Holy Family Church

Welcome to Holy Familys website! We are delighted that you are visiting us in cyberspace, and would also love to have you visit us in person here in South Pasadena! As a parish, our abiding motto is All Are Welcome.

We try our best to make sure that everyone who walks into our parish feels that they have come to a place which embraces them. I hope that you too will feel the warmth of our welcome when you visit us, especially if you have been away from the Church for a while or are putting an exploratory toe in Catholic waters!

Throughout the years, we continue to explore ways to live out our discipleship in community through grace, gratitude and generosity. When viewed as a trio of words, they capture the essence of a Christian lifestyle:

Gracespending time in prayer, personally and communally, allowing the grace of God to work through us and transform us.Gratitudeplacing our gifts and talents at Gods service in and through the Church, as a grateful response to all that God has given us.Generositysharing our material and financial resources in charity out of compassion and as a faith response to the needs of others.

Welcome And God Bless

The Adventures of Herbert: Holy Family Church

The Church of the Holy Family and St. Columba Catholic Church, being a community of worshipers and Disciples of Christ, live the Gospel through prayer and service, bearing witness to God’s love, compassion, and mercy.

A pastoral presence means walking with the People of God, walking in front of them, showing them the way, showing them the path walking in their midst, to strengthen them in unity walking behind them, to make sure no one gets left behind, but especially, never to lose the scent of the People of God in order to find new roads.

— Pope Francis, The Church of Mercy

This year our parishes will focus on following the examples of Pope Francis by deepening our relationship with Jesus and with each other Walking Christs Path Together. The theme will be emphasized with pictures of paths that represent the variety of challenges we are called upon to face during our lives. The theme will also be reinforced with music the song Thrive with lyrics including: to know our Fathers heart. into the world, were reaching out to show them who You are

Faith Formation Resources

Daily Prayer sets the tone for each day and allows each of us time to ask God what he wants us to do in His name. It is easy to be caught up in all of the problems we have or in the obstacles we face, and often times this can be very distracting for spiritual renewal.

Funding And Building Permit

Construction on Sagrada Família is not supported by any government or official church sources. Private patrons funded the initial stages. Money from tickets purchased by tourists is now used to pay for the work, and private donations are accepted through the Friends of the Sagrada Família.

The construction budget for 2009 was 18 million.

In October 2018, Sagrada Família trustees agreed to pay 36 million in payments to the city authorities, to land a building permit after 136 years of construction. Most of the funds would be directed to improve the access between the church and the Barcelona Metro. The permit was issued by the city on 7 June 2019.

The Church Of The Holy Family

The Church of the Holy Family held its first Masses on the weekend of January 10, 1987 with no church building and over 700 people attending. Our community labor of love turned into reality after seven long years of fundraising when ground was broken for a 350 seat New England Style Church on Route 85 in the Amston section of Hebron.

Dedicated on October 9, 1994 our church building enables parishioners, clergy, friends and community to come together weekly as a Holy Family.

We have been blessed to have the following pastors guide us in our journey of faith. Each has shared their special gifts, left behind their personal imprint and contributed greatly to The Church of the Holy Family.

  • Rev. John L. Surprenant, 1987-1989
  • Rev. Roland C. Cloutier, 1990-2000
  • Rev. Michael S. Smith, 2000-2016

What Is Stewardship

Rome of the West: Photos of the Church of the Holy Family

Stewardship is living a life of gratitude taking the time every day to recognize the gifts that God has given us and to be grateful for them. To show our gratitude to God, we return these gifts in the form of OUR TIME, OUR TALENT, and OUR TREASURE. We return these gifts not because God or our Church needs them but because we become so overwhelmed by His abundant love that we just feel the need to show our love and gratitude to God.
