The Dateables | David Marvin

There’s no relationship manual that tells you how to overcome obstacles and strengthen the ties you have with your loved ones . Thankfully, Bible verses about love serve as excellent guides these scriptures offer jewels of wisdom that can help you navigate the ups and downs of love, as well as convey your heartfelt thoughts to your future spouse. There are a number of marriage scriptures and Bible verses about love that touch on the subject of relationships that you may want to mention on your wedding day.

26. Hebrews 10:24-25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one anotherâand all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

27. Proverbs 30:18-19: “There are three things that amaze meâno, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman.”

28. 1 John 4:12: “No one has ever seen God but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

John : 1: He First Loved Us

The truth is, God has open arms of love for the one whom repents. God will go as far as forgiving the stripper, racist, drug addict, murderer, gossiper, and all the other types of sinners. The Bible is littered with sinners that God still used because they repented David the adulterer & murder, Paul the Christian murder, etc.

These characters became MAJOR figures in the Bible because they knew they didnt deserve Gods love and favor Yet, they received it. We love, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19 God even pointed to a sinful woman in the Bible and highlighted that she was able to LOVE more because she had received so much of Gods love.

I tell you, her sinsand they are manyhave been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love. Luke 7:47

This absolutely blows my mind. There have been times in my life where I wanted revenge and I wanted someone to suffer Gods wrath because of the sin they committed against me. God reminded me, that He loves them just as much as me. And it is my calling as a Christians to love and pray for sinners just as much as God would.

God wants his children to pick up their cross daily and lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. This entails putting others before our own needs. Just like Jesus did. Related Article: What Does It Mean To Lay Down Your Life for Your Brother? 1 John 3:16-18

Don’t Miss: Bible Verses About Praying Without Ceasing

Bring Me Word Of Your Unfailing Love

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

In this psalm of lament, David communicates personal remorse for his shortcomings and the fear that as a consequence for disobedience, his enemies are going to overtake him. Over and over, David pleads with the Lord not to forsake him:

  • In Your faithfulness answer your servant
  • Enter not into judgment with your servant
  • Answer me quickly, Lord
  • Hide not your face from me
  • Deliver me from my enemies

David’s cry to “let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love” isn’t a reflection on how a beautiful sunrise reminds him of God’s love. It’s a desperate and impatient request for God to intervene and provide quickly. It’s David saying, “Please let me know that you love me by tomorrow, and you can do so by showing me what to do next.”

This might seem like a pushy and insistent kind of prayer that many believers wouldn’t be comfortable with, but David is called a man after his own heart . And God typically responded to David’s bold prayers.

The Arslan Tash Amulets

If God Is Love Then Why Does the Bible Talk So Much About ...

The Arslan Tash amulets are limestone plaques discovered in 1933 at Arslan Tash, the authenticity of which is disputed. William F. Albright, Theodor H. Gaster, and others, accepted the amulets as a pre-Jewish source which shows that the name Lilith already existed in the 7th century BC but Torczyner identified the amulets as a later Jewish source.

What Does The Bible Say About Love Loving First

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son. 1 John 4:10. Its great if someone loves me, and I love them in return. Thats easy. But that is not proof of love. God loved us before we loved Him, and we certainly did nothing to deserve that love. What if someone has treated me badly? Where is my love then? Love gives, and not only to those who are good to us. It loves its enemies it loves first. And it doesnt disappear if that love is never reciprocated. It endures all things.

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:44-45.

Storge is a term for love in the Bible that you may not be familiar with. This Greek word describes family love, the affectionate bond that develops naturally between parents and children, and brothers and sisters.

Many examples of family love are found in Scripture, such as the mutual protection among Noah and his wife, the love of Jacob for his sons, and the strong love the sisters had for their brother Lazarus. An interesting compound word using storge, “philostorgos,” is found in Romans 12:10, which commands believers to “be devoted” to one another with brotherly affection.

Christians are members of God’s family. Our lives are knit together by something stronger than physical tiesthe bonds of the Spirit. We are related by something more powerful than human bloodthe blood of Jesus Christ. God calls his children to love each other with the deep affection of storge love.

Love God And Keep His Commandments

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

God established the connection between loving and obeying Him early in Scripture. He wanted Israel to understand that they couldn’t separate loving Him from obeying His commandments. The two were the same.

Jesus reiterated this idea in the Gospels when He asked, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” .

Let Love And Faithfulness Never Leave You

Let love and faithfulness never leave you bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Back in Exodus, when God was replacing the tablets of law that Moses broke, Scripture tells us that He passed in front of Moses and said:

The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation .

The author of Proverbs hearkens back to this moment and reminds fellow Israelites to reflect consistently upon God’s love and faithfulness. To maintain the covenant and a healthy relationship with God, Israel would need to do more than receive God’s love and faithfulnessthey’d have to reciprocate it.

Bible Verses About Love For Valentine’s Day

What does the Bible say about falling in love?

The history of Valentine’s Day, or Saint Valentine’s Day, is shrouded in mystery. Some sources claim it began as a Christian feast day honouring one or more saints named Valentinus. If youre sending a Valentines Day card this year, why not include a Bible verse to remind your loved one that Gods love is everlasting and unchangeable.

    • 1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good his love endures forever.
    • Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
    • Jeremiah 31:3 I have loved you with an everlasting love I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
    • Exodus 34:6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
    • Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: For your sake we face death all day long we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Gods Love For His Son

In the Old Testament we saw that God loves his own glory and delights to display it in creation and redemption. A deeper dimension of this self-love becomes clear in the New Testament. It is still true that God aims in all his works to display his glory for men to enjoy and praise . But what we learn now is that Christ reflects the very glory of God and bears the stamp of his nature . In him dwells all the fullness of deity . In short, Christ is God and has eternally existed in a mysterious union with his Father . Therefore, Gods self-love, or his love for his own glory, can now be seen as a love for the glory of Christ who is the likeness of God . The love that God the Father has for the Son is expressed often in the Gospel of John and occasionally elsewhere . This love within the Trinity itself is important for Christians for two reasons: First, the costly beauty of the incarnation and death of Christ cannot be understood without it. Second, it is the very love of the Father for the Son which the Father pours into the hearts of believers . The ultimate hope of the Christian is to see the glory of God in Christ , to be with him and to delight in him as much as his Father does .

Surprising Things That The Bible Says About Sex

The Bible is a book about God, about us, and about how God saves us through the person and work of Jesus Christ therefore, it isnt terribly surprising to discover that the Bible has a great deal to say about sex. Human beings are sexual creatures God made us male and female therefore the story of creation, fall, and redemption is necessarily, at least in part, a story about human sexuality.

Parts of that story are relatively well known, but other parts can be quite unexpected even shocking to the first time Bible reader. Among the most surprising revelations would be the following:

    The High Value Of Hope

We can talk about the bible I donât do dates.

The psalmist builds upon the theme of hope in God in a series of refrains in the psalm that appears in the collection of psalms known as Psalms 42 and 43. Thus he says,

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me?Put your hope in God,for I will yet praise Him,my Savior and my God. .

This psalm is often understood as a prayer psalm and to be sure, it does praise God. Yet, it also contains the distinctive features of a worship psalm. Thus the psalmist expresses a strong longing for God as well as the psalmists fond remembrance of his own past ministry for the Lord . This longing also features the psalmists lament as he deplores his present condition even though he remains certain that God is available to him:

Accordingly, he goes on to pray to the Available One for vindication and restoration to his former status .

Indeed, the believers very hope is based upon his salvation. It is a salvation that comes via the grace of God . The Lord has granted salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ:

We must stay sober of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation. For God did not destine us for wrath but for gaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that whether we are alert or asleep we will come to life together with him. .

It is a glorious salvation that has brought the believer into an eternal living union with Jesus Christ, one that may be described as Christ in you, the hope of glory . As we have noted elsewhere,

Working The Good For Those Who Love Him

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

One of the New Testaments most inspiring promises is that God is right in the middle of the experiences of those who love Him. There isn’t anything youre going through that’s beyond God’s influence or reach. And no matter how bad our experiences may be, God is at work to bring good out of them.

No matter what were going through, God is weaving it into His plan and using it to transform us. We may not see how it’s possible at the moment, which is why we need to take on faith that God is at work bringing good out of our darkest moments.

    Bible Verses About Loving God

Ive just been reminded of a song we sang in my childhood:

I keep falling in love with Him, over and over, and over, again. He gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by, Oh what a love between my Lord and I. I keep falling in love with Him over and over again. Lanny Wolfe

Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Revelation 2:2-4 I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my names sake, and you have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
