Why Invoking Doomsday Scenarios Can Be Harmful
Invoking “end-times” biblical passages may actually bolster some people’s faith by giving meaning to events that seem cruel and arbitrary.
But people who invoke the terrifying imagery of Revelation in connection with COVID-19 can do more than get scripture wrong. They can damage others psychological health, Beal says.
“I had one student who was reading Revelation outside on the waterfront and she fell asleep and woke up in the middle of a thunderstorm. She had an absolute panic attack because she felt like she was in the book,” says Beal, a religion professor at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.
Doomsday predictions from the Bible can also lead to another danger — doing nothing, Beal says. He believes people who are seized with panic over something like COVID-19 may ignore other chronic issues threatening humanitys survival, such as climate change.
“It can lead to a call to inaction,” Beal says about misinterpretations of Revelation. “That is to say, people will say this is all happening because of God’s plan and it’s going to get worse before it gets better so there’s nothing we can do about it because it’s God’s will.”
But that probably won’t stop people from invoking Revelation when a pandemic hits. For centuries it’s been the go-to book for doomsday prophets warning about the spread of “end-times plagues” and bizarre weather patterns.
“The book of Revelation is not a book about predictions but a book of consolation,” Lehner says.
Theres A Long History Of Bad Doomsday Predictions
Whatever the motive, doomsday predictions don’t have a good track record.
Remember Y2K? How about the recent “Mayan Apocalypse?”
Some people pointed to the end of the Maya Long Count calendar, on December 21, 2012, to conclude it also meant the end of the world. They warned of giant tidal waves and that the Earth would collide with another planet. Sales of survival kits soared, and there were reports that a man in China built a modern-day Noah’s ark.
As The End Approaches
However long it is until the actual end of the age, one theme the biblical writers emphasized is that it draws nearer every day. Paul warns us that “now it is high time to awake out of sleep for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed” .
And salvation is certainly important to keep in mind as everything falls to pieces around us. The end of the world as we know it, though it includes many catastrophes on a scale never seen in history, is not all bad news for mankind. It includes good news too. God will intervene before it is too late . The alternative is not only the destruction of human civilization but the annihilation of the human race itself.
The only wise action for anyone who understands what is coming is to turn to God with repentance and obedience .
When Jesus comes in power and glory, He will rebuke the world for its sins. This is part of the message proclaimed from the beginning of the true Christian Church. On the day of the Church’s founding, the apostle Peter exhorted his audience, “Be saved from this perverse generation” .
This is the message the Church is still commissioned to proclaim. How were the people to be saved? Peter urged them to repentto turn from their own sinful, selfish ways and to seek God’s waysand to be baptized . At His second coming Christ will reward those who do so.

What Does This Mean
The church is the custodian of Gods revealed will and truth, and thus cant compromise with error and any church no matter how seemingly loving it is, how much it does in the sphere of social welfare, or social justice any church that throws the mantle of a false charity over its spiritual bankruptcy in compromising with false religions is proved thereby not to be Christian in any orthodox sense and is, in fact, a precursor to the one-world religion. Be aware, be forewarned, and be wise.

Is Time Running Out
Reagan expressed concern that Armageddon may occur in our generation. His defense secretary, Casper Weinberger, observed: “I believe the world is going to endby an act of God, I hopebut every day I think time is running out” .
Former French president Valery Giscard d’Estaing commented on the state of humanity: “The world is unhappy because it doesn’t know where it is going and because it senses that, if it knew, it would discover that it was heading for disaster” .
Former U.S. vice president Al Gore speculated on the longevity of the world: “Two world wars, the Holocaust, the invention of nuclear weapons, and now the global environmental crisis have led many of us to wonder if survival . . . is possible” .
Indeed, experts from many fields share the concern that we could see the end of civilization as we know it. These concerns have created an age of anxiety, especially in a world where so little seems certain anymore.
Many others, however, say there is no need to be concerned about the world ending. They point to epidemics of end-time panic that have raged in the past. They list many failed past predictions regarding the end of the world.
Such criticism is justified to a point. Doomsday predictions have abounded for centuries date-setters have been wrong many times. The problem with most of these prognostications was that, though well intentioned, the specific chronological details were the ideas of men who badly misinterpreted information in Scripture.

Will There Be Anything Left After The End Of The World
Yes. The earth will still be here, for the Bible says that it will not be moved from its place forever and ever. And the earth will be filled with people, just as the Bible promises: The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it. God will bring about the conditions that he originally purposed:

What Does Scripture Say Will Happen In The End Days
Isaiah 26:20-21 reads: Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.
“See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins.
“The earth will disclose the blood shed on it the earth will conceal its slain no longer.”
“If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.”
Does The Bible Predict The End Of The World Are We Really In The End Times
When the year 2020 started, a lot of unprecedented events began shaking the whole world. One after another, unlikely happenings continue to make headlines. To mention somethe fires in Australia, the earthquake in Puerto Rico, the conflict between US and Iran, the shooting down of a Ukrainian plane resulting to the death of all 176 passengers, the persecution of Christians in China, the volcanic eruption in the Philippines, and the severe drought in Thailand. And now, the major unexpected phenomenon, the coronavirus pandemic. So are we really in the end times? Is it the end of the world?

The Four Corners Of The Earth
There are three verses in the Bible that are often quoted by Christian proponents of the flat earth theory. The first, Revelation 7:1, states: And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. The repetition of the number four creates an obvious connection between the four angels, the four corners of the earth and the four cardinal points from which the winds are about to blow: North, South, East, and West. As Faulkner points out, not even a hyper-literal interpretation of the Bible can disregard the symbolism of the book of Revelation. The four corners of the earth is an expression which is widely used in different languages, but always with the same meaning: to indicate the farthest points on earth or a great distance, not literal corners.
In some translations of the Bible, mentions of the four corners of the earth appear almost 30 times and, if understood literally, would not only suggest that the earth is flat but also that it is square. There is no cosmology in which the earth is square. Not even followers of the flat earth theory claim such a thing. This once again highlights the non-literal interpretation of the phrase.
Choose Hope Not Despair
In the same message from New York City in 1969, Billy Graham said people tend to react to the idea of the end of the world in one of three ways: with pessimism, activism or hope.
I belong to that group that has a theology of hope, he said. Because my hope is not centered in this world or in what man is going to do or not going to do. My hope is centered in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ, who the Bible says is going to come back someday and straighten the whole mess out.
If you are a follower of Christ, you also have hope, especially when it comes to end times. The idea of the end of the world may seem frightening, but those who are in Christ have nothing to fear.

What Are We Told About The One World Religion In The End Times
Many Protestant thinkers have written a plethora of books on the identity of this one-world religion, suggesting everything from Roman Catholicism to Islam and the New Age Movement. If we consider the facts carefully, we can develop at least a shadow of what this one-world religion will promote.
First, as Western culture becomes increasingly liberal , so too do the religious views of the vast majority of Westerners. Issues such as homosexuality, the age of accountability, marriage, have all shifted very far from the Christian roots of traditional Western societies.
The buzzword for all of these changes is tolerance, and holds all the influence of any doctrine of the Christian Faith. We can rest assured that whatever form the one world religion takes, it will demand inclusivity and tolerance.
Tolerance is a good thing to have in a healthy society but can be abused for nefarious purposes. Today tolerance or its abuse is considered to be the first duty of the citizen with regard to religion. We are told we must tolerate all other religions and treat them as if they possess the same truths, we, as Christians, profess.
In fact, Pope Francis himself has said as much in claiming Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Is this really how Christians are to view religious pluralism? Does tolerance demand we be indifferent to divine truth, or accept false religions like the coming one world religion as equal to Christianity?

Doomsday Prophets Always Talk About The End Of The World What Does The Bible Really Say About End
Pick a yearany yearand probably somebody somewhere has predicted it for the end of the world.
Many are intrigued by these dire predictions, but many others are jaded and skeptical, having heard it all before.
They dismiss all talk about the end of the world in spite of the fact that serious scientists and world leaders constantly warn of clear and present dangers that threaten the existence of the human race, or at least the end of the world as we know it.
Key Beliefs Of Amillennialism:
· As Benware notes, amillennialism is somewhat of a misnomer. In fact, amillennialists do believe in a millennium, but think it has already begun and is identical with the current church age.
· They consider the millennium as the current spiritual reign of Christ on earth through His church.
· Even though they believe Christ is Lord over the earth in the present age, however, they have a pessimistic view of the present age.”
· They believe things on earth will only improve after Christs Second Coming, when eternity, and Christs full Kingdom, begins.
· Amillennialism is the most commonly held eschatological viewpoint in worldwide Christianity, since Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Episcopalians, and other denominations hold it as their official teaching.
· Amillennialism is also an old view of the end times, possibly emerging as early as the first century. It gained the most adherents during the Medieval period and was the main viewpoint of most Protestant reformers, including John Calvin and .

When Is Christ Coming The Twenty Signs Of The Bible Give Us A Clue

Millions of Americans are caught up in a desperate attempt to know the future. The phenomenal rise in the sale of crystal balls, Ouija boards and Vien nese fortunetelling tarot cards is only a part of the new groping into the future.
A couple of years ago I was having breakfast with Walter Reuther. Reu ther said, Science could bring para dise to earth by the year 2000. I replied, There is one flaw. No one has fed into the computers the facts about man’s moral weakness, his ten dency toward hate, lust, greed that produce racism, crime, war and a thousand other evils.
The predictions of future events occupy approximately one quarter of all the Bible: The teaching of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is dealt with in some 1,800 passages in the Bibleover 318 of these being in the New Testament.
The prophecies of the Bible do not predict a world of gradual progress toward a materialistic paradise. They see a world torn by lawlessness, war, famines and pestilences on a scale that only God himself can terminate if the human race is to survive.
Constantly throughout the Bible the phrase the last days or that day or the day or the day of the Lord is used, indicating in most places an X period in history when dramatic events will take place. These events will culminate in God’s intervention and the literal return of Jesus Christ to this planet.
The inevitable question comes, When is Christ coming? Do you think His coming is near?
