One Year Bible Reading Plan 2021

God Can Use Simple Tools

While browsing a bookstore one day, I saw a cheap paperback Bible. I own lovely leather study Bibles in multiple translations, so I was not on the market for another Bible. But as I read the cover and description of this Every Day Bible, my heart was stirred. This simple volume had a straightforward layout. It has selections for 365 days to take readers through the entire Bible every calendar year. No study notes or concordancejust Scripture, every day.

You guessed it: I bought the Bible. And God used an inexpensive copy of his precious Word to show me that sometimes we just need to try a different tool.

Im still not sure why a paperback Every Day Bible clicked for me in a way that a checklist could not. Having all the right tools cannot soften a heart from duty to delight. A new Bible cannot change a heart. But God can use simple, unexpected means to draw us into deeper relationship with him.

Days To Know Gods Plan For Us

Though its billed as a plan for new Christians , this would also be a wonderful plan to work through to help you present the gospel to others, or to suggest to a lost friend whos open to learning the gospel. Day 1 starts with the Fall of Man. Then youll work your way through OT passages demonstrating our inability to keep the law, followed by NT passages from the gospels and epistles detailing what Christ did for us and how that applies to us for salvation and eternity.

Bible Reading Plan For 2022

On February 28, 2016, Aleix Segura Vendrell claimed a Guinness World Record by holding his breath for 24 minutes and 3 seconds. Survivalists and scientists have determined that most humans can survive a few days without water and perhaps a month or more without food. While we know its possible, most would agree that testing these limits is not advisable. Our body needs regular doses of fresh air, food, and water for optimal health.

Why then, do so many Christians fast from the solid food of Gods Word , choosing instead to live on one meal each Sunday morning? We sing, This is the air I breathe, yet many of Gods people stumble through spiritual droughts because they fail to drink from the well of living water . We need a fresh supply of Gods wisdom and presence every day.

Where can we find this spiritual sustenance? Ephesians 6:17 instructs us to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The well of living water flows through Gods Word.

Colossians 1:9 records Pauls prayer for the church of Colossaea prayer that makes an important distinction. He prays for the Colossians to be filled with the knowledge of will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. As we study the Bible, we receive wisdom. But Paul reminds us that there is more to our faith than wisdom there is also spiritual understanding to be gained when we consistently study the instruction of the Scriptures.

    Five Days A Week Plan

Many of us have a hard time keeping up with our regular Bible reading schedule on the weekends. This is the plan for you if you still want to read through the whole Bible in one year. This plan also has you reading from the Old Testament and the New Testament each day. If you leave off the Old Testament readings, you can just concentrate on the New Testament for one year.

Bible Books Together Poetic Books On The Weekend

I like the way Rachel Green Miller, author of Beyond Authority and Submission, arranged her personal Bible reading plan. She kept the Bible books together, except for the Old Testament poetic books which she keeps for the weekends. She also alternates between the Old and New Testament. Her plan mixes up the readings without making it confusing to finish the whole Bible in one year.

    Discipleship Bible Reading Plan

A little disclaimer – I love this plan. The Navigators have done a wonderful job of creating a plan that balances keeping context without getting too bogged down in one genre. That does mean youll be reading through large chunks of the Prophets and the Psalmist. It takes disciple to get through this one but many have found it very helpful.

Morning & Evening Bible Reading Plan

October 7 (1 Timothy 4-6) | Bible Reading Plan for the Year

I LOVE this Bible Reading plan. In fact this is the plan I used my first time going through the Bible. You read a larger chunk of the Old Testament in the Mornings and a smaller portion in the Evenings. Breaking up the readings makes the plan accomplishable. You start your day in Gods redemptive plans in the past and end your day with Jesus. I highly recommend this plan.

    The Power Of Confession

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me my vitality was turned into the drought of summer.Psalm 32:4

California is a dry state that needs water to be transported over many miles to population and agricultural centers. Snowfall in the winter and melting snow in the spring are critical factors in replenishing shrinking reservoirs. In periods of modern droughts, aerial photographs document the receding water levels in reservoirs around the stateshorelines growing wider and drier as water levels fall.

Such is the picture David paints with his words in Psalm 32a drought of spiritual vitality brought on by his own sin. When he failed to confess his sin to God, his bones grew old and he groaned all the day long . It was like his soul was being evaporated by the heat of his own guilt and shame. But then the rains of grace came and David confessed his sin and God forgave him . And he encouraged his readers not to make the same mistake he had made .

Confession and repentance reveal the access to restoration. Hiding sin does not remove it from Gods sight but when we seek Gods forgiveness, the refreshing living water from the Father is poured out on us and we are restoredthat is the power of confession.

The way to cover our sin is to uncover it by confession.Richard Sibbes

    Chronologically Thematic Whole Bible Plan

    Pin on books

The idea of this plan is to show you how the New Testament fulfills the Old. Starting at Genesis 1, this plan moves chronologically through the Bible, but when a weighty person, place or theme is mentioned, other parts of Scripture are read alongside to go more in depth with the person, place or theme. Thus there are both Old Testament and New Testament passages all year, but they relate to each other thematically. Unique to this plan are special readings for certain holidays, such as Easter, Christmas, Advent, and more. This is a six day per week plan if you wish to finish in a year, but it is undated, so you can set your own pace. Readings take approximately 30 minutes each.

    God Of Second Chances

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.Jonah 3:1-2

It was not uncommon in the Old Testament for the word of the Lord to come to Gods prophets again and again. It happened to Samuel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Haggai, Zechariah, and others. And it also happened to Jonah: The word of the Lord came to Jonah the first time and then the second time . With the other prophets, the second time meant additional prophetic utterances they were to deliver. But with Jonah, the second time was because Jonah had failed to speak Gods word the first time. Jonah was a disobedient prophet.

God commissioned Jonah to go east to Assyria, to the capital of Nineveh and deliver a message of judgment. But Jonah fled west toward Spain because he feared the Assyrians. You know the storyJonah ended up in the sea where he was swallowed by a great fish. Jonah repented and called on the Lord and was delivered. God gave him a second chance.

Dont let your past keep you from trusting God for a second chance. The God of grace loves to forgive.

Forgiveness is to be set loose from sins.G. Campbell Morgan

    Study Tip Four: Explore Attitudes

As you seek to apply Gods truth in your life, note the changes that need to occur in your attitude, outlook, and conduct. Explore the Word, reading and rereading what God has said about the things you need to change. God will change you! Record these meditations in a journal or in the margins of your Bible. Reflect on one thing you learned about yourself through todays study. Ask yourself, How is God speaking to me regarding this issue?

Read Through The Bible For Slackers And Shirkers

Im not entirely sure why this is titled the way it is. There is still a lot of reading for everyday of this seven day a week plan. But I like the way you are reading different genres of literature on each day of the week. Sunday is Old Testament poetry, Monday is the Pentatuch, Tuesday is Old Testament history, etc. You should have a good grasp of the storyline of Scripture for this plan since youll be jumping around a bit. But I imagine you will see great insights you havent seen before since you are all over the Bible at the same time.

    Study Tip Six: Demonstrate Renewal

October 6 (1 Timothy 1-3) | Bible Reading Plan for the Year

When you habitually spend time in Gods Word, you cant help but experience renewal inside and out. Consider these words from Psalm 119: Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! I will delight myself in Your statutes, I will not forget Your word. I will run the course of Your commandments. I thought about my ways, and turned my feet to Your testimonies. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes . Do you see the connection between the psalmists inward thoughts and his outward actions? The ideas that inhabit your mind will work their way out in the choices you make. Demonstration is an external process that reveals internal renewal.

As you study Gods Word, its instruction and power will change your behavior. Make it your goal to share the encouragement of His Word with others whenever possible.

    Two Year Bible Reading Plan

This Bible reading plan guides you through the Bible in two years. You read five days a week, alternate between several weeks in the Old Testament then one in the New Testament. The Psalms are sprinkled in. The plan is undated so you could go at any pace you wish. You also dont need to enter your email address in order to print the plan.

    Study Tip Five: Increase Power

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible its 176 verses celebrate the law of the LordGods special revelation and gracious direction for life. Verse 11 says, Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. How do you hide Gods Word in your heart? By memorizing it. When you commit Scripture to memory, the Holy Spirit will use its truth to guide your thoughts and actions.

One memorization method is to transcribe a meaningful verse from your Scripture reading onto a notecard that you can carry throughout the day. Place it where it can be seenin your car, on the bathroom mirror, on the treadmill, or on the computer screen. If you want power in your Christian life, Scripture memorization will provide it.

    Week Bible Reading Plan

This plan will take you through a different genre of the Bible each day. Sunday – Epistle, Monday – Law, Tuesday – History, Wednesday – Psalms, Thursday – Poetry, Friday – Prophecy, Saturday – Gospels. This plan is really helpful if you have gotten bogged down before by having to read through books like Numbers or Isaiah in large chunks before. The plans strength is that it will give you something fresh to read each day of the week. However, that is also one of the weaknesses. By reading something a week ago you might not make connections with previous chapters in context as easily.
