What Does God Promise Us In The Bible

God Fulfills His Promises To Israel

Does God Promise Divine Healing in the Bible?

I love how the book of Joshua puts it so pointedly: Not a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled everything he had spoken came true.

Joshua tells us that not even one of Gods promises were left unfulfilled, nope not even one!

Its easy to respond Well, sure these promises were for Israel, but what about us today?

Gods Promises In The Gospels

We can also find Gods promises through the Gospels : Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the books in the Bible that account or narrate the life of Jesus here on earth. A lot of these promises or verses are His own words while teaching His disciples.

Matthew 11:28 Jesus encourages those weary to come to Him, and He will give them His rest. It is the kind of comfort and peace that nothing and no one in this world can provide. Only in Him will we be able to experience this.

Matthew 28:20 Jesus tells us in this verse to keep His commands, and He promises to be with us until the end of time.

Jesus tells us in these verses that following Him would mean sacrificing a lot, even our relationships. But He also promises that these sacrifices are not in vain and that there is a greater reward waiting for us if we choose to obey Him.

Luke 11:9-10 The Lord tells us that for the people who ask from Him will receive, whoever seeks Him shall find Him, and He will open the door for those who knock. It is just as what James 4:8 tells us that He will come near to us if we draw near to Him and follow His will.

John 16:33 Jesus says that we will have trials and troubles in this world, but we have to be brave. He promises that He has already overcome and defeated this world, so we can rely on Him.

Gods Promises In The New Testament

James 4:8 God promises to draw near to us if we come near to Him. We just have to be willing to make ourselves pure, turn away from the ways of the world, and follow Him.

1 Corinthians 15:58 God tells us to fully commit to our work of the Lord in this verse. He promises us that our efforts will not be in vain and are not wasted in His eyes.

James 1:5 God promises to give us wisdom when we need it if we ask Him for it. God is generous and enjoys giving us what we need by His will.

1 John 1:9 God promises to forgive us if we confess our sins to Him. He promises to make us clean from all the mistakes and wrong things we did when we repent.

Romans 8:28 This verse is Gods promise that everything works together for those who love God because this is His plan.

Who Was David In The Bible

God

David was a lowly shepherd who was selected by God, was anointed, and rose to become king of the Israelites. After a period of judges, Israel wanted a king, but the first king, Saul, went astray. So, God identified a new king, David, who reigned for 40 years.

In many ways, a model king and an example of picture-perfect theocracy, David was nonetheless a flawed human being. Yet God showed His great love and faithfulness to David repeatedly just as He does to us today.

Time and again, David repented and turned back to God. .

Scripture describes David as a man of faith , a man after Gods own heart , and part of the ancestral lineage of Jesus Christ .

How Can We Apply Gods Promises In Our Lives

Does God ever leave us? What does God promise the elderly?

We can start applying Gods promises in our lives by praying, obeying His Word, and surrendering to Him. As it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, we have to trust God with all our hearts and not rely on our wisdom. We also have to submit all our ways to Him, so He can make the path of our lives straight. It may be easier said than done thats why it requires great faith, which we can only acquire by spending time reading the Word of God .

What Does God Promise David

The promises of God to David are detailed in 2 Samuel 7:8-16. David expresses apparent remorse to the prophet Nathan over the fact that he lives in a house of cedar while Gods ark remains in a tent , and the prophet encourages David to do whatever it is the king has in mind presumably, build God a proper home in the form of a grand temple.

But that night, God speaks to Nathan about David, requesting that Nathan convey several things to David. First, God says, He never asked for a house of cedar .

Then, God reminds us about the good things Hes done for David so far, including appointing him as ruler and cutting off his enemies .

And finally, instead of allowing David to do nice things for God, God tells David what He is going to do for him:

  • Make his name great Establish a home for Israel .
  • Keep the people from oppression Give David rest from his enemies .
  • Establish a house for David through his offspring .
  • Allow Davids son to build Gods temple .
  • Never take His love from him or his offspring .

God concludes, Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me your throne will be established forever .

This last line is a reference to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who Scripture tells us does indeed stem from the lineage of King David and whose kingdom we know truly has no end.

Let No Man Say When He Is Tempted I Am Tempted Of God: For God Cannot Be Tempted With Evil Neither Tempts He Any Man:

1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

1:25 But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him?

4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall deliver the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

5:20 Let him know, that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

What Is The Significance Of The Promise Of God

Many do not know that God magnifies his word far above his name. According to psalm 138:2b says, for thou hast magnified thy word above all your name. This bible verse all shows how he holds his words in high esteem, Hebrews 4:12 even describes his word as sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirits 2 Corinthians 1:20 also stated his word to be yea and amen meaning it is forever living.

Many promises of God in the bible were made and fulfilled in the bible. Genesis 17 verse 4 says, This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations. Years after God made this promise to Abraham it is still being fulfilled to this day. Gods promises are worth more than any living human.

Gods Promises About Salvation

The greatest of all Gods promises and blessings is His gift of salvation.

John 3:16 Christ conquered sin and death for us. He suffered and died on our behalf because He loves us so much. Because of this, we can now take hold of Gods promise of eternal life when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

John 8:36 This affirms the previous verse that if Jesus has already set us free from sin, we are no longer slaves to it. We have the power to say no to sin because of what Christ did for us and by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Persevering For The Promise

Persevering can be challenging at times. God may have already said Yes to returning your prodigal child, but you still have not seen it fulfilled. He may have said Yes to an increase in your finances, but you wonder when it will happen. He may have said Yes, He will deliver your loved one from cancer, but you do not see any progress in the diagnosis.

It is in these times Satan is trying to steal Gods promises and prevent your Amen. So, you must persevere. But how?

First, we must be patient, remembering God hears us when we pray. Patience is very difficult when we do not see any positive movement in our situation. One way to help you be patient is to worship God. Remember that Satan is always trying to steal your worship, but do not allow him. Persist in your worship, giving God glory for His promises. Through our tireless worship, demons will flee and tremble at the sound of Jesus name .

Our worship also invites the Holy Spirits presence into our circumstances. The Bible says He inhabits the praises of His people . When we give God the praise He deserves, He cannot help but show up.

Second, we keep praying. When Daniel prayed, an angel was instantly dispatched to answer it. Gods angels are still being sent out when we pray. The way God works has not changed, so we must trust help is on the way.

Why Does God Make Promises

  • He loves you: you are the apple of Gods eyes, and to assure you of that he makes promises to show how much he loves and cherishes you. John 3:16 talks about how much God loves his people, so much so that he gave his only child to save us all.
  • You placed an order:Matthew 7:7 says, Ask, and it shall be given unto you seek and ye shall find knock, and it shall be opened unto you. If you request Gods promise then he will surely make them available.
  • To deepen our relationship with him: Getting a promise from God means God communicated with you. It could be God talking to us through our spirit, having dreams or seeing visions, but all that matters is that we had a major communication with a supernatural being.

Hebrews 12:1-2.

In My Fathers house are many mansions if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3.
