Adam is the first man created by God. He was the husband of Eve and the father of Cain, Abel, Seth, and other sons and daughters. He is the father of the human race. When he ate the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge¹ of good and evil, he brought sin into the world, and together with Eve, his wife, they alienated themselves from God, leaving the Garden of Heaven.
Eve, created from Adams rib, was the first woman and became the mother of all men.Tempted by the serpent, she also gave Adam a taste of the forbidden fruit.

Read Genesis 2:16-17, and Genesis 3:1-6 . Compare the words of Gods commandment to Adam with the serpents words to the woman. What are the differences between the speeches, and what is the meaning of these differences?
Note the parallels between Gods conversation with Adam and Eves conversation with the serpent. It is as if the serpent has now replaced God and knows even better than He does. At first, he merely asked a question, implying that the woman had, perhaps, misunderstood God. But then Satan openly questioned Gods intentions and even contradicted Him.
Satans attack concerns two issues, death and the knowledge of good and evil. While God clearly and emphatically stated that their death would be certain , Satan said that, on the contrary, they wouldnt die, all but implying that humans were immortal . While God forbade Adam to eat from the fruit , Satan encouraged them to eat the fruit because by eating of it they would be like God .
Satans two arguments, immortality and being like God, convinced Eve to eat the fruit. It is troubling that as soon as the woman decided to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit, she behaved as if God were no longer present and had been replaced by herself. The biblical text alludes to this shift of personality. Eve uses Gods language: Eves evaluation of the forbidden fruit, saw that was good , reminds of Gods evaluation of His creation, saw that it was good .

Is Eating Meat A Sin?
We are made to understand by the Scriptures that sin is an act against Gods will. Original sin is inherited from Adam and Eve, while individual Christians are responsible or at the origin of their personal sins. As a matter of fact, breaking Gods commandments are considered sinful but there remains disagreement about what acts or omissions are considered sinful. Most people of faith do not believe that eating meat is a sin, though there is an increasing number of Christians who think that being vegan brings them closer to God and also closer to the Peaceable Kingdom that is prophesied in Isaiah.
The prophecy in Isaiah 11:6-9 reads, The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze their young shall lie down together and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adders den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good And Evil
This helps us to make sense of the forbidden tree. If God wants them to flourish, why does he put a forbidden fruit-tree in the centre? It seems like such a bad idea! Its like putting a knife in the middle of a nursery and saying, Kids, dont play with that knife.
Why not just get rid of the knife?
I believe God put the tree there, not to tempt them, but because, eventually, at the right time, it was his purpose that they should eat from it.
I believe God put the tree there because, after their training, they would have been invited by God to eat and to gain wisdom. I have three reasons for believing this was the case.
1. Trees as Wisdom
First, in the Bible, trees often stand for wisdom. Psalm 1 pictures the righteous as trees Proverbs 3:18 pictures wisdom itself as a tree. Trees are associated with wisdom.
2. The knowledge of Good and Evil
Second the tree is called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. What does that mean?
Deuteronomy 1:39 talks about children as those who do not yet know good from evil. In 2 Samuel 14:17 a servant compliments the king by saying my lord the king is like an angel of God in knowing good and evil. Israels great king, Solomon, on becoming king is invited to ask God for whatever he likes. What does he ask God for? The ability to discern good from evil . That is, he prays for wisdom.
To know good and evil is to be able to rule like God. Which is exactly what the humans were called to do.

How Did Eve Know It Was Edible
If you were to open a childrens book about Adam and Eve and read about their sin, chances are that it would say Adam and Eve ate an apple. Having children of my own and receiving kind gifts relating to Genesis, such as Bibles for kids, I usually have to look them over for any red flags.
Its not just in childrens books. For example, this idea made its way into the encyclopedia:
Many people believe an apple was the fruit that, according to the Bible, Adam and Eve ate in the Garden of Eden.1
The confusion of this fruit with the apple may be due to the similarity of the two words in the Latin translation of the Bible, known as the Vulgate. The word evil in the tree’s name in Latin is mali . The word apple in other places is mala or malum . It seems like this similarity may have led to the confusion. In the original Hebrew, the words are not even close. The word in Genesis 2:17 for evil is rah, while the word for apples in Proverbs 25:11 is tappuwach.
How Did Eve Know The Fruit Was Edible And Desirable To Make One Wise
Some have wondered how Eve knew that the fruit was edible and, for that matter, desirable to make one wise. Lets address this first part first.
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
Here, Adam was commanded not to eat, and this command made it to Eve as well albeit, she did not articulate it properly to the serpent . Therefore, one may assume that the fruit would be impossible to eat .
However, take note of what the Lord God says: for in the day you eat of it. The Lord knew that Adam would eat. So, the fruit was edible.2 However, I do not suggest that this was the reason Eve knew the fruit to be edible. The Bible reveals something else:
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. (Genesis 3:6
Eve noticed something in Genesis 3:6. It says that she saw that the fruit was good for food. So, she was not reminiscing about what God had said, but something else had caught her eye regarding the fruit.
The aspect of gaining wisdom was not based on eating the fruit, but on visual acuity.

Who Ate The Apple First
They were in Heaven and God told them not to eat from that fruit, Eve insisted on eating from the sea and Adam accepted. Eve also ate after Eve and Adam and God punished them.

What The Scriptures Say About What We Should Eat
In the New Covenant of Grace, the Scriptures are far more concerned with how much Christians eat than what foods they eat. Physical appetites are an analogy of our ability to control ourselves. Thats why if we are unable to control our eating habits, well probably also be unable to control other habits such as those of the mind . Likewise, well also be unable to keep our mouths from strife or gossip. As followers of Christ or Christians, we are not to allow our appetites to control us rather, we are to exercise discipline over them .

The Reality Of The Garden Of Eden
Is the story narrated in Genesis 3 fictious? Is it allegorical? Not really! While it contains important lessons to learn from, chief among them, the importance of obedience, its physical reality is attested in some books of the Bible.
In Ezekiel 28, the Prophet Ezekiel is told to weep for the King of Tyre, and deliver a message to him. Careful study of verses 12-19 indicate the message Prophet Ezekiel was to deliver to the King of Tyre had a spiritual aspect to it. The physical description of the King suggests it didn’t describe the mortal king of Tyre but a spiritual being – Satan. In the verses, reference is made of the Garden of Eden, and Satan, an annointed Guardian Angel being in the garden. Ezekiel 31 and Isaiah 51 also mention the Garden of Eden in reference to the message the prophets were told to deliver to the Pharaoh of Egypt, and to the people of Israel who pursue righteousness.
In the Book of Revelation, reference is made of the Tree of Life. In Genesis 3, God permitted Adam to eat of any fruit in the garden expect the Tree of Knowledge. This implies Adam and Eve were allowed to eat fruits from the Tree of Life as it’s the only means of extending their life on earth. The mention of the Tree of Life, in Revelation, is a confirmation the Garden of Eden existed in ancient time.
In Revelation 22:19, Jesus says, “And if anyone substracts any part of these prophecies, God shall take away his share in the Tree of Life, and in the Holy City just described. “
What Was The Forbidden Fruit In The Garden Of Eden
God planted two unique and important fruit trees in Adam and Eves habitat. These were no ordinary trees. Both produced fruit that provided more than physical sustenance. The Tree Of Life bore supernatural fruit that had the power to sustain life foreverwhile the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil produced fruit that would, among other things, inflict the curse of death upon Adam and Eve if they ate it.
These two trees shared the center stage in Edens illustrious garden. Adam and Eve would have witnessed the trees blossom and grow each day, as they went about their duties, tending the garden and caring for the animals. From the very beginning, God made his commandment about the deadly tree clear. And the LORD God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die” .

When you read the creation story you discover from Genesis that there were plenty of trees in the garden.
Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden and there he put the man he had formed. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil .
God put them in the garden and provided them with plenty of choices of food to eat. I would imagine that every type of tree bearing fruit was probably represented in the garden. This is only my speculation, but I would say think of any fruit that grows on a tree and it was probably available in the garden. I dont have proof of this, but it is a reasonable assumption.
There were however two important trees in the middle of the garden that were different from the rest. The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life as it states gave life, particularly eternal life. The other tree would produce death.

Rabbit Is Forbidden For A Weird Reason
Leviticus 11:6 says: “The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof it is unclean for you.” Sure, rabbits are adorable and some might find eating an animal some keep as a pet pretty questionable … but rabbits don’t chew cud. Do they?
No, says Apologetics Press, and this verse is often pointed to in order to condemn the accuracy of the Bible. If God knows all, the theory goes, then surely the fact that rabbits aren’t ruminants should be on the list … right? He created them, after all, so why are they forbidden based on something that’s just not true?
They argue that the verse just refers to cud-chewing for a little bit of a visual reference as to why they’re on the forbidden list, because the way they chew does sort of look like they’re chewing cud. Got Questions says it’s likely a less-than-perfect translation from the Hebrew version of the Old Testament, and it got the point across perfectly fine: don’t eat rabbits.
What Kind Of Death Resulted From The Forbidden Fruit
The original Hebrew, Genesis was written in, provides more context for the meaning of the forbidden fruit. Dr. Elmer Towns shares, The Hebrew language indicates here that if Adam sinned he would die twice! . . . There are two kinds of death . . . physical and spiritual. In the Bible, the theological meaning of the word death is separate. The death of the body is the separation of soul and spirit from the body. The death of the soul and spirit is their separation from God. This is the death that Adam died, and in Adam we died also.
The context behind this is that the disobedience of consuming the fruit was the second sin, the first being that Adam and Eve chose to not believe God was telling the truth. This invoked a double death or separation. Adam and Eve would experience in time a natural death but also a separation from God directly being cast from the Garden. This was not a punishment, rather a consequence of their actions.
