Connecting With The Rich Traditions Of The Past Forging A Way Forward Into The Future

Worship at Woodland is a little different than many other Baptist churches. We value a rich, liturgical, classical style of worship with an emphasis on excellent music and dynamic, thoughtful preaching. During non-pandemic times, we have a large choir that works hard to lead us in the worship of God every week. Our ministers wear robes out of respect to God, humility in their dress, and as a way of identifying with the broader Christian tradition. We follow the church calendar with seasons such as advent, epiphany, and lent. Most, but not all of the time, we preach from the Lectionary, which means youll hear a wide variety of messages from the whole counsel of Scripture. Many other churches in San Antonio do an excellent job with their chosen worship styles, but we hope at Woodland you will find a fresh connection with God through our engaging traditional worship.

Each year we set aside different seasons to remember different portions of the life of Christ and the purpose of His church. No matter what your personal style, youll be comfortable. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire chances are there will be others dressed much like you when you visit.

Where Kids Go

Supervised nurseries are available during all services freeing parents to worship, receive instruction from Gods word, and participate in ministry confident that their childrens needs are being met.

Sunday school classes for children 4 years old 5th grade are located in the school building behind the gym. We ask that parents drop off their children no earlier than 9:15am.
