About Sun River Health
In the early 1970s, four African American women in Peekskill, New York came together to address the lack of affordable, quality health care in their community. With money from a small federal grant, the first Hudson River Health Care site was opened in 1975.
That first health center has since grown to become an FQHC system with over 40 locations, serving more than 245,000 patients throughout the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island. Our exceptional primary care practitioners, specialists, and support staff have made us a destination for affordable, high-quality care.
In December 2018, Brightpoint Health, an FQHC network offering integrated medical, behavioral, and social support services in New York City, merged with Hudson River Health Care. Together with our subsidiary organizations, we became Sun River Health in December 2020.
Primary Series / Third Dose
Sometimes, people who are immunocompromised do not build enough protection when they first get a vaccine.
Immunocompromised individuals require three doses for their primary series. This is different than a booster dose. A booster dose is given once the primary series of all three vaccines is completed.
Third doses are available 28 days after the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer for anyone who:
- Is receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
- Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
- Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
- Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency
- Advanced or untreated HIV infection
- Is in active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress immune response If this is you, please speak with your doctor about whether you should get a booster shot or third dose of the vaccine.
The third dose should be the same type of vaccine as the first two whenever possible.
Talk to your doctor about your medical condition to determine if a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is right for you.Sun River Health will be sharing self-attestation forms to this regard shortly as this will be accepted for 3rd dose vaccinations. Additional information will be available to patients/communities on our internet soon as well.
When you come in to receive your third dose, be sure to bring your vaccination card!
