Who Were The 40 Men Who Wrote The Bible

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Bible is made up of “66 smaller books”. God used about “40 faithful men” to write them. According to them, the first five books were written by Moses about 3,500 years ago the last book was written by the apostle John over 1,900 years ago. God communicated with the Bible writers by means of the holy spirit. They wrote down the thoughts of God, not their own thoughts. So “Jehovah” is the author of the Bible, according to Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Why Are There So Many Different Versions Of The Bible

One of the reasons for so many different versions of the Bible is the number of manuscripts available. There are more than 5,800 New Testament Manuscripts in Greek, 10,000 Old Testament Manuscript in Hebrew, and more than 19,000 copies of Manuscript in Coptic, Latin Aramaic, and Syriac languages.

To translate the Bible, intellectuals divided these text/ manuscripts into two prominent families:

• Alexandrian text-type- better known as Egyptian or neutral

The Alexandrian text-type focuses on the manuscripts date and its place of origin, while the Byzantine text-type focuses on all manuscripts and decides the final reading by what most of the document talks about.

• Methods of Bible Translation

The Bible was initially written in Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. All current available Bibles were translated from these three original languages. The manuscripts were further classified depending on the translation philosophy to use: Literal, dynamic, and free translation.

Literal Translation tries to keep the exact phrases and words of the original text. It is very loyal to the original manuscript, but it can be hard to read and understand. First and Peter wrote the second Peter of the Twelve Disciples. John, Jesus beloved disciple, composed the books of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John and the book of Revelation.

God Or Man Wrote The Bible

Knowing this first, how no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy ever came with the will of men, but holy men of God spoke as the Holy Spirit moved.

The messages of Scripture were given to the prophets by the Holy Spirit. The Bibles authors wrote not due to their own will or fancy but solely as they were moved or controlled by the Holy Spirit. Tradition Holds That Moses Wrote The First Five Books Of The Old Testament

As is sometimes the case, historical scholarship and religious teaching don’t always match up precisely, and this is true in the case of answering the question of who wrote the Bible. Centuries of scholarship have investigated and explored the question. Let’s look at some of the main points.

For some Christians, and similarly for some Conservative Jews, according to Baker, the matter of who wrote the first five books of the Bible Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, also known as the “Pentateuch” is simple and straightforward: Moses. For centuries Christendom as well as some Jews accepted this without question.

However, Elon Gilad, writing in Haaretz, noted that this can’t possibly be true. He says that in the 18th and 19th centuries, German researchers began to take a critical look at the texts, and found that they could not have been written by the same man. There were differences in style and language, for example, and differing accounts of the same event told in different ways.

Very simply put, eventually, the texts got compiled by different editors and redactors over the years, men whose names have largely been lost to history, and we ended up with the combined accounts that were eventually compiled into the Pentateuch.

Moses Wrote The First Five Books Of The Bible

The first five books of the Bible were written by Moses. The last book of the Old Testament is Malachi which was written by an anonymous prophet who lived during the time between the older prophets and Jesus Christ. Some Of The Pauline Writings Were Correctly Attributed

One of the most important figures in the New Testament is the Apostle Paul. The Jewish teacher who converted to Christianity traditionally wrote 13 of the 27 books of the New Testament, all of them “epistles” letters to various churches throughout the Mediterranean region. The narrative of those books provides much of the basis of Christian practice and doctrine two millennia later.

Did Paul actually write those books, as tradition and dogma hold? Actually, he probably did, according to History or at least, he probably wrote seven of them, anyway, the remaining six having been assigned his name by later editors, likely followers of Paul who wanted to lend authenticity to their writings by attaching Paul’s name to them. The “Pauline Epistles” believed to be almost certainly written by him are Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians, 1 Thessalonians, and Philemon, while the rest are believed to have been written by others.

Isaiah Jeremiah And Lamentations

• Jeremiah: The book of Jeremiah is attributed to a prophet named Jeremiah in the Old Testament.
• Lamentations: The book of Lamentations is attributed to an anonymous poet who was influenced by King Josiahs reforms and subsequent death at Megiddo .

We named each columns, 1st Book, 2nd Name of Authors, 3rd Approximate Covered Years the book was written and the last 4th columns is for the Category My friend asked me this for his School of Leaders training in their church and it is useful for us. Numbers Deuteronomy And Joshua

To begin, Joshua wrote the book of Joshua. The New Testament writers Matthew and Paul agree that Joshua was the author of this book. Furthermore, Moses wrote Deuteronomy, which is clearly stated in Deuteronomy 34:10-12. Moses was also contemporary with Joshua making them contemporaries because they lived at approximately the same time and were both alive at the same time according to biblical chronology.
