How To Study the Bible for Beginners | 5 Tips for Beginners | Christian Vlogger
  • Anyone interested in learning about the Bible.

  • Anyone with questions about how Israel as a nation played a critical role in biblical history.
  • Anyone curious about how Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of God’s promises to the world.
  • Anyone wondering about how the Bible helps individuals in our day to live abundant lives.

Now Let’s Look At The Word Understanding From Psalm 119

  • Verse 27: Help me understand the meaning of Your precepts so that I can meditate on Your wonders.
  • Verse 32: I pursue the way of Your commands, for You broaden my understanding.
  • Verse 34: Help me understand Your instruction, and I will obey it and follow it with all my heart.
  • Verse 73: Your hands made me and formed me give me understanding so that I can learn Your commands.
  • Verse 100: I understand more than the elders because I obey Your precepts.
  • Verse 104: I gain understanding from Your precepts therefore I hate every false way.
  • Verse 125: I am Your servant give me understanding so that I may know Your decrees.
  • Verse 130: The revelation of Your words brings light and gives understanding to the inexperienced.
  • Verse 144: Your decrees are righteous forever. Give me understanding, and I will live.
  • Verse 169: Let my cry reach You, Lord give me understanding according to Your word.

When we study the Bible our understanding is provided by God. Once we understand God’s Word, it allows us the privilege of meditating on it . It is only God, as our creator, who is able to allow us to understand His holy word .

When we understand the Word of God, we will hate every false way and we will follow and obey God . Understanding the Bible makes us wise beyond our years however, understanding is only provided to the humble in heart .

Bible Study By Chapters

30 Bible Study Lessons for Beginners Easy and Simple by ...

In the Bible there are 1,189 chapters in the Old and New Testaments. In a little over three years, a person could make an intensive study of the whole Bible, taking a chapter a day. It is usually a good practice to start your Bible study in the New Testament.

Time needed: 20 minutes.

Study the Bible by Chapters

  • Read through the chapter carefully.

Seek to find its main subject or subjects.

  • Give each chapter a title that suggests its main content.

If you are reading the Gospel of John, for example, you might give each chapter titles like this: ch. 1 Jesus Christ, the Word of God ch. 2 The Wedding at Cana ch. 3 The New Birth ch. 4 The Woman at the Well ch. 5 The Healing of the Man at the Pool of Bethesda ch. 6 The Feeding of the 5,000

  • Reread the chapter and make a simple outline.

Including its main thoughts. For example, for John 1, you might make an outline like this:Jesus Christ, the Word of God:a. Jesus Christ was the eternal Word of God, 19b. Jesus Christ came into the world, 1018c. John witnesses that Christ is to come, 1928d. John says that Jesus is the Lamb of God, 2937e. Jesus Christ calls His first disciples, 3851

    What The Bible Is

âAll Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good workâ .

    The Bible is Godâs word.

It is inspired â as the author Timothy says, it is âGod-breathed.â This means that the original sources of Scripture were inspired, and we have a very accurate replication of the original text. By way of scribes, archeological work, and documentary criticism, we can look at the Bible we hold in our hands and know that what we hold is the word of God.

This doesnât mean that there is some mystical meaning that we must deduce from the text, but rather that God, over the course of thousands of years, through diverse authors, he guided the minds of the authors to write authoritative truth. The author of Hebrews writes: âIn the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Sonâ .

We are meant to understand the meaning of these texts by investigating what is the original meaning of the textâthe original authorâs intent, language, personal history, circumstance, and socio-cultural context.

    Bible Study By Topics

Closely related to the method of study by words is the study according to great topics or subjects: Bible prayers, Bible promises, Bible sermons, Bible songs, Bible poems, and so on.

Or one might study Bible geography by reading rapidly through and looking for rivers, seas, and mountains highlighted in Scripture. For example, the mountaintop experiences in the life of Abraham are a thrilling study.Another challenging study is to read rapidly through the Gospels and Epistles looking for the Lords commands to us.

The list of Bible topics is unlimited.

First, for a topical study on prayer, look up the word prayer or pray in your concordance. Look up every form of these words and such related words as ask and intercession. After you have looked up these verses, study them and bring together all the teaching on prayer that you find. You will find conditions of prayer, words to be used in prayer, results to expect from prayer, when to pray, and where to pray.

Study A Verse By Looking For The Great Ideas Revealed In It

How I Study My Bible (Beginner Tips For Bible Study)

Let us look again at John 3:16 as our example. We might title this verse, The greatest verse in the Bible. The following ideas are found in it:

    Bible Study Through Biography

The Bible is a record of Gods revealing Himself to people and through people. The Old Testament as well as the New is rich in such biographical studies. Here are a few:

    • Noah: Genesis 5:3210:32
    • Deborah: Judges 4 5

Let us summarize various methods for studying the great Bible biographies:

  • Read the Bible book or passages in which this persons life is prominent, for example, Abraham in Genesis 1225, plus references to Abraham in Hebrews 11 and Romans 4 .
  • Trace character with your concordance.
  • Be careful to note indirect references to the person in other portions of Scripture.
  • Would Jesus Wear A Mask

It seems that the most notable debate in the church today is not about salvation or sanctification but masks. One side says we must always obey the government. The other side says the other side is no better than the German church in World War II, and we should resist mask mandates.

I wish that the church approached the issues of salvation and sanctification with the same fervor. Can you imagine the effect on our neighborhoods if we focused our passionate feelings about masks toward the unsaved and those not growing in their Christ-likeness?

    Support For Your Faith Journey

Youre asking all of the right questions. Your faith is a lot stronger than you think it is. These words from one of my biblical studies professors have stuck with me to this day. This professor became one of my greatest mentors and a major influence in my faith journey throughout college. Our conversations, and the Bible courses that accompanied them, have reminded me that its normal to experience both difficult and rejuvenating seasons of faith. He taught me that continually seeking better understanding is a sign of strength, not weakness, in your relationship with God.

Bible classes help us look beyond the surface-level knowledge we may have about scripture and the life of Jesus. For those new to studying the Bible, these courses are eye-opening and can help create a solid foundation for your faith. For those whove grown up immersed in the church, they teach us that the Bible is much more complex than we may realize. Wherever you are in your journey, Bible classes will encourage you to explore and strengthen your faith, while allowing room to learn, grow, and expand your ideas.

Are You Reading The Bible Or Studying It

    Bible Studies

Anyone can read the Word and anyone can read a Bible study but what are you getting out of it when you read it through someone elses lens?

There is a distinct difference between reading and studying.

I am currently in seminary in a graduate program on Jewish Studies and the class I am in right now is on the Tanakh, which you may know as the Old Testament. This is challenging me to really study the Word in a deep way and I realize that for much of the Tanakh, I have just been readingfor many years in fact.

    Sometimes, I was merely skimming!

I was skimming or just reading about genealogies that made no sense for me until now. There IS a reason they are there! Among other things, they function like bookends around a new story coming into the picture! I wouldnt know that just by reading.

Studying gives you a deeper meaning of not only what God is wanting to convey, but also allows you to see what the original language says and allow the Word to speak for itself. And you can use these Bible study methods to do just that!

And if you are totally new to Bible study, the good news is you CAN learn how to study the Bible in a way that doesnt make you feel like youre back in Kindergarten. You CAN enjoy it and there are different Bible study methods to help you!

It is not a one size fits all endeavor! A Bible study that works for one may not work for the next person! That is why I strongly advise people to spend time directly in the Word of God as well.
