What Does The Bible Say About Spreading The Gospel

Isaiah 4: : Gods Judgment And Power

Communicating With the Dead: – What Does the Bible Say?

I form light and create darkness I make well-being and create calamity I am the LORD, who does all these things.

Is the current global pandemic a result of Gods direct action? Regardless of how one interprets current events, we know that ultimately, God is the primary sovereign cause behind everything. We also know, through conscience and through Gods law, that we are guilty before God and deserve nothing good. So natural disasterswhether straight from the sovereign hand of God or mediated by the amoral chaos of natureare tools in his hands to lead us to repentance.

All suffering in the world is a result of Adams original sin. When we are faced with the futility of life in a fallen cosmos, we can plead with our neighbors to seize the opportunity to remember their Creator and come in faith to the Savior who rescues us from the effects of the fall.

Does The Bible Call All Christians To Share The Gospel

Yes, most famously in a passage of Matthew known as the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells his followers, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.

There are many different ways you can help fulfill this mission. You dont have to be the first person to share the gospel with someone to play a part in their journey as a disciple. Discipleship takes a village!

Other Bible Verses About The Importance Of Evangelism

In addition to the above, here are a few more verses about why evangelism is important:

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ .

For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! .

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God .

This is to my Fathers glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples .

Bible Verses About Making Disciples

A disciple is completely devoted to a teacher. The relationship goes beyond a student or an apprentice. They dont simply master a trade or a subject, they learn to emulate their teachers life. As Christians, we become disciples, striving to live according to the teachings of Jesus.

Part of being a disciple of Jesus is making disciples. Depending on who you ask though, youll probably get several very different explanations of what making disciples looks like, and how to go about it. So what does the Bible say about discipleship?

Here are 10 Bible verses about making disciples:

Where Does The Word Evangelism Come From

What Does the Bible Say about Sharing the Gospel?

Evangelism comes from the Greek words euaggelion a good message, or gospel and euaggelizo to announce, declare, bring, or preach this good news. Notice the word angel tucked inside the word an angel is a messenger. Those who practice evangelism are indeed delivering a message: One of extraordinarily good news, life-giving and transformative, with eternal ramifications.

While the word evangelism isnt mentioned a lot throughout the Bible, its theme is woven throughout the New Testament. All four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are rooted in evangelism, and scholars often refer to the writers as the evangelists.

For Jesus had a message, one He came to earth to deliver, teach, die, and rise again for every single one of us. And we are tasked to deliver that message both by Jesus and every other apostle in no uncertain terms.

What Did Jesus Say To His Disciples About Spreading The Gospel

He said, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Jesus is saying that we should go out into the world and share the gospel with others. This is something that we are all called to do as followers of Christ.

Biblical Women And The Spread Of The Gospel

This is the first of three articles by the Rev. Carolyn Moore on women in Scripture and in ministry.

As a pastor, as one called to the ministry of church planting, and as a woman, I am inspired and challenged by those great matriarchs of the faith who proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The list of women in the New Testament who led in the spread of the good news about Jesus is impressive: Mary and Martha, Phoebe, Chloe, Priscilla, Lydia, Junia, the four daughters of Philip, Euodia, and Syntyche. These are all notable examples of women who were visibly present in the gospel story. Women traveled with Jesus, prayed over him and with other disciples, led churches, mentored other evangelists, and led in assemblies. As Stanley Grenz and Denise Muir Kjesbo point out in their book, Women in the Church, the story of Jesus radically altered the position of women, elevating them to a partnership with men unparalleled in first-century society.

Ben Witherington, professor at Asbury Theological Seminary, has written extensively on the role of women in the spread of the gospel. His doctoral work was the study of women in the New Testament, and his first three published works were in defense of the role of women as spiritual leaders. In his more popular writings he summarizes well a generation of argument and research on the subject. These points are offered as a summary of his findings:

Warnings About Another Gospel Which Is Not A Gospel

One of the beautiful and joyful aspects of the message of salvation in Christ that makes it such good news is the element of grace . Salvation is the free gift of God to be received by faith alone in Christ alone . But the message of grace goes contrary to the heart and thinking of man who intuitively thinks in terms of merit. After all, you cant get something for nothingat least not if its worth anything. Man has always had a problem with grace and this is easily seen in the book of Acts. From the very early days of the church, it has faced the problem of those who wanted to add some form of works to the message of grace.

In Acts 15:1 we read these words: Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved. Verse 5 tells us that these were men from the sect of the Pharisees who had believed. From within its own ranks a controversy broke out concerning the exact nature and content of the gospel message. Later the apostle Paul had to deal with a similar controversy in the book of Galatians. Writing regarding those who wanted to deny the gospel of grace, Paul wrote, Now this matter arose because of the false brothers with false pretenses who slipped in unnoticed to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, to make us slaves. But we did not surrender to them even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you .

Be Ready To Learn Something New About The Gospel Yourself

What does the bible say about ANXIETY?

Everyone has more to learn about the gospel. So as you share the gospel, you may find your view of it evolves, too. That doesnt mean the gospel is changing it may just mean your understanding of it is growing.

Growing up in Nepal, where most people are Buddhist or Hindu, Yakuv Gurung began sharing the gospel at a young age. Verbal evangelism was highly prioritized. Thats actually how Christianity grew in Nepal, Gurung says. But as I grew older, I began to realize we were missing some things in terms of approach. Rather than simply sharing the gospel, we need to actually be the gospel. My character should reflect the gospel. In my context, where lots of Hindus and Buddhists and non-Christians are watching us, that becomes pre-evangelism.

Today, Gurung is leading a movement of new churches both in Nepal and among Nepali immigrants in the U.S.

Pauls missionary journeys through Asia Minor seemed to impact his understanding of the gospel, too. Pauls actions in effect expanded Christianitynot just regionally as we usually think of it, but theologically, says Kim. It is doubtful he would have had reason to insist on a Christ who transcends circumcision and kosher diet if he had not been sent to live and work among people to whom his being an upright Pharisee had no meaning.

Why We Need To Spread The Gospel

As Christians, we aim to tell the whole world about Jesus, who He is, and why everyone needs to accept Him as their savior and Lord. Gods desire is for every soul to enter His kingdom, but they must first accept Jesus Christ and believe in Him. Then they must obey all the commandments God has given to man.

The Message Of The Gospel In The Bible

The Bible Gateway Encyclopedia of the Bible summarizes the biblical gospel as 1) the message of Jesus, 2) the message of the apostles, and 3) the teachings of Christianity. Ultimately, Jesus Christ is the primary source of both the teachings of Christianity and the message of the apostles. The heart of the gospel is the good news of his love and salvation. But that doesnt mean that Jesus is the only messenger for the gospel. The Bible describes both the message of the apostles and Christian teachings as the gospel, too.

Bible Verses About Spreading The Gospel

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel

Psalm : Safety And Refuge In God

The Sower Magazine

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

If youre feeling ambitious, why not commit this entire chapter to memory? Each verse of Psalm 91 speaks powerfully to the problem of pandemics. While many shelter in place, the psalmist invites us to dwell in the shelter of the Most High and rest in the shadow of the Almighty . Though a thousand may fall at your side, the plague will not prevail .

Taken out of context, this chapter could be misinterpreted as a high-octane health-and-wealth prooftext. But the so-called prosperity gospel is heresy God does not unconditionally promise Christians a healthy or trouble-free existence if they only exercise enough faith. The Puritan Thomas Watson commented, God doth not say, no afflictions shall befall us, but no evil. We may have affliction, but affliction will not have us. Psalm 91 helps usand those we are seeking to evangelizelook above the physical and temporal to set our sights on heavenly realities so that we can recognize that our afflictions are light and momentary compared to eternity .

Prove The Power Of The Gospel Together

If we do not believe the sufficiency of the gospel, we will never share it boldly and simply. Yet, if we truly believe that Gods word does the work of conversion through the power of his Holy Spirit, we will unabashedly share the simple and unadorned truth of the gospel. A truncated and inadequate gospel will quickly be abandoned and never shared. But a gospel that can save by grace through faith apart from works as a free gift is believed, treasured, and declared boldly.

With fellow believers, we must remind each other of the sufficiency of Gods word to do his work for his purposes. If we are confident in the ability of the gospel to transform lives, we can boldly and indiscriminately proclaim this good news with sacrificial love to the lost in the hope that some will be saved.

Popular Notions Limit The Meaning Of The Gospel

Popular notions about the term gospel tend to limit it to the message of how one may receive eternal life through faith in Christ, but it is much broader than that. For instance, Paul says in Romans 1:16-17, For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is Gods power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written, the righteous by faith will live. But by using the term gospel here, Paul is not

limiting his thoughts to those central truths by which a person is given eternal life. For Paul, his gospel included such matters as justification by faith , sanctification through the Spirit , and Gods future for Israel . In fact, the gospel gathers together all the truths that are found in Romans. Therefore, we can conclude that in Rom 1:16, Paul is expressing his confidence that the truths of justification, sanctification, and even glorification provide Gods power to deliver us from enslavement and bondage to sin.6

In a footnote to the above statement, Hart adds the following explanation.

Reception Of The Gospel

One of the important issues about this gospel message has to do with how one receives the salvation offered in the gospel. The fact that God offers us salvation from sins penalty and power with the glorious promise that this will one day result in the glorious reign of Christ on earth with sin, death, and Satan as vanquished foes is glorious news to be sure. However, the fact that God offers us salvation as a free gift through faith in Christ is good news beyond description. Paul clearly links the gospel with faith in Galatians 3:6-9.

3:6 Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, 3:7 so then, understand that those who believe are the sons of Abraham. 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the gospel to Abraham ahead of time, saying, all the nations will be blessed in you. 3:9 So then those who believe are blessed along with Abraham the believer.

If the salvation offered to us were dependent on our merit or our ability to keep the law, it would not be good news because of our sinfulness and complete inability to keep the law or any kind of righteous principles as a means of our justification or right standing with God.

Why is this element of grace such wonderful news? Because it guarantees justification with God and the reason is that justification is based on the accomplished work and merit of Jesus Christ.

How Do You Share The Gospel

EP 12 | VACCINE – The Mark of the Beast? (What does the Bible say?)

Many people assume sharing the gospel is only about trying to convert new people to Christianity. Ultimately, converting someone to Christianity is the work of the Holy Spirit. Spreading the gospel is a way for us to partner with the Holy Spirit in that work. But evangelism doesnt have to mean making your best sales pitch for Christianity to anyone who will listen. And drawing new believers isnt the only reason for sharing the gospel.

Evangelism itself often has more to do with building relationships than building a case for Christianity. In fact, most evangelists look more like the neighbor who offers to shovel a snowy driveway than the street preacher who peddles salvation like a heavenly retirement plan.
