Greetings
St. Theresa Parish is located in Ashburn, Virginia which is approximately thirty-five miles west of Washington, D.C. We are part of the Arlington Diocese. The parish was started in 1991 by Monsignor James W. McMurtrie. For the first several years Mass was held at the local high school. In 1994, St. Theresa School was open and Mass had been held every day in the schools multi purpose room. Monsignor McMurtrie named the parish for St. Theresa of Lisieux. Theresa was also his mothers name who raised him and his three other siblings alone after their father passed away when they were teenagers.
Father Richard M. Guest became Pastor in 2002-2020. He oversaw the task of building the new church. A ground breaking ceremony was held on September 30, 2007, and building began in April of 2008. The dedication of the new church was held on November 11, 2009. Since then the parish and school office building project that included an adoration chapel has been completed along with a new rectory. We are very grateful for all that was accomplished during Fr. Guests 18 years here.
On July 16, 2020, Father James C. Hudgins became our new pastor. We welcome Fr. Hudgins and pray God blesses him abundantly in his work here at our parish!

St Theresa Of Avila Catholic Church
Dear Parish Family,
I am excited to announce and I don’t know if I will be able to sleep for the next year. St. Theresa of Avila Parish is partnering with the Bethlehem Nativity Group to sponsor a 10 Day Pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
The Holy Land Pilgrimage will leave from the Church parking lot and fly out of New Orleans on . All of the significant places in the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ as well as some important sites from Old Testament events are included.
The full brochure and registration form is available at the Church Office and in the Church after weekend Masses. This is truly an opportunity of a lifetime to walk and pray in the footsteps of Our Lord and to celebrate the Holy Mass each day of the Pilgrimage in the Holy Land. Take a look and I hope you can join us.
God’s Peace,
Fr. Eric Gyan

Are You Able To Host A Ukrainian Family
When hearing reports of the war in Ukraine, and the millions of Ukrainians that have been forced to flee their homeland, many have asked what they can do to help. Over 80,000 Ukrainians have already arrived to Canada through a special visa program created by Immigration Canada. An additional 500,000 have applied to the program and are expected to arrive in the coming months. Many are arriving to Toronto and are without family here in Canada to help them. Among those will be some who are vulnerable to human trafficking, particularly seniors, single women, and women with children. There is an immediate need for families to host for a period of between one and six months some of those who have arrived. If you would like to learn more about hosting a Ukrainian family, please go to Archdiocese of Toronto Ukrainian Crisis and register for a virtual information session.

When unable to attend Mass, you are encouraged to make a spiritual communion:
An Act of Spiritual CommunionMy Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
