Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church Installs New Senior Pastor
Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church will install its newly-appointed senior pastor, Reverend Carlos D. Williams, Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021. The Installation service will begin at 3:30 p.m. and be held at the church, located at 1819 N. Washington Ave. in Dallas. Ministers from across the country and local community leaders will be in attendance.
The installation celebration will kick off Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. with a DFW service featuring Pastor William T. Glynn of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fort Worth as the guest speaker. There will be two services on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021. The 10 a.m. worship service will feature Pastor Marcus Davidson from New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Dr. A. B. Sutton, Jr. with Living Stones Temple in Birmingham, AL will speak at the 3:30 p.m. installation service.
Dr. Williams will serve as the fourth senior pastor of Pilgrim Rest. He was preceded by founder and inaugural pastor Rev. S. G. Gooden, Rev. G. B. Prince, Jr., and Pastor Emeritus Dr. Curtis W. Wallace.
The 86-year-old church has been a beacon of hope and a mainstay in the community, once known as Short North Dallas.
Dr. Williams, a native of Shelby County, AL, comes to Pilgrim Rest from The Historic Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, where he served as senior pastor for eight years. He was selected to serve as senior pastor of Pilgrim Rest earlier this year and began leading the church in August.

New Pastor Set To Lead Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church
A pastoral search has ended after more than a year, with Dr. Carlos D. Williams named as the fourth senior pastor to lead the historic Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church , 1819 N. Washington Ave., in Dallas.
Dr. Williams will preach his first sermon at the church, Sunday, August 1, at 10 a.m.
A native of Shelby County, AL, Dr. Williams comes to the 86-year-old church from The Historic Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, where he served as senior pastor for eight years.
Pilgrim Rest has been a mainstay in the community, once known as Short North Dallas. The surrounding neighborhood has seen a tremendous amount of change over the last eight decades and is emerging from the COVID pandemic.
I am honored to have been called to pastor Pilgrim Rest, said Dr. Williams. Our world is changing, and people are looking for hope in a world filled with uncertainty. My prayer is to ensure Pilgrim Rest remains one of the beacons of light that our community can look to for spiritual nourishment.
Dr. Williams attended More- house College in Atlanta, GA and completed his Bachelors degree in Theology and Pastoral Ministry from the Birmingham-Easonian Baptist Bible College in Birmingham, AL.
He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and a Masters degree in Theological Studies from Faith International University and Seminary in Tacoma, WA.
Dr. Williams is married to the former Joannie Dionne Holiday and they have two sons.
This Course Is An Introduction To The Interpretation Of The Bible Seeking To Provide A Historical Perspective And Reliable Principles With Which To Study Interpret And Apply Scripture
3BC was organized in February 2009 by Pastor Billy Bell, Pastor of the New Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church during a meeting with Dr. Michael Adams, President of Faith International Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Michael Adams suggested that we organize a school here in Texas and partner with Faith International Seminary. Pastor Bell asked Dr. Adams what he could name the school and Dr. Adams suggested BBBICC – Billy Bell Bible Institute College Courses.
Pastor Bell knew that members would be hesitant about enrolling in college courses with some having only graduated school with a GED. Pastor Anthony Pettus shared and sent the curriculum to Texas from a Bible class that he instituted at his church using a book called Grasping Gods Word. A Hands-On approach to Reading, Interpreting and Applying the Bible. Pastor Bells travel schedule was heavy at the conception of 3BC, so he held classes on the first and third Saturday of each month. Pastor Bell introduced it to New Pilgrim Rest membership and signed up over seventeen members for the first class.
We are pleased to announce our expansion to having classes twice a week with four other superb instructors coming aboard. They are Dr. Frank Ray, Sr. , Pastor Anthony R. Pettus , Dr. Carlton May , ) and Pastor Thaddeus McCall .
2021 was a fabulous virtual experience and we look forward to 2022, and beyond, with great anticipation for 3BC & partnering again to equip individuals with the Word of God.

Dr Carlos D Williams Senior Pastor
Dr. Carlos D. Williams is a native of Alabama. The youngest son of Rev. Wales W. Williams, Sr. and the late Sister Brenda Williams. Rev. Williams was licensed to preach in 1994 and ordained in 1997 by the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Harpersville, Alabama.Currently, he serves as Senior Pastor of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia from 1993-1996 and again in 2000 but furthered his studies at the Birmingham-Easonian Baptist Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama where he received a Bachelors Degrees in both Theology and Pastoral Ministry. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Masters Degree in Theological Studies from Faith International University and Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. Pastor Williams completed his Doctorate degree in Ministry at Virginia University of Lynchburg, Virginia in May of 2021. Pastor Williams dissertation was Equipping Informally Trained Christian Educators with the Principles of Biblical Exposition.
He is a frequent lecturer and teacher in the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. and serves on the Pastors and Ministers Division staff. He also served as one of seven pastors on the advisory board for the Young Pastors Division under the immediate past president, Dr. Julius R. Scruggs.
