What Does This Mean
Love is powerful and it is a game-changer. If we all chose to love as God commands us to, the world would be a much better place. Valentines Day is a popular holiday where we extend love to others in the form of gifts, chocolates, and cards.
While these gestures are nice, what would it look like if we radically loved others as Jesus commanded us? Valentine’s Day is a holiday known for extending love to others, but what if we made the intentional decision to love each other every day not just on a man-made holiday?
Extending love can be hard at times, but God urges us to love others just as He loves us. May this upcoming Valentines Day remind you of Gods great love that He has for you. Even if you are alone this Valentines, Gods great love for you will always remain steadfast and true.

Christian Misconceptions About Godly Love
Misconception 1:
We cant love like Christ. His love is just something to aspire to, not something you can actually reach.
This is false. The Bible says, We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us , for God called us to be conformed to the image of Christ and to love one another like he loved us .
These comments usually come from people who dont want to obey God, listen to the lies of the devil, or have failed to love because they tried in their own strength. Loving like Jesus is possible because Jesus commanded us to do so.
Misconception 2:
You have to first love yourself before you can love others.
I hear this often, but when you look at Scripture its not there. The truth is: most people love themselves already. By nature were self-centered beings.
In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus said to love God first. If you love God first, youll be filled with his love in return so you wont have a problem loving your neighbor as it goes on to command .
To love yourself first is contrary to the word of God, self-centered, and not an attribute of love as we see in 1 Corinthians 13:5. If a person doesnt love themselves, its because they dont love God. Loving God rids a person of self-love issues.
Love Is The Greatest Of All The Virtues
These first two verses really set the stage on how high God is really ranking the quality of love. As you will see with the way these two verses are being worded, God the Father is placing the quality of love as #1 in the entire scheme of things.
The first verse lists three specific virtues, with faith being one of them.
And then it ends stating that love is the greatest of these three virtues including being greater than faith itself. Just stop and think for a minute what God is trying to tell us with just this one statement in that having the love of God operating and flowing through us is even better and greater than having higher levels of faith in Him.
Without faith in God we cannot connect to Him. Without faith in God there can be no miracles. Faith is our lifeline to the Lord. Without faith in God, we would be spiritually dead in the Lord.
So why would God say the quality of love is even greater than our lifeline to Him, which is our faith?
I believe God is trying to tell us something very important with this statement, and the apostle Paul perfectly captures what that something is in the second verse I will list below. Paul makes one of the most classic statements ever made on the importance of love and how this quality fits into the big picture as far as God is concerned.
But if you do not have the love of God operating in your life, then all of this gifting, power, knowledge, and works in the Lord will all be for nothing! I repeat all for nothing!

We all need to be with the right person, that person that understands us and our flaws.
We need someone that has all the qualities we desire.
Someone willing to love us the way we are.
Most importantly, we need a partner that will be faithful.
Not someone that breaks your heart with every chance that they get.
Thats why we must be patient while waiting for the right person.
We mustnt rush into the next available relationship.
We must be patient and trust in God for a perfect partner.

I have been in a similar situation where I was left heartbroken from a very toxic relationship.

The spirit of lust is a terrible thing because its the exact opposite of love . A man or woman in the spirit of lust is looking to relieve themselves at the expense of another. Theyre looking to quench the thirst in their soul which can only be fulfilled by God.
How do you know youre in the spirit of lust? You will feel out of control, and if you do get what you want, you wont be satisfied.
Do not mistaken strong desire for love and dont let desire lead you into the spirit of lust. Desire can be normal and natural thing, but the spirit of lust is abnormal and leads to destruction. Believers have been given the power of self-control to combat the spirit of lust .

We Have The Ability To Love Because Of God
We love because he first loved us.
We wouldnt know what love is if it wasnt for God. He showed us in that He loved us so much, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Most of us learn from experience. We learn good or bad about , parenting, work and faith from witnessing it from our parents. We experience the love of God by accepting His free gift of love, mercy and forgiveness. That gives us the ability to extend the same love to others.

Infatuation is but a beginning. The pleasurable feelings it creates are the Creator’s way to stimulate a man and woman to grow interested in one another, which can then lead them to marry, procreate and build secure and happy families.
