Christian Quotes About Reconciliation

Should we confess our sins to a priest? What does the Bible say about confession?

The Cross is the ultimate evidence that there is no length the love of God will refuse to go in effecting reconciliation. R. Kent Hughes

In Christ alone, and His payment of the penalty for our sins upon the Cross, we find reconciliation to God and ultimate meaning and purpose. Dave Hunt

When we allow Gods love to trump our anger, we are able to experience restoration in relationships. Gwen Smith

Our love ought to follow the love of God in one point, namely, in always seeking to produce reconciliation. It was to this end that God sent His Son. C. H. Spurgeon

The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest.

The very God whom we have offended has Himself provided the way whereby the offence has been dealt with. His anger, His wrath against sin and the sinner, has been satisfied, appeased and He therefore can now thus reconcile man unto Himself. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Love chooses reconciliation over retaliation every time.

Reconciliation heals the soul. The joy of rebuilding broken relationships and hearts. If its healthy for your growth, forgive and love.

God can restore any marriage no matter how battered or broken. Stop talking to people and get on your knees with God.

What Does The Bible Say About Reconciliation

Our sins have separated us from God. God is holy. He is separated from all evil. The problem is, we are not. God cannot have fellowship with the wicked. We are wicked. Weve sinned against everything especially the Holy creator of the universe. God would still be just and still be loving if He threw us into hell for eternity. God doesnt owe us a thing. Out of His great love for us He came down in bodily form.

Jesus lived the perfect life we couldnt live and on the cross He took our place. A criminal has to be punished. God measured out the punishment. God crushed His sinless Son.

It was a painful death. It was a bloody death. Jesus Christ paid for your transgressions in full.

Jesus reconciled us to God. Because of Jesus we can get to know God better. Because of Jesus we can get to enjoy God.

Because of Jesus Christians are confident that Heaven will be awaiting us at the finish line. Gods love is evident on the cross. Salvation is all of grace. All men must repent and believe on Christ.

Christians have full assurance that Jesus took all our sins away. Jesus is our only claim to Heaven. We must understand that God shows the greatest example of humility. He was rich, but became poor for us. He came in the form of man for us.

He died for us. We must never hold a grudge against anyone. Christians should always seek reconciliation with friends and family even if it isnt our fault. We are to be imitators of God who forgave us.

Therefore Confess Your Sins To One Another And Pray For One Another That You May Be Healed The Prayer Of A Righteous Person Has Great Power As It Is Working James : 16 Esv

The miracle of salvation is that God involves us in His eternal plan. The only way we become righteous people is through Christ Jesus. We lay down the pursuits of the world and instead follow Him home to eternity. The life-long path of discipleship isnt easy, as many biblical people recorded in their pursuit of holiness on this earth. Every day we face our humanity, which exists under the curse of sin. We cannot fully shake it this side of heaven, and so Jesus made a way for us, through Him, to confess our sins and stand in the presence of our Holy God. Confessing our sins leads to healing and restoration, both attributes are worth seeking.

What Does The Bible Say About Love Offering

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Then, How do I report a love offering?

When the collected funds are given to the pastor, they must be reported as taxable income. If the recipient is an employee, the love offering should be added to his or her W-2. If the recipient is not a church employee, the income should be report on a Form 1099-MISC if $600 or more was paid out.

But also, Why is offering important to God?

Giving opens doors of blessing and opportunities to express Gods love. Giving not only proves our love for the Lord. It is also a sure way to have Gods blessings flowing in and through our lives. God promises to honour His Word and there are a number of scriptures which show that the Lord will take care of us.

What is the difference between offering and giving? There is a Difference Between Giving and Offering

When we give, we expect the other to receive. When we offer something it can be accepted or rejected. The offer stands on its own and does not depend on acceptance to be relevant or generous.

Does The Bible Say We Should Confess To A Priest

What Does The Bible Say About...Confession?

August 27, 2010 by Hellen

Why confess to a priest if Christ is our only Mediator? Says the Protestant. Every Catholic should know the answer to this question. But if you still dont know, then read this:

According to the RCC, the Sacrament in question is called the Sacrament of RECONCILIATION or PENANCE, not confession, as it is popularly called. Catholics believe that no priest, as an individual man, however pious or learned, has the power to forgive sins apart from God. However, the Priest in the confessional, after having performed the preparation for the Sacrament by reciting the formula of absolution, forgives the sins of the penitent in Persona Christi or the person of Christ, as though we were confessing to Jesus Himself.

Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything,I have done for your sakes, in the person of Christ. 2Corinthians 2:10

Likewise, we see this at Holy Mass, when the Priest blesses the offerings of bread and wine and asks God the Father to accept them and through the Holy Spirit, transform the substance into the Body and Blood of Christ, as Jesus Himself did at the Last Supper, it is no longer him who is performing the miracle of the Transubstantiation, but Christ himself through the Priest.

Pastors, priests, and ministers have a gratifying career filled with love, but when it comes to buying a home or refinancing, the clergy is not feeling the love. This comes from a beneficial, nontaxable form of income called pastoral housing allowance.

Meditate On These Things

Phil. 4:8. Whatever things are true etc, meditate on these things

This verse urges us to think about good things. Admittedly it could be teaching positive confession. But one of the major purposes of this epistle was to encourage believers to follow Jesus example of self sacrificing service and make it a way of life to do good to others. A positive confession interpretation of Phil 4:8 is totally out of context with the message of Philippians. It is more likely that what Paul intended was, Set your minds on these things so you can put them into practice as opposed to imagining and fantasizing about good things. Context!

Through Christ We Are Reconciled To God

4. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christs behalf, Be reconciled to God.

5. Romans 5:10-11 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life! Not only that, but we also continue to boast about God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah, through whom we have now been reconciled.

6. Romans 5:1-2 Now that we have Gods approval by faith, we have peace with God because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done. Through Christ we can approach God and stand in his favor. So we brag because of our confidence that we will receive glory from God.

7. Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.

Bad Example : King Saul

What Does Bible Say About, Death Bed Confessions and Unfair Pay

Saul was Israels first king. When he was chosen, he seemed like a humble man. He became a decisive and powerful leader. But he became careless and jealous of Davids popularity. On one occasion, David confronted the king, asking Saul why he was chasing him, though he had done nothing wrong. Saul confessed, I have sinned. Return, my son David, for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Behold, I have acted foolishly, and have made a great mistake. However, in the very next chapter, David continues to see Saul as a threat.

Is Confession In Scripture

The Lord declares in Isaiah 43:25:

I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.

Psalm 103:2-3 adds:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases

Many will use these verses against the idea of confession to a priest. God forgiving sins, they will claim, precludes the possibility of there being a priest who forgives sins. Further, Hebrews 3:1 and 7:22-27 tell us Jesus is, the high priest of our confession and that there are not many priests, but one in the New TestamentJesus Christ. Moreover, if Jesus is the one mediator between God and men , how can Catholics reasonably claim priests act in the role of mediator in the Sacrament of Confession?

God Has Done His Part

God not only created us, but He took on human flesh, lived a perfect life as a man, and died a terrible death to pay for our sins. Christ has provided the way of forgiveness, salvation, and fellowship with God .

If we want the joy that comes from unbroken fellowship with God, we must do our part. Jesus did the hard part by paying for our sins on the cross . Our part begins with believing in Christ as the Son of God who died to pay for the sin of the whole world and trusting Him as our Savior .

God has finished His part

Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many . For the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross once, but has been seated at the right hand of the throne of God . Jesus has already paid for all the sins of every person who has ever lived or ever will.

But we must keep on doing our part

Our relationship with God begins the moment we are spiritually born again by repentance and faith in Jesus as Christ our Savior. But believing in Christ does not make us perfect. We still have a sin nature and continue to sin.

Believing in Christ does not make us perfect. We still have a sin nature and continue to sin.

Full And Active Participation

What does the Bible say about confession of sin to a ...

If one understands the very Catholic and very biblical notion of participation, these problematic texts and others become relatively easy to understand. Yes, Jesus Christ is the one mediator between God and men just as I Tim. 2:5 says. The Bible is clear. Yet, Christians are also called to be mediators in Christ. When we intercede for one another or share the Gospel with someone, we act as mediators of Gods love and grace in the one true mediator, Christ Jesus, via the gift of participation in Christ, the sole mediator between God and men . All Christians, in some sense, can say with St. Paul, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me

Other Explanations For Romans : 9

As was highlighted in the previous section, a person confessing Christ was an indicator of a serious inner commitment. Some, then, point to this verse as stating that a persons faith will be evidenced by their outward confession, not that the confession itself will save them.

Furthermore, the Greek word used for profess or confess carries the idea of confirming, or stating that which is already true.

Perhaps even more compelling is the study of the words salvation and justification in Romans, as explored deeply by Dr. John F. Hart of Moody Bible Institute, and more accessible by Pastor Jeremy Myers of Redeeming God.

When Paul uses the word that we translate to justification in Romans, he is talking about our eternal salvation, or our freedom from condemnation, that comes from Gods imputed righteousness.

Thus, in Romans 10:10, when he says, For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, he is echoing what we explored in other passages, namely, that our eternal salvation and status as righteous before God is based upon inward belief.

However, the word translated as salvation in this passage is not typically used by Paul to mean our eternal destiny. This salvation, rather, is the breaking of the power of sin over us in this life what we might better recognize as sanctification.

Confession Of Gods Word Builds Faith Kenneth E Hagin

Central Truth: Confession is faiths way of expressing itself. Faiths confession creates reality.

It is always possible to tell if a person is believing right by what he says. If his confession is wrong, his believing is wrong. If his believing is wrong, his thinking is wrong. If his thinking is wrong, it is because his mind has not been renewed with the Word of God. All three believing, thinking, saying go together. God has given us His Word to get our thinking straightened out. We can think in line with Gods Word.

In our studies on the subject of confession we have dealt with three types of confession: the confession of the sins of the Jews, the confession of the sinner today, and the confession of a believer who is out of fellowship with God. In this lesson we will discuss the confessing of our faith in Gods Word.

As we mentioned in a previous lesson, whenever the word confession is used, we instinctively think of sin and failure. But that is the negative side. That is important in its place, of course, but there is a positive side and the Bible has more to say about the positive than the negative.

Confessions Five Parts

Confessing is affirming something we believe. It is testifying to something we know. It is witnessing for a truth that we have embraced. Our confession should center around five things:

1. What God in Christ has wrought for us in His plan of redemption.

3. What we are to God the Father in Christ Jesus.

To Forgive Or To Proclaim

Many Protestants and various quasi-Christian sects claim John 20:23 must be viewed as Christ simply repeating the great commission of Matthew 28:19 and Luke 24:47 using different words that mean the same thing:

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations

Commenting on John 20:23 in his book, RomanismThe Relentless Roman Catholic Assault on the Gospel of Jesus Christ! , p. 100, Protestant Apologist Robert Zins writes:

It is apparent that the commission to evangelize is tightly woven into the commission to proclaim forgiveness of sin through faith in Jesus Christ.

Mr. Zins claim is that John 20:23 is not saying the apostles would forgive sins rather, that they would merely proclaim the forgiveness of sins. The only problem with this theory is it runs head-on into the text of John 20. If you forgive the sins of any if you retain the sins of any. The text cannot say it any clearer: this is more than a mere proclamation of the forgiveness of sinsthis commission of the Lord communicates the power to actually forgive the sins themselves.
