How To Find A Verse
For this tutorial, we will use the largest portion of the Strongs Concordance. This is the first section. Lets search for a verse that came to my mind the other day.
As I was driving home, I was praying and praising Yah. I was thinking about patience as it relates to answered prayer. I was reflecting on how it is important to not get ahead of Yahuah when we dont have a clear release to do something or to go a particular course in life.
I have made this mistake many times and Im learning to wait. As I was praying and praising Yah, a verse of Scripture came to my mind. This verse talks about patience as it relates to possessing our soul.
I began to quote it to myself, but I got hung up on the word, will. I could not remember if the verse said, In patience you will possess your soul or In patience you possess your soul. Word choice to the writers of Scripture is deliberate and intentional. Realizing this helps us to remember to slow down and pay attention to the seemingly minor words such as will.
Lets use this verse to slowly walk through the steps of locating a verse in the Strongs Concordance. I will get very detailed here.
Listen To An Audio Bible
For a lot of the churchs history, people listened to Gods Word instead of reading it. Sometimes it can be helpful to purchase an audio Bible, then take a walk and listen to the Bible instead of reading it. If you find that youre struggling through your daily reading, consider supplementing it with an audio Bible.

Do you sing praises for your work when you wake up in the morning?
Probably not.
Besides, itâs not like you can find a lot of songs praising work. If anything, thereâs a common theme of lamenting work that runs throughout every genre of music.
The Beatles work like a dog in âA Hard Dayâs Night.â
The Bangles dread another âManic Mondayâ after a fun Sunday.
Huey Lewis and the News take what their boss is giving them because theyâre working for a living.
And Dolly Parton is barely gettinâ by because sheâs workinâ 9 to 5.
Work is often considered a problem in culture, but according to scriptures about work, God has good intentions about your work and business.
Not only is work important to God, but youâll also spend roughly 90,000 hours on the job. During your time in business, you can strive to glorify God in your work or you can wake up close to retirement with the realization that you squandered away so much of your precious time. I suggest pursuing the former option.
To make the most of your work, letâs take a look at 55 Bible verses. In this list of scriptures, weâre going to walk you through the following discussions:

Lets Deconstruct A Bible Reference
- Although the Bible is often referred to as a book, it actually is a written by different people over a period of about 1500 years. Therefore, if people want to refer to a particular Bible verse, theyll start with the name of the Biblical book, which may be the name of the author, the name of the recipient, or a summary of the books content. Sometimes theyll add a number, like 2 Samuel or first Timothy, if there are multiple parts of a book, or multiple letters written by or to the same person. Most Bible copies contain a list of all Biblical books with corresponding page numbers to help you find them. In digital versions , just type the name of the book in the navigation bar.
- Most biblical books are pretty long. Therefore they have been divided into chapters indicated with a number, like John 3
- Sometimes people want to refer to just one sentence. To make that easier, chapters have been divided into verses. These also have a number, and are often indicated by a :. For example: John 3:16 means the gospel written by John, third chapter, verse number 16. Just try to find this verse for yourself it contains the most important truth ever!

How To Find A Bible Verse Fast
I was recently writing something about biblical archaeology, and it happened again, that thing thats always happening to me in Bible studydoes it happen to you? I was trying to find the location of a verse whose exact wording I was pretty sure I already knew. The phrase that was cemented in my head was, declared to be the Son of God with power.
I sometimes used to try searching a Bible website because it was easy to get tosince Im often already in my browser. But I gave up, because most of the time I get either way too many hits or I got this:
NO RESULTS COULD BE FOUND
I tried it again, for old times sake, and sure enough, thats what my search for declared to be the son of God with power got me.
Man! I know that phrase is in there! But where? And which Bible translation is it in?
Questions Help You Find Timeless Truths In The Bible
If you dont have a pastor sitting beside you or a degree in theology, how do you discover what is and isnt a timeless truth? In Toward an Exegetical Theology Walter Kaiser suggests these tests:

Finding Elusive Bible Verses
So how do you find those elusive Bible verses?
If you can remember the exact word in the verse then a concordance is your first tool. Many Bibles have a mini-concordance in the back. Strongs Concordance lists every word in the Bible. It is available in both KJV and NIV versions if you use one of those two versions. Other concordances are also available. Begin by looking up the least popular word you can remember. Why the least popular? Because it will have fewer references to sort through to find your verse. If you try looking up God you may find pages of small print to look through to find your verse!
There are also online concordances. These can help because you can look of words in different versions. Be sure to use the version that corresponds to the Bible version that you use because different Bible versions may have used synonyms. You can also look up phrases or several words at once. For example, you could search for God, love, world to find all the verses that use those 3 words.
At the bottom of this page is an online concordance from Bible Gateway. Try it out!
Still stuck? Consider that maybe you are thinking of a quote that doesnt come from the Bible. For example, you are never going to find a reference for God helps those who help themselves no matter how hard you try!

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
I love the message from this book that Paul shares with us. For those of us who believe in Jesus as our personal Savior and Lord, there is no punishment. We are not condemned. We are free and forgiven. What a beautiful message this is!
