tired and weary. When we are weary in doing well, we must remember that in the end, God will win. In the end, Jesus will return.

Our present sufferings do not compare to the eternal rewards. Worship gives us the opportunity to focus on our Savior and to rest in His power and promises.

  • Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. Hebrews 12:3
  • O God, you are my God earnestly I seek you my soul thirsts for you my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So, I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. Psalm 63:1-3
