What I’m Doing Now

So all this to say that my priorities are all messed up right now because I paid $7,500 for 2 classes this semester, and if I don’t put my best effort into them, it will be a lot of money wasted.

I am overwhelmed and graduate school which is obviously just little pea gravel has taken over everything and pushed out all the important stuff like my blog and my family time.

I have a plan to get my priorities back in order. I transferred to a different program this month. It costs about â of what the online MBA program costs and will be covered by my employer’s tuition reimbursement program. I will be able to take one class per semester starting in January, and I know that will be much more manageable.

And if it’s not more manageable, then I will adjust. Maybe I will quit. Maybe I will change a different priority to give grad school more room.

What I will NOT do is compromise my time with Jesus or my family. I will not compromise the time I spent on living a good, healthy life. I will not compromise my self care.

The Story Of The Jar Of Rocks Pebbles & Sand

My therapist asked me this week if I knew about the story of the jar of rocks. I already knew it, but in case you didn’t, let me tell you.

There was a professor who filled a mayonnaise jar with rocks. He asked his students if the jar was full, and they agreed that it was.

Then the professor took out a handful of gravel and poured it into the jar. The gravel filled the spaces between the larger rocks and completely fit into the jar. He asked his students if the jar was now full, and they agreed that it was.

Next, the professor took out a bag of sand and poured that into the jar. It filled up the spaces in between the big rocks and the smaller gravel. He asked his students if the jar was now full, and they agreed that it was.

He explained that the jar was finally full, and this jar represented their lives. The big rocks are the truly important things, such as Jesus, good health, and relationships. If there was no gravel and no sand, your life would still be important and meaningful.

The gravel represents the other things that matter, like work, school, and home. These things are important, but they are not as important as the relationships with God and people.

Finally, the sand represents the material possessions and small stuff in our lives. These are the emergencies that suck up our time and the time wasters that numb our brains.

Psalm : I Feel Overwhelmed And Need Gods Help

Help! When life gets full and my heart cant speak, this is the only word that I can manage to utter in prayer. But Psalm 60 fills in the blanks for me when my words are lacking. Sometimes we think if we pray just right, then God will answer. But when we turn to God with a sincere heart, the words arent so much the key as is the heart. And Im so thankful God is my help.

Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! With God we shall do valiantly it is he who will tread down our foes .

Believe The Gospel To Find Rest

Friend, Jesus loves you, and He wants you to have freedom and fulfillment. His shed blood on the cross paid the penalty for all of your sins, and his glorious resurrection gives you access to God forever. When you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ alone, you will be saved.

At salvation, you are a new creature in Christ , with a new heart, life, purpose, and eternal home in Heaven. It is a glorious gift from God . You dont have to work for it, be a good person, or say a rote prayer to earn favor with God or have a relationship with Him. Just come to Jesus and trade your sin for His salvation, and find rest in the Lord.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

Sometimes we get so stirred up by circumstances beyond our control and lose our peace. But God restores the serenity in our soul when we count our blessings and maintain a proper perspective.

And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Jesus is the root of Jesse, and his rest is glorious indeed. Run to Jesus, give Him your cares, and trust Him to work them all out.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Whats worse than being overwhelmed by todays problems? Add the worries of tomorrow on top of that.

The Lord knows that we are prone to worry. He reminds us that we carry a heavier burden when we worry about tomorrow because todays worries are enough.

Remind Yourself Where Real Peace Resides

Imparting Grace: August 2014

Peace I leave with you my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid .

The world is searching and seeking peace in any form it can be found. Even believers sometimes buy into the idea that peace can be manipulated and manufactured through self-care and entertainment. While those things can offer rest and fun and refreshment, soul peace comes from one place: the person of Jesus Christ. When we continue to seek peace the worlds way, we will continue to be overwhelmed with trying to figure out the right balance between work and play, fun and games, and self-worth. Peace isnt found in what we do or dont do. Peace is a person named Jesus. Either we know Him and we have peace, or we dont.

Hand Over The Thing That Keeps You Awake At Night Of Causes Stress During The Day

Lamentations 1-5 ⢠When We’re Overwhelmed by the Grief from our Own Sin

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you .

Its easy to say, Cast your cares on God. Its much harder to actually take hold of your worry and throw it down at the feet of Jesus. But this is what we are told to do in Scripture. As you rest your head on your pillow tonight, when the worries begin about this or that, take that care immediately to God in prayer.

If you are going through your day and your heart begins to beat a little faster and you get worked up about something you cannot control or fix, imagine taking literal hold of the problem and handing it over to the only One who can do something about it. It might not mean that God answers right away or transforms the situation, but giving it over to God will bring peace in overwhelming times.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble .

One of the first things that comes to mind when bad things happen in my life, is, God where are you? Maybe you have more faith than I do, but often I cannot wrap my mind around why terrible tragedies happen or why God allows stress levels to climb so high due to unforeseen experiences in life.

This verse gives us the reminder that God is right there in the middle of the mess. He sees and knows the details and wants to carry us through it even when we do not understand it.

Its Okay To Feel Overwhelmedbut The Bible Can Help

When we put all these scriptures together like this, we see that its not sinful or faithless to experience times when we feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed. Sometimes life is hard. And sometimes, just when we think weve reached our maximum pain threshold, life hits a new level of hard.

But that doesnt mean we are not loved or seen by God.

It is in times like these that we are invited to cast our anxieties, our sufferings, and our fears on Godevery last detail, every agonizing tear.

Even if God doesnt swoop in to turn our circumstances around, we can know that we have his ear, his concern, and his heart. We can draw on his strength when ours runs out. We can draw from his hope when ours is gone. And we can draw near to Him when we have nothing else left, confident that He draws near to us in return.
