Should Christians Forgive Adultery
How do I forgive my husband for having an affair?
This article is written from the perspective of a woman whose husband has cheated on her. It is certainly not the case that only husbands cheat on their wives. Wives cheat too. Perhaps a second article will be written from the perspective of the cheated-on man. But for now, we look at the issue from the perspective of the woman, whose husband has broken his vow. I suppose I am writing from this perspective first because, as a man, it seems only fair to endure the scrutiny and need of forgiveness first.
I suppose every married man needs forgiveness. At least, thats what St. Matthew would say if he were writing this article. He doesnt mix his words: I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
The truth is, there isnt a married man on the face of this earth who hasnt had a lustful thought about someone other than his wife. So, according to Matthew, every wife is a victim of adultery.
Forgiveness In The Bible
Forgiveness is the act of wiping away, pardoning, or forgoing a debt.
As per the Bible verses about forgiveness, if we forgive, it means we forgo the hurt we underwent caused by someone and start the relationship afresh.
Forgiveness isnt granted because the person deserves it, but it is an act of mercy and grace covered by love.
Human beings are naturally sinful. The first people Adam and Eve disobeyed God right in front of him in the garden of Eden. Since then, people have been sinning.
According to Roman 3:23, For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This verse tells us that a human being is born sinners. In marriages, couples will sin against each other.
What kind of crimes do people in marriages commit? Adultery, drunkenness, lust, among others. Are these sins forgivable?
In Ephesians 4:32, the Bible says to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
From that scripture on forgiveness, the Bible just uses Christ as a reference in mercy. In marriage, we should aim at being kind-hearted to partners that have wronged us. We should focus on forgiving their mistakes.
Additionally, forgiveness in marriage allows for Gods intervention in helping to solve the issue at hand. It prevents the urge for revenge among couples, stipulated well in Romans 12:19-21.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.

Forgive yourself for everything youre doing to feel okay. Forgive yourself for not knowing and for not asking the questions that were pressing against you when something didnt feel right. And let go of any shame for leaving, for staying, for any of the feelings you felt before the affair or during it or afterwards.

A: There are many sins recounted in the Hebrew Bible but none are ever called unforgivable sins. In the Book of Matthew , we read, Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.

Matthew 19:9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.

The Bible teaches that the blood Jesus shed on the cross covers all sin, including infidelity. the blood of Jesus, Gods Son, purifies us from all sin . This means that any sin we commit, including infidelity, can be forgiven when we come to Jesus with a repentant heart.
Jesus was without sin. His perfect life allowed him to sacrifice himself on our behalf. According to the Bible, the wages of sin is death . Thus, apart from Jesus shed blood, we are all under a death sentence because we are all sinners. But once we recognize this and appeal to Jesus, we are forgiven from all our sin.
Gods forgiveness, however, does not exempt us from the earthly consequences of our actions. Sexual sin often scars more deeply than other types of sin. Consequently, more of Gods grace and time is often needed for complete healing.
How Should These Two Wives Deal With Their Husbands Sins
As I just stated, Marthas husband by attending strip clubs is definitely committing the sin of whoremongering by engaging in at least virtual or physical sexual relations with strippers.
Soul Fruit Sisters husband is making provision for himself to fall into sexual sin which is a sin in and of itself.
In the case of Marthas husband which is clear cut case of sexual sin it would not be inappropriate for her to bring this to her church elders if her husband was church member. But my reasoning for this is not based on Matthew 18 which Soul Fruit Sister alluded to.
First lets look at Matthew 18:15-17 :
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Some Christians have wrongly interpreted Matthew 18:15-17 to mean we can go to our church elders anytime anyone in the church does even the slightest thing to us. If they wont admit their fault to us in private, we can run to the church elders and tattle on them. But this is not what Christ is saying at all when we look at the entirety of the New Testament witness.
As Christians we must balance two principles.

Infidelity has two meanings: one being unfaithful to a spouse or sexual partner, the other disbelief in a religion.
The Bahai Faith condemns infidelity in marriage, but this sin may be forgiven. Should anyone be afflicted by a sin, it behoveth him to repent thereof and return unto his Lord. He, verily, granteth forgiveness unto whomsoever He willeth, and none may question that which is pleaseth Him to ordain. He is, in truth, the Ever-Forgiving, the Almighty, the All-Praised .
All religious teachings of the past have divided the human world into two parts: people of the Book of God, or the pure tree and the other people of infidelity and error, or the evil tree. The New Testament requires believers to deny physical and spiritual lusting after people and false gods and to conduct their behavior at a high moral and spiritual level. Sexual activity is to be confined to the marriage relationship, and if a married man or woman has sexual intercourse with someone other than the spouse, that person has committed adultery. To be most satisfying for the Christian, sexual activity must reflect the values of self-sacrificing love and the unity of personality to which the Christian’s reconciliation to God by the atoning work of Jesus brings the believing couple.
